Chapter 973: Don't Even Think About Escaping
A thunderous crack erupted in the air, completely drowning out the thunderous sound emitted from Yi Yun's hand. Accompanying the crack was another inexplicable boom. As the crimson thunder light was struck by the newcomer, the red light shattered instantly like glass, transforming into countless tiny flashes of thunder, converging toward the newcomer's right hand. The thunder crack echoed immediately.
The tiny thunder lights moved with incredible speed, attaching themselves to the newcomer's right hand at the moment they appeared, followed by another boom. The crimson thunder lights burst in a chain reaction. A cry of pain was heard amidst the dazzling electric light, yet only the blinding red flash remained, obscuring everything else.
Yi Yun, who had been forced back, had no way to block the layer upon layer of Qi Force invading his body, drifting and flying backward rapidly like a kite with a broken string. There was no longer any pain in Yi Yun's right arm; red blood continuously oozed from his ruptured skin and flesh, instantly coagulating into scabs, while purple thunder light coiled around his arm, flickering constantly, attempting to neutralize the Qi Force intruding into his arm.
The newcomer used some unknown technique; no matter how Yi Yun mobilized the energy within him to intercept the Qi Force, it was as slippery as an eel, impossible to grasp. This left Yi Yun extremely frustrated, able to distinctly feel the presence of the Qi Force but unable to stop it.
With a bang, Yi Yun violently crashed back to the ground. This time he could no longer dodge as nimbly as before, hitting the ground and stirring up a cloud of filthy dust. A mouthful of blood spewed out, and a sweet metallic taste filled his nose and mouth. Struggling a few times, Yi Yun finally stood up, bent over, and enduring the pain radiating from all over his body.
The right arm that originally felt nothing suddenly throbbed with stabbing pain. The sudden agony elicited a cry of pain from Yi Yun, making his once-clear eyes blur slightly from the torment. Yet before the pain eased, the sound of clothing flapping in the wind reached his ears.
A beast-like intuition made the already dim-witted Yi Yun snap back to clarity in an instant. A sense of danger was approaching. Yi Yun couldn't determine from which direction the sound was coming, as it was now coming from all sides. More than one person. This thought popped up in Yi Yun's mind.
Yi Yun knew clearly that if he confronted his adversaries in his current state, he would be captured in no time. Gritting his teeth, his right arm suddenly convulsed, and the once-entangled thunder light shot from the lacerated flesh into his body. His arm, returned to its original appearance, instantly swelled, pulsing as if alive, and the already ruptured flesh cracked open once again, the barely stemmed blood seeping from the wound anew.
Letting out a low growl, Yi Yun shook his arm, and a muffled thunder suddenly sounded. His arm split open, and a streak of thunder light shot forth, wrapped in a circle of strange white Qi Force. In the last moment, Yi Yun chose the most dangerous method to extract the invading Qi Force from his body. Though the Qi Force was removed, it also caused further harm to his already seriously injured body.
Yi Yun hadn't had time to stop the bleeding from his arm when the sound of something piercing the air abruptly halted, and a silhouette appeared before him. The person glanced at Yi Yun, then fixed their gaze on the still-glimmering crimson thunder light. The thunder light Yi Yun had broken open hadn't completely dissipated, and the person enveloped in it was unclear of their situation.
"How disgraceful. To be made so ragged by a mere kid," the person said indifferently.
A cold snort emerged from the thunder light, seemingly dissatisfied with the comment. "If you think this is just ordinary thunder light, feel free to try it yourself." As the voice emanated from the lightning, the originally roiling thunder light seemed to be controlled by something, converging towards a single point and finally condensing into a pulsating red Thunder Ball exuding a violent aura. Although the Thunder Ball's violent aura had diminished significantly, one could still imagine the power it previously contained.
The thunder light subsided, revealing the person who had previously battled Yi Yun. He extended his left hand to hold the red Thunder Ball, a layer of white light flickering on his palm, emanating a cold aura, seemingly an Ice Element Superpower User.
"I'd really like to have a go, but it seems there's no chance now, Giles." The later arrival flicked the index finger of his right hand, a tiny purple thunder light twining around his fingertip.
Giles, the person who had fought Yi Yun, flashed a trace of white light in his eyes, looking at the person playing with the electric light, remarked, "You can try this." Without waiting for the person's response, Giles threw the red Thunder Ball towards them.
The red Thunder Ball flew straight towards the person playing with the thunder light, no fancy tricks but at incredible speed.
"You think this mere thunder light could harm me? Giles, you belittle me too much." The person said, extending their right hand, spreading their fingers wide, grasping the air. A crisp 'pop' sounded in the void, capturing the incoming red Thunder Ball within a Thunder Net. The person beckoned lightly, intending to examine what the red thunder light was, only to see Giles snap his fingers.
A flash of white light swept across the red Thunder Ball, and the previously suppressed red thunder light began to surge violently, like boiling water. Within the Thunder Net, lightning flashed and thunder roared. Even the person proficient in Thunder Control was startled by the sight. The thunder attribute fluctuations emanating from the red Thunder Ball were many times stronger than those from the Thunder Net.
"Giles, you've betrayed me..." The person's words were drowned out by the thunder. The red thunder light broke free from the Thunder Net's binding, exploding. But this time, the Thunder Ball had no target.
The exploding Thunder Ball affected the Thunder Controller nearby. Streaks of red thunder light pierced the person's skin like needles. Although these didn't genuinely hurt them, it made their situation extremely awkward.
Continuous curses emanated from within the thunder light, accompanied by dark purple thunder light, clearly compressed and released, containing much more energy than Yi Yun's purple thunder light ever did.
In just a few breaths, the red thunder light was entirely consumed by the dark purple thunder light. As the thunder light receded, a flustered individual was revealed, their eyes covered in thunder glow, hands flickering with thunder light. They stared fiercely at Giles, wanting to hurl insults yet at a loss for words. So, he let out a cold snort, his body transforming into thunder light, dashing towards Giles.
Giles, initially grinning cheekily, immediately donned a serious expression upon seeing the person charging at him. He clasped his hands together and then spread them; a white fog enveloped him instantaneously, obscuring his figure from view. However, Giles didn't simply wait for the attack; as the fog enveloped him, he charged forward.
The heavily injured Yi Yun watched, slack-jawed, as his supposed allies became enemies, their weapons already clashing. He couldn't decide if the two were truly comrades. Nonetheless, Yi Yun seized the chance to stop the bleeding wounds and prepared to escape.
"Kid, don't even think about running away, or I'll break your legs." A soft and sweet voice suddenly reached Yi Yun's ears, sending chills down his spine. A woman in flamboyant attire had somehow appeared beside Yi Yun, smiling as she watched Giles and the other person about to clash.
The sudden voice startled Yi Yun, making him break into a cold sweat, yet he dared not utter a word. He knew that any of the other three present could kill him ten thousand times over. As Yi Yun's mind raced with thoughts, an oddly fragrant scent entered his nostrils, prompting a slight shiver in his body, and he noticed that his pain was alleviating considerably. Yi Yun remained expressionless, shifting his gaze to Giles and the other person still fighting fiercely.
