Urban Immortal Cultivation Supreme

Chapter 1011: The Great Battle

The soft whip entwined with flames resembled a Fire Snake. Missing its first strike, it immediately slithered on the ground like a living creature, coiling towards Sodar's feet. The whip's speed was beyond human perception, and combined with the attached Fire Ability, if ensnared by such a whip, even a Superpower User would likely suffer severe injuries.

Sodar never expected Doro to have such a bizarre and exquisite control over the whip, nor did he expect to be forced into such a predicament. Just now, he ducked and lunged forward, barely evading the opponent's first blow, but before he could stabilize himself, the next attack followed instantly. As the whip was about to coil around his leg, Sodar could feel the scorching heat of the flames emanating from it. At that moment, he was at a standstill, unable to muster any strength.

Suddenly, a green light flashed by, and Sodar felt a gust of wind behind him followed by a muffled thud. Sparks flew, as a finger-length Wind Shuttle nailed down the head of the soft whip. The pinned whip wriggled like a snake grabbed by its vital point, trying to escape the bind. At the critical moment, Jue arrived just in time to forcefully nail the soft whip to the ground.

"Dodge quickly!" Jue shouted from mid-air, simultaneously waving his right hand. Five Wind Balls immediately hurled towards Doro nearby. He knew Doro was extremely powerful, and the Fire Ability was inherently explosive, exerting pressure over Wind Attribute abilities, so he dared not be careless.

No sooner did Jue's shout fade, the whip burst with a flash of fire, shattering the Wind Shuttle to pieces. The fire from the whip lashed out directly at the nearby Sodar like a fierce beast released from its cage. The whip, moving in the fire, raised its head like a snake and directly attacked Sodar, concealed within the flames.

Doro, a bit farther away, didn't care about the five Wind Balls coming down. While Wind Attribute Superpower Users are extremely fast, they lack strength, which everyone knew. So, Doro simply waved his hand, unleashing a dozen fire lights to intercept the incoming Wind Balls. Then he moved like a ghost through the darkness, his movement technique not intricate but effective under the cover of night.

The five Wind Balls collided with the attacking firelight, with loud booms extinguishing the fire while the balls hung twirling in mid-air, unable to advance further. With no choice, Jue had to recall the Wind Balls, knowing that a frontal confrontation with his abilities would yield no advantage, necessitating a tactical skirmish instead.

As for Sodar, the only one able to suppress the opponent with strength, he fell into dire straits once more. Just as Jue relieved him in the most critical moment, the whip broke free from the Wind Shuttle and curled towards Sodar again. Fortunately, this attack's force was immense, and the earlier pause gave Sodar a moment to recover. As the fire lashed towards him, Sodar retreated rapidly, pulling a forearm-length short rod from his waist, which extended into a long staff with a flick.

With the staff in hand, Sodar's aura changed dramatically, a glint of purple light flashed in his eyes, and a static buzz emanated from him, with occasional Electric Arcs darting from his fingers. With confidence restored, Sodar quickly distanced himself from the whip, issued a low growl, and swung the staff down. The staff drew a purple arc through the air, accompanied by a crackling sound from its tip. The fire headed for Sodar was forcefully repelled by the staff, revealing the whip hidden within the flames.

In a swift move, the whip coiled onto Sodar's staff. Doro pulled the whip hard, trying to snatch away Sodar's staff. But how could Sodar lack in Cultivation Technique on the staff? As soon as the whip coiled, he twirled the staff, generating circles of electricity on its surface, assaulting the encircling whip while the constant twirling prevented the whip from securing its hold.

With another explosive sound, the tail end of the whip abruptly burst, purple electricity intertwined with red fire, vanishing into the air. Crisis averted, Sodar let out a beast-like roar, propelled himself with a forceful kick, and dashed towards Doro not far away. Against a foe using a thin whip, the strategy was to close the gap, preventing the whip from being fully utilized.

Sodar's speed was undoubtedly fast, but Doro, the old fox, reacted even faster. Seeing Sodar's movement, he understood Sodar's intent, without hesitation he discarded the whip, drawing a forearm-length knife from his waist. Charging instead of retreating, Doro advanced towards the approaching Sodar.

Doro's adaptability did not surprise Sodar. On the contrary, if such a master had no tricks, it would be most peculiar. With a surge of superpower, the knife was engulfed in shimmering firelight, Doro's scarred and twisted face appearing even more sinister under the glow. Both moved with exceptional speed, and within moments, they clashed at close quarters.

From the knife's edge, firelight erupted silently, engulfing Sodar's staff invisibly and reaching towards his hand. The flames, like small serpents with fanged mouths, lunged at Sodar. Unfazed, Sodar, though Doro's control was precise, Fire superpower gained no edge against the equally violent Thunder Power.

With a cold hum, Sodar tightened his grip on the staff, sending a current through his arm into the staff. His staff, made of conductive metal, channeled the current forward. The purple electricity quickly consumed the advancing flames, then began to reverse back towards Doro's knife.

Always remaining passive would only put himself at a disadvantage, so Sodar wisely chose to counterattack. Sodar's strike was extremely swift, but Doro evidently didn't intend to give any opportunity, forcefully parrying Sodar's descending staff and leaping forward, his left palm striking towards Sodar's chest.

This palm had no glittering effects, not even the red glow characteristic of a Fire Element User, yet no one doubted its power. Its aura was sharp to the extreme, despite the lack of shine.

When Doro got close, Sodar's staff lost its advantage. At such a distance, it was impossible for Sodar to counter with the staff, but he was ruthless. Seeing the staff's ineffectiveness, he boldly tossed it skyward and retreated to distance himself from Doro.

Once Sodar moved, Doro pursued relentlessly. The two flitted around the dark mountaintop like ghosts. Their pace wasn't particularly fast from Jue's perspective, but he couldn't find any opportunity to intervene, so he remained hovering nearby, watching.

Doro's attack methods were diverse; sometimes he slashed, other times he struck with his palm, and occasionally released intricate sparks towards the retreating Sodar. He knew that without the staff, Sodar had no means to counter him, so he never intended to give Sodar any chance to strike back. Fortunately for Sodar, his ability was Thunder Power; otherwise, against Doro's bizarre and versatile methods, he'd have long been reduced to a charred corpse.

With a boom, as Doro struck with the knife, an explosion of fire erupted. The fire's force exceeded Sodar's expectations, forcing him to block with Thunder Power. Though the fire was blocked, the impact sent Sodar reeling, blood spurting from his mouth. Doro's knife packed such power, unexpected to Sodar, but instead of fear, it stirred his fierceness. With a growl, Sodar crouched and charged at Doro like an enraged bull.
