Chapter 539: The Pitiful Traditional Chinese Medicine Consultation Room

Wang Yan got himself a white coat and started looking for the Traditional Chinese Medicine room.

However, Wang Yan searched the entire hospital and finally found a room in the darkest corner on the first floor. If he hadn't inquired, Wang Yan would have thought it was just a storage room.

Opening the door, he saw the room was extremely dim, and there was even a musty smell. Compared to the bright departments elsewhere in the hospital, it was like heaven and earth.

Wang Yan walked into the room, looked around, and saw the place was dirty and shabby, with only two desks. A middle-aged doctor sat at one desk, while the other was empty and covered in dust.

The middle-aged doctor, seeing Wang Yan enter, asked somewhat unexpectedly, "Are you here for treatment?"

Wang Yan shook his head and replied, "No, I'm a doctor here to start work."

Hearing this, the middle-aged doctor smiled wryly and said, "No wonder, I was just wondering why a patient would come here."

Wang Yan, hearing this, asked doubtfully, "Do you mean no one comes to see the TCM doctors?"

The middle-aged doctor nodded and said, "That's right. If I can see two patients in a month, it's pretty good. Now that you're here, I might see only one a month and you can have the other."

Seeing the dejected look on the middle-aged doctor's face, Wang Yan smiled faintly and said, "Now that I'm here, things will change."

The middle-aged doctor sighed, pointed to the empty desk, and said, "No one is using that desk. You can sit there."

Wang Yan nodded and was about to sit down.

Just then, the door suddenly swung open, and two people rushed in.

The middle-aged doctor, seeing this, said happily, "It seems a new start brings new things; we have patients now."

Hearing the middle-aged doctor's words, the two people replied unpleasantly, "What new patients? Look carefully, we're the hospital's janitors."

The middle-aged doctor looked closer and saw they were indeed dressed in janitor uniforms.

"What are you here for?" In the hospital, TCM had no status, so even the janitors were rude to him, which made the middle-aged doctor ask angrily.

"Nothing much, another department is short of a desk, so I'm here to take one."

With that, the two janitors approached to move the only empty desk in the room.

The middle-aged doctor shouted angrily, "Nonsense! Other departments are richer than ours, why come here for a desk? Besides, this desk has been here for ten years unused. Today we have a new doctor, and you want to take it away. What's the meaning of this?"

The janitor sneered, "That's not for you to decide."

The middle-aged doctor glared and said, "At least I'm a doctor, and my department should have a say."

The janitor snorted and said, "A doctor in the TCM department, even less than a janitor. But let me tell you, the order to move the desk is from the Young Dean himself. If you have any objections, go talk to the Young Dean."

The middle-aged doctor was about to get angry when he suddenly heard the words "Young Dean" and immediately cowered, only pretending to sound tough, "Don't try to use the Young Dean to pressure me, I'll ask him myself."

The janitors picked up the desk, and as they reached the door, they coldly added, "Big talk? Let's see if you can even meet the Young Dean."

Having said that, they slammed the door and left.

Hearing this, the middle-aged doctor was so angry he gritted his teeth and paced around the room. However, seeing the only empty desk removed, he helplessly said to Wang Yan, "I'm really sorry, but now you have no desk to use."

Wang Yan smiled faintly, not taking the previous incident seriously, and instead looked around, pointing to a small coffee table by the door, said, "I'll work here."

But the small coffee table was too tiny to even hold a medical record, yet, at this point, the middle-aged doctor sighed, as there was nothing more to be done.

In a lavish office in the hospital, Hua Wulian was sitting in a comfortable leather chair. Standing before him were the two janitors who had moved the desk earlier.

After listening to the two janitors recount what had happened, Hua Wulian immediately laughed heartily, clutching his stomach, tears squeezing from the corners of his eyes.

The two janitors watched Hua Wulian obsequiously, repeatedly fawning with smiles.

Hua Wulian waved them away, and the janitors immediately left.

Wiping the tears from his eyes, Hua Wulian finally stopped laughing, thinking to himself, "Wang Yan, Wang Yan, now do you see how capable I am? From today, I'm going to torture you bit by bit, make you more and more miserable. Humph, to think you can compete with me, you didn't even think to find out who I am. I am the Young Dean of Wanghai City Hospital."

As Hua Wulian was reveling in his thoughts, he suddenly heard the door open and footsteps approaching.

Looking up, Hua Wulian's face changed, because walking in were the thugs he had once paid to harass Deng Xin.

The leader walking in was none other than Ma Gan.

Seeing the thugs with unfriendly expressions, Hua Wulian became a bit frightened and asked in a trembling voice, "What are you here for?"

Ma Gan walked to Hua Wulian's large desk and said coldly, "I'm here for my hard-earned money."

Hua Wulian frowned and said, "But I've already paid you."

Ma Gan sneered and said, "You gave me fifty thousand back then, that was just for scaring the chick. Now that I've been beaten, the price doubles."

Hearing this, Hua Wulian understood Ma Gan had a point and asked helplessly, "Fine, how much more do you want?"

Ma Gan extended a hand and held up five fingers.

"Another fifty thousand?" Hua Wulian felt a bit relieved; although it pained him a bit, he could still afford it.

Unexpectedly, Ma Gan shook his head and said, "No, five hundred thousand."

"What? Five hundred thousand, why don't you just go rob someone?" Hua Wulian jumped up and yelled, eyes wide open.

Ma Gan's face turned cold, and he said chillingly, "How do you know we're not?"

With that, Ma Gan raised his hand, revealing a dagger. With a thud, it was thrust into Hua Wulian's desk, vibrating intensely.

Hua Wulian was startled, his legs gave out, and he collapsed to the floor. After swallowing hard, he stared at the dagger and finally said, "I'll... I'll give it."

...

Watching Ma Gan and the others leave, it took a long time for Hua Wulian to regain his composure.

Seeing his open safe and realizing all his savings, the five hundred thousand, were gone, Hua Wulian's face turned green.

Clenching his teeth, Hua Wulian stood up slowly, gripping the table with both hands, and said viciously, "Wang Yan, this is all your doing. I can't torture you slowly anymore; today I want you dead. Just wait, I'll send all the critical, dying patients in the hospital to your TCM office. As long as one dies, I'll charge you with murder, and you'll spend the rest of your life in prison."
