Chapter 1066: Not That Simple
"Why are you leaving?" the cloaked person spoke, not answering Yi Tian's question, but rather throwing out another question, one that left Yi Tian momentarily unsure of how to respond.
"I am an ominous person, only bringing disaster to those around me." The words were difficult, and a hint of pain flashed across his face. He felt he should have listened to the old man long ago, handling things alone instead of involving others. He should have done so long before. Yet, he had forgotten the old man's teachings, wandering the world without urgency to do what should be done.
"An ominous person?" The cloaked person's tone changed. "If I hadn't met you, I might still be hiding in the Underground City like a rat. How could you be an ominous person?"
"If I hadn't pursued you back then, I wouldn't have escaped the Alliance's control. Can someone like you really be an ominous person?" As he spoke, one of the cloaked figures removed his hood, revealing his face—it was William. The others followed suit, revealing themselves as Shu and others.
They looked at Yi Tian, and after those words, they didn't know what else to say. Often, words can help one persist, but actions can provide strength. Just like Shu and the others gave Yi Tian a feeling of strength at this moment.
"Aren't you afraid I'll drag you down?" His face remained calm, but a slight ripple rose in his heart. Yi Tian knew these people followed out of concern for him, and he didn't want to burden them by having them follow. After all, he wasn't only facing the people of the Alliance, but also more troublesome individuals. Those people had yet to reveal themselves.
"If we were afraid of death, we wouldn't have come." William raised an eyebrow slightly. "Even if we don't follow you, the Alliance will hunt us down. Instead of waiting to die, we might as well cause a big ruckus. Even if I die, I want to take a big bite out of the Alliance." A ferocious smile appeared on his face, revealing the viciousness in William's Mental Realm. Behind him, Cook and the other three had a look of determination as if this was only natural.
Shu and El merely looked at Yi Tian and said nothing more, but the determined expressions on their faces made their intentions clear.
Seeing everyone like this, Yi Tian didn't know what to feel. He originally intended to find Bai Lian at the Alliance and sever his thoughts completely, then focus on doing what the old man instructed. However, he was no longer the young, naive person he once was and understood that one person alone couldn't accomplish things. Especially after witnessing Tang Mu and others' methods, he didn't know where to find help. Jiu and others were undoubtedly the best helpers, but those four were like ghosts, appearing and disappearing without a trace, making it almost impossible for him to find them.
At this critical moment, William and the others followed him and expressed such an attitude, leaving Yi Tian at a loss for how to respond. He looked at the group, glanced around, and realized he couldn't persuade them to go back. He could only sigh and said in a hoarse voice, "Since that's the case, let's go."
Yi Tian made his stand, and Shu and the others let out a small sigh of relief. Even if Yi Tian hadn't expressed it, they would have followed him, but they knew Yi Tian's methods. He could shake them off and disappear completely, as he did last night. If Situ Hao hadn't noticed early, they would have lost his trail long ago.
Finally getting Yi Tian to nod in agreement was an opportunity they couldn't miss, so they hurriedly caught up with the already distant Yi Tian. All along, Yi Tian had been reacting to the situation before him, rather than taking the initiative. It wasn't until now that he walked the path of his choice. But where this path would lead was an unknown.
"Where are we going?"
"Alliance?"
"What for?"
"To kill!"
From beginning to end, the answer was cold, and Yi Tian seemed like a person who had completely lost his emotions, treating everything before him coldly. The group headed in the direction of the Alliance, and under the sunlight, their backs revealed the solemn aura of warriors heading to the battlefield. What they would encounter was unknown, but what the Alliance would face could be guessed.
Gradually, their figures dissolved into the light, disappearing from view.
A few days later, a city on the edge of the Alliance was attacked by a group. The outpost there was completely destroyed, and none of the Alliance's Superpower Users survived; only ordinary soldiers were left alive. However, those who survived were nearly catatonic, only muttering the words "Demon, Demon." All equipment in the outpost was destroyed, leaving nothing intact.
No power claimed responsibility for this, and no one knew who had attacked the Alliance's outpost. That group appeared like ghosts, suddenly massacring the outpost's Superpower Users and then disappearing suddenly. For a time, the Alliance was in panic and turmoil internally. The Alliance's top brass was incredibly shocked; at this point in the war, their city had been plundered by people—how could they not be furious?
Equally shocked were people from other powers. Someone attacking an Alliance outpost indicated another force they didn't know about had emerged. From the ruthless means of this force, those people were certainly not ordinary individuals. With such a situation arising, various powers quickly dispatched personnel to investigate the mysterious force.
However, they found nothing; the force seemed non-existent, with no trace to follow.
Only those who knew the truth kept it to themselves.
"Was it really that kid who did it?" Looking at the clouds leisurely drifting outside, Jiu asked the child lazily.
"No reason to lie about this, boss." The child plopped down on the ground, his expression rather discontented. After all, he had rushed back to inform them of this news and would need to continue monitoring that little guy Yi Tian soon.
"What do they intend to do?" Jiu was baffled as to why Yi Tian and others suddenly launched such a substantial attack on the Alliance's outpost. Previously, Yi Tian had never acted like this, and such an abnormal behavior piqued his curiosity.
"I don't know. Maybe they want to create chaos within the Alliance to find Bai Lian." The child answered casually. Yi Tian seeking Bai Lian had long been no secret. It was also the sole reason Yi Tian would trouble the Alliance.
"It's not that simple." White Wolf tossed the Dagger in his hand, also showing a puzzled expression. Yi Tian's situation was really strange; with just a few people daring to trouble the Alliance, even if they were all masters, what could they do? If trapped in an inner city of the Alliance, they couldn't escape even with wings. The inner cities of the Alliance were not as fragile as the outer ones.
"Just keep an eye on them. If anything seems off, stop them immediately." Jiu couldn't figure out Yi Tian's thoughts and could only arrange things this way. "This matter can't get out."
"Got it." The child got up from the ground and ran out in a flash. For him, staying still in one place was unbearable. Watching Yi Tian and his group wreak havoc was much more entertaining.
As soon as the child left, Lazy Cat, who had been asleep in the corner with his eyes closed, woke up. His first words upon opening his eyes were somewhat inexplicable.
"They've moved."
This statement with no context caused Jiu and White Wolf's expressions to change simultaneously. They immediately walked over to Lazy Cat to listen to what else he had to say. But Lazy Cat fell back asleep after that sentence, no matter how they called him. This situation made Jiu and White Wolf even more tense.
