Chapter 300: 297. Preparations for war (1)
The survivors' camp built in Saint Petersburg had improved over the last week. The humans had begun to mingle with the other races currently residing in the camp.
Atop the floating Sun Walkers' camp, Dexter sat on a building, looking up at the sky.
'It has been a week. I can't help but feel restless,' Dexter thought, letting out a sigh.
Ever since he spoke to Hannah's mom, and her telling him about Asher's vision, he hadn't heard from her.
He couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.
But now wasn't the time to think about that. He was sure that she was strong, comparable to the Dragon King or Jude. She might be even stronger.
"You've let out deep breaths like five times in a row now." A soft voice came from below him.
Dexter raised his head to see Lily lying on his chest, holding him tightly. She was growing extremely fast—too fast.
She pouted, staring at him.
"Well, I was just thinking about something." He shrugged.
"When are you not thinking about something?" A familiar voice came from behind him.
"Have you learned a new trick? I didn't even hear your steps." Dexter smiled, looking at the girl that was behind him.
Hannah was looking as beautiful as ever. Her brown curly hair glistened in the sun and her chocolate skin seemed even smoother.
'It might be true that witches age backwards.' Dexter chuckled inwardly.
"And why are you smiling now?" Hannah asked, taking a seat by his side.
Dexter didn't reply and relaxed once more, staring at the sun again.
Lily gave Hannah a questioning gaze.
"Don't mind him, he thinks too much about everything. I can bet he's thinking of when the apocalypse would end or what the next phase would be," Hannah said, looking at Dexter.
He was dumbfounded.
"I'm not thinking of anything like that. It's just that so much has changed, and we're all used to it now. It's amazing, really." He smiled.
Personally, for him, it was a great attribute of humans—the fact that they can adapt even in the most pressuring of situations.
Almost everyone in camp now acted as if the apocalypse had been going on their entire lives.
But Dexter knew if a second-class, or even a third-class creature were to show up, it wouldn't be so peaceful anymore.
Hannah laid her head on his chest, snuggling next to him.
"Hey! This is my spot!" Lily complained, giving Hannah a dangerous frown.
"Lily, can't you share?" Hannah tried to pet her head, but the little girl slapped her hand away.
"No, no, no. It's my turn. You get to be with him every day at night and you sleep together." Lily complained.
"She's right, Hannah. You're a greedy girl." Dexter patted Lily on the head.
"Whatever, I'll see you later." Hannah frowned, jumping off the building.
"Big brother, are you ready to have a child?" Lily asked, her golden eyes staring at his face.
"Why do you ask?"
"Hmmm... You and Aunty are already doing the union of adults." Lily smiled.
Dexter's lips twitched as he heard her, and he had to look at her at this point.
"Well, union of adults, huh?" He smirked. "It wouldn't be nice to bring a child into this kind of world. At least, until all the phases are over."
...
An hour later, Jude finally arrived at the camp from where he went.
Rameses, who was by the gate at that time, saw him and immediately waved at him.
"How was it?" Rameses asked with a frown.
Jude shook his head, his blue eyes holding a deep worry.
"It's bad. Over a hundred of them are seventh class, over thirty sixth class, thirteen fifth class, and eleven fourth-class creatures..." Jude paused, allowing Rameses to digest what he had just heard.
'It's bad.' Rameses thought, looking back at the buildings and soldiers.
All the soldiers seemed joyous, happy, and going about their day. Most of them had reached seventh class already, but it was still not enough.
"At least there aren't too many." Rameses sighed, looking at Jude.
His calm expression soon went down the drain as he noticed Jude looking down with a frown himself.
"What is it?" Rameses asked.
The soldier beside Rameses couldn't help but feel a strong urge to run away from the camp.
'Fourth-class creatures. I only recently reached sixth class. Can we win?' He doubted, gritting his teeth.
Hearing Rameses—his captain—the man looked up.
'Right, if anyone is able to do it, then he can. He has taken on a third-class creature before.' The soldier smiled, looking up at the small floating platform above the camp.
'That vampire too, should be able to help.'
"Jude!" Rameses shouted, snapping the blue-haired boy out of his daze.
"A–ah. Sorry about that. I was trying to remember how many third-class creatures I saw." Jude smirked, his arm trembling.
The man beside them suddenly felt a wave of fear wash over him.
Rameses looked at Jude's arm, which trembled, and he raised it up to see a huge wound by the side of his torso, which was covered by his arm.
"Oops. That one was caused by what I feel is the leader of these particular titans. I suspect it's second class." Jude shook his head, walking over to the side to sit on the ground.
Rameses followed behind, a sweat drop sliding down his face.
They had been tracking these titans for a while. Since the entire camp was practically built on the edge of the land, almost completely on water, they knew that their most dangerous foes would be sea creatures.
But Rameses didn't expect that there would be a creature already at the second class.
The soldier who was with Rameses fell to his knees; on his face was pure fear. The man was terrified.
Third-class creatures can wipe out an entire country. Those things are fast and dangerous, mostly having weird and special powers.
But a second class...
