Chapter 955: He Has Disappeared

But Zhu Bufan, or rather Nameless, was naturally violent. Even knowing he had no chance of victory, he was unwilling to submit. So he raised his head high, looked at the sky, and said: "So what? If you have the skill, show yourself."

"Indeed, you are an ignorant young boy. Let me show you the difference between us." The elder's voice suddenly let out a faint shout. A ripple stirred on the lake surface.

Zhu Bufan suddenly felt the air around him grow heavy. It was an indescribable sensation, as though weighed down by something invisible. He quietly circulated the Qi within his body, trying to rid himself of the intangible feeling. Yet it was of no use. He had no idea how the master of the Virtual Realm had attacked, nor when he had fallen prey. All he could do now was respond to each move as it came.

"Such a clever boy, to think of breaking my attack this way." The elder's voice suddenly expressed admiration, only to change tone again, "But your Power is insufficient. If you could attain the Void Realm, you might stand a chance. For now, you'd better surrender quietly." As the words fell, the wind suddenly erupted.

Just when he felt like he was burdened with countless weights, Zhu Bufan suddenly felt his body lighten, as a violent wind blew him upward. He began spinning in the wind, nonstop. The gust disrupted the Qi outside his body, causing the Qi within him to similarly go awry. With his Qi in chaos, Zhu Bufan spit out a mouthful of fresh blood. Already injured, he suffered further harm, and an abnormal blush appeared on his pallid face.

The wind arose abruptly and ceased just as suddenly. When Zhu Bufan was fifty meters above the ground, the wind vanished. He plummeted from the sky, crashing heavily onto a flower-strewn ground, causing him to spit out another mouthful of blood.

"Will you come out now?" The elder's voice sounded again, with a hint of inquiry.

"Not a chance." Zhu Bufan crawled up from the ground, clenching his teeth as he answered.

"Then I'll have to use force." A beam of white light suddenly descended from the sky, enveloping Zhu Bufan.

When the white light touched him, Zhu Bufan let out a wail, bending over in pain and kneeling on the ground. Beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, and his red eyes started shifting colors, sometimes turning black, sometimes silver, and then back to red again. His skin slowly began to return to the hue of a normal person.

Suddenly, Zhu Bufan cried out in agony, his body emitting large clouds of blood mist. With another spurt of fresh red blood, his skin began to crack inch by inch, and scarlet blood gushed from the fissures. Abruptly, Zhu Bufan straightened his back, clenched his fists, and fiercely pounded his chest. With a thud, Zhu Bufan opened his mouth and expelled a ball of red light. Once the red light appeared, the scarlet blood mist continually gathered towards it. The red light circled around Zhu Bufan's body, then suddenly accelerated and broke through the barrier set by the white light, disappearing with a swoosh into the Virtual Realm, while Zhu Bufan fell silently to the ground.

"Indeed a ruthless character, willing to use Soul Power just to escape. Now there's a big problem." The elder's voice rang out, and then the white light suddenly converged. An old man with crane-white hair and youthful features appeared beside Zhu Bufan. He wore a white long robe, casually tying his white hair with a black ribbon. His gaze was benevolent as he looked at the fallen Zhu Bufan.

"The boy has a great destiny as well, unexpectedly retaining his consciousness even after being devoured. It seems the future troubles will be yours to handle." The elder's face appeared extremely mischievous as he opened his right hand, casting white light over Zhu Bufan. The wounds on Zhu Bufan's body healed rapidly, and even his pallid complexion began to turn rosy, though he did not awaken.

"Who knew this boy had received the ancient inheritance, yet it's unclear which old man left the inheritance." The elder suddenly looked sorrowfully into the distance, formed a sword gesture with his right hand, pointed at Zhu Bufan, and waved. Zhu Bufan's body suddenly floated up. The elder directly tossed Zhu Bufan into the lake. The fish in the lake were of unknown species, but upon seeing Zhu Bufan fall into the water, they quickly gathered to support him, gently carrying him to the center of the lake. Once at the lake's center, the fish dispersed, yet curiously, Zhu Bufan did not sink, for reasons unknown about the lake's oddity.

The elder turned and vanished from the scene.

Yichen and Xuan Yang brought Xiao Ruo and Long Feiyun to the old mad scientist's lab. With Xuan Yang's ability, curing their superficial wounds was trivial; however, certain conditions within their bodies required some special medicine and self-repair by Xiao Ruo and Long Feiyun. It was a long process. Upon returning to the lab, Yichen contacted the Dragon Team, requesting they dispatch personnel to search for Zhu Bufan's whereabouts in the mountains. Yichen instructed them to find Zhu Bufan at all costs, even if it was just his remains. Until Zhu Bufan was found, Yichen could not ease his mind. His instincts told him Zhu Bufan must have experienced something out of the ordinary to act so forcefully, for Zhu Bufan would never suddenly strike so brutally otherwise.

Yet the problem was they couldn't find Zhu Bufan. Zhu Bufan seemed to have vanished from this world altogether. The Dragon Team practically flattened the mountain without finding any trace of Zhu Bufan, nor any signs of someone leaving. All indications were that Zhu Bufan had disappeared completely and utterly, but they had no means to ascertain how.

Xiao Ruo and Long Feiyun were still in a coma, occasionally waking from nightmares only to immediately pass out again. They had been in slumber for nearly half a month. In these weeks, Yichen and Xuan Yang hardly slept, though given their strength, even a year's sleeplessness was inconsequential. However, with their minds occupied with concern, it was a different matter. Both were tense, fearing that Xiao Ruo and Long Feiyun would suddenly be unable to endure.

Another half month passed, and Xiao Ruo and Long Feiyun finally awoke. Xiao Ruo's first words upon awakening were to ask about where Zhu Bufan was. He hadn't seen Zhu Bufan's figure and didn't know what had become of him.

Xuan Yang remained silent, and Yichen, after a moment of reflection, replied: "Zhu Bufan is missing." His voice was trembling noticeably.

Upon hearing Yichen's reply, Xiao Ruo was suddenly stunned, and after a while, he burst into tears. Among them, he had spent the longest time with Zhu Bufan and had the deepest feelings for him. Now hearing that Zhu Bufan was missing, with his fate unknown, he couldn't help but feel sorrowful.

In the deep mountains, clear bird calls occasionally echoed, while occasionally large beasts rustled through the bushes.
