Chapter 360: Meeting The Team
Chapter 360: Meeting The Team
Later that night, the group had all finally gathered in the training room that Mako had booked for them.
The two new members Alexi and Isabella introduced themselves to the group and explained a little about their abilities and skill set so that everyone had a general understanding of their power level and combat style.
Alexi of course possessed the Level 6 Lightning ability with both the yellow and purple variants alongside the Level 5 Earth ability and the Level 4 Magnetism ability which was the result of resonating his Lightning and Earth abilities together.
Alexi didn't explain much about his personal life or family, only going as far as saying that his entire family has been a part of the military for generations and that he was trained to be a fighter from a very young age meaning he has great close combat skills.
Isabella introduced her abilities as she possessed three of the five basic elemental abilities, including Water, Earth, and Wind, all leveled up to level 5.
She explained that both her parents were scientists and that she had a great amount of knowledge in the fields of physics, chemistry, geology, etc but she didn't want to follow her parents' footsteps and instead wanted to make a name for herself by becoming a strong high- grade officer to fight for justice.
Seeing as the two new members were introducing themselves, Mako decided that it was only fair for the rest of them to introduce themselves as well since not everyone was acquainted well with each other at this point.
The others agreed with Mako and up first was Erin. She had spent some time crying alone in her dorm room but the encouraging words of Mako and Bill gave her strength and she knew that she had to remain strong for everyone's sake.
She maintained her composure and cheerfully introduced herself like she would have normally done. Erin had upgraded her abilities and skill set a lot by training nonstop and now she wasn't the same Erin during the recruitment test at all.
Erin now possessed both the Water and Wind abilities at Level 5 and also possessed the Ice ability that was now at Level 3 which was the result of her resonating her Water and Wind abilities together accidently.
Alongside her Ice ability, she also possessed the Ice mutant gene which she demonstrated by activating it for a few seconds which made her eyes glow a cold icy white.
Alexi was a person who didn't show much emotion on his face but the sight of Erin activating her Mutant Gene and the increase in the pressure of the air from her intensified aura had left his eyes widened with shock.
Isabella too had an expression of pure shock and surprise as she witnessed a live demonstration of someone using the Mutant Gene as up until now she had only read about it; however, unlike Alexi who still remained quiet, Isabella couldn't force herself to remain calm any longer.
"How were you able to awaken the mutant gene at such a young age? Does it hurt when you activate it? How much power do you think you get from it? How long does it last?" Isabella started asking a barrage of questions like a massive fangirl meeting her star for the very first time.
Erin was taken aback by all the sudden questions and admiration that Isabella was giving her and before she could answer, Mako jumped in to calm her down.
"It's not so nice to ask someone about such personal things, the power she possesses was very difficult for her to obtain and she doesn't like talking about it," Mako said as he remembered that Andrew was the reason Erin had gotten this power and it wasn't a good time for her to relieve those memories.
"Oh... I am terribly sorry, Erin... I didn't mean to intrude on your personal life... I'm so sorry..." Isabella began to apologize frantically.
"It's okay, Bella... I'm fine..." Erin said to cut her apology short and end her introduction, now not appearing as cheery as she did at the beginning.
"Way to steal the spotlight," Leon teased Erin as he came forward to introduce himself next.
Leon had also been training extremely hard, even more than Mako as not only did he share the same guilt as Mako over losing Iris but also the fact that he was the one who contributed the least to their mission due to his lack of skills and power.
Leon now possessed a Level 6 Speed ability making him the fastest out of the group by a huge margin as well as also possessing a Level 5 Hardening ability and a Level 5 Earth ability.
Out of everyone in the group, Leon was the one who had improved the greatest amount out of anyone as he now had a lot more muscle on his body and had learned an array of skills for each of his abilities; courtesy of his father who had given him a literal trunk full of skill books before sending him off to military school and he was able to learn almost all of them.
Leon didn't want to open another whole can of worms by telling everyone about his background and family as that information was best left with Mako and Bill only so he just said that his father was a regular businessman in Emerald City.
Next, it was Nathan's turn. Out of the group, Nathan was the only one who wasn't keen on opening up to a bunch of people about himself but after spending a couple of months with people that he now was comfortable saying were his friends, he gave in and introduced himself as well.
He didn't tell anyone, not even Mako about his family or past as that was still something he kept locked away in his heart, so all he did was to introduce himself as a person with his only goal being to get stronger and that he possessed the abilities Advanced Perception, Blood Wolf Transformation, and Explosion all leveled at Level 5.
Alexi and Isabella were both a bit surprised as Nathan didn't possess any of the regular abilities that 99% of people would have and only possessed higher tier and rare abilities which made them even more curious about his past and who he actually was.
In reality, Nathan didn't possess the Blood Wolf Transformation nor the Explosion ability anymore as he had just used his quirk to mutate and transform his ability from one to another and right now he possessed the Level 5 Hack ability.
In order to protect the secret about his quirk, he had to lie about which abilities he possessed as aside from Mako, nobody else knew the truth.
Combat-wise, Nathan was currently the weakest out of the whole group as both of his current abilities were support abilities and they offered neither offense nor defense; however, he didn't worry too much as he and Mako had already made a plan for him before he would departure for the special exam.
Lastly, there was Mako. Out of everyone from the main group, Mako was the most open about himself and his past which helped in turn to conceal his greatest secret which was the system.
Mako introduced himself as an orphan who lived alone in his family home back in Emerald City and was a regular high school student working part-time at the bakery close to his home. There was no use lying or hiding his vast number of abilities so he just came forward and outsight explained about all of them. He now possessed a Level 5 Fire ability with the Red Fire variant alongside a Level 5 Lightning ability, a Level 3 Earth ability, a Level 2 Energy Manipulation ability which he obtained through resonating his Fire and Lightning abilities, and lastly a Level 2 Poison ability.
The list was long and absurd as not only Isabella and Alexi were surprised to hear the extent of all of his abilities but even his close friends have a hard time believing it every time they are
mentioned.
Isabella rightfully questioned how a regular orphan with no abilities or a strong family background could have advanced so far and gotten so strong to which Mako could only reply that it was just a series of very fortunate coincidences that led him to where he was now but deep down he knew the truth and it was all thanks to the system that his great grandfather had
left him.
Unlike everyone else, Mako did possess a greater number of abilities but those abilities weren't all at a high enough level which he already knew as it was being limited by his
Mentality attribute being too low.
Even though he was strong enough to match people like Alexi using his versatility, he was still no match against any of them in terms of raw power and mastery over their abilities and
skills.
Mako had already recognized his flaw back when he was training after failing their first mission and was now actively working on finding ways to improve all the different things he
had so that he could finally catch up to his friends.
***********
After the round of introductions was over, Mako captured everyone's attention as he pulled out his student card and activated the hologram which began displaying the details and image of the medium and high-tier planet that they would be visiting in a couple of days. "Alright, let's get down to business now, shall we," Mako stated as it would take a lot of planning and preparation to successfully complete their special exam.
