Chapter 48
The scenery changes when the place changes.
I started to realize this more and more recently.
In the past, I took everything I enjoyed for granted.
Because that’s how I lived.
My mother always cared for me, my father did everything for me, and my younger sibling was always cautious.
However, I came to understand recently that all of those things stemmed from my arrogance born of ignorance.
I just thought that was the way it was.
Everything I enjoyed seemed to come automatically, and I believed it was my right to enjoy it.
Until now, unknowingly, my family had sacrificed for me.
A close example is the house.
It had never struck me before, but looking back, we could have lived in a much better and bigger house.
Yet my parents chose to settle in an environment that considered my wellbeing to avoid any negative impacts on me.
All purely for me.
‘… I’ll have to repay them slowly.’
Maybe because I’ve come across too many negative examples on the internet, but as far as I know, these days, it’s not that uncommon for parents to abandon their children.
It doesn’t strike me as natural that parents would inherently provide for their children.
‘I’ll definitely succeed.’
The surest way for me to repay my parents’ dedication and love is my success.
Isn’t it said that nothing pleases parents more than their child’s success?
That’s why…
I will succeed.
As the professional gamer I’ve dreamed of being.
“Shall we head out now?”
“Yeah.”
I quite liked the new house.
Not only was it much larger than my old room, but I could also arrange the layout of my new room to my liking from the start.
Well… if I don’t like the penthouse of a luxury apartment, that’s a problem too.
“Ryon.”
“Yeah.”
On the way back, I absentmindedly stared out the car window before finally turning on my smartphone.
I usually get car sick and don’t look at my phone much in the car, but I couldn’t help but be curious.
As always, when I logged into the Legends of League community, one of the recently uploaded posts caught my eye.
– “Wow, special: You finally come out, but just stare at your phone.”
… I flinched for a moment, but I shrugged it off and started reading the post list.
– “Data warning: Prisoner achieves 1900 points.”
– “Today’s list of pros and amateurs who got owned by Prisoner.txt”
– “Prisoner vs Jjuhsim dead movie.avi”
– ────── Cut line ──────
– “Prisoner, is he a god? Prisoner, is he a god? Prisoner, is he a god?…”
– “This is the Prisoner gallery. This is the Prisoner gallery. This is the Prisoner gallery. This is the Prisoner gallery.”
– “Rainbow’s recent broadcast update.avi”
– “Rainbow’s honest statement: Yoon-ki plays better than Prisoner.”
– “Honest statement: Honestly, if Prisoner’s post is trash, downvote it, lol.”
– “Stop the trolling; how many posts about Prisoner are there on a single page? If that’s the case, make a separate board, damn it.”
Now, it turned from mere interest to heated backlash regarding Prisoner.
‘Hmm.’
Regardless, I clicked on the posts one by one.

“After hitting 1800 points, I rested for a few days and then got another 7 consecutive wins in one day, lol.”
+
“Is it real that you climbed 100 points in just one day? My heart is swelling. Prisoner is truly a legend…”
“Where did all the guys who dismissed Prisoner as an amateur go? Where did all the guys who dismissed Prisoner as an amateur go? Where did all the guys who dismissed Prisoner as an amateur go?”
“Info: Recently owned by Prisoner, Haoran, Nightmare, Yoon-ki, Rainbow, and Jjuhsim, each of whom are Red Cup winners and runners-up.”
“- There’s something odd mixed in there.”
“- Isn’t it difficult for that to even get queued up?”
“- That’s just the BJ and streamers mindlessly targeting him, lol. Anyway, those trolls are nuts.”
“- Is it real that they’re getting wrecked after targeting? Jjuhsim is really a legend…”
“Goal 심! Goal 심! Goal 심! Goal 심! Goal 심! Goal 심! Goal 심! Goal 심! Goal 심! Goal 심! Goal 심! Goal 심!”
“- You guys get lost from here.”
“Is this the one that’s supposed to be the 회광반조? Their form is insane these days.”
Solo ranked 1900 points.
It was no surprise that an achievement unheard of in the history of Legends of League was accomplished by an amateur, not a famous pro player.
Among them, the most noticeable were comparisons with several pro players.
– Yoon-ki vs Prisoner.
– “Honestly, I think Prisoner plays better than Yoon-ki, upvote. No, downvote.”
– “Even if the champion Yoon-ki is given such a pass, isn’t Prisoner definitely playing better than the runner-up Haoran?”
– “Please don’t drag in an amateur who hasn’t even debuted, ^무^.”
– “Why can’t those jungle players who won the Red Cup not hit around 1900 points? They can’t even hit 1800 points, lol.”
– Fact check: Red Cup winners and runners-up Yoon-ki and Haoran have all been thoroughly wrecked by Prisoner.
– Fact: Prisoner has no championships.
– “Saying you have no titles, but you haven’t even debuted, huh, lol. Are you brainless?”
– “Is that something to brag about? You haven’t even debuted, lol. You’re next, ^무^.”
Hmm…
To be honest, if I were to meet them now in solo rank, I’m confident I would beat them eight out of ten times.
That’s how much I’ve changed in many ways compared to before, and the weaknesses I once had have almost disappeared.
But what if we meet in a tournament?
I have no idea. It’s a well-known fact that team games are different from solo rank, and I had hardly any experience with team games.
Back then, as pro or second division teams weren’t as systematic as they are now, I’d sometimes played as a mercenary during scrims, but recently, I haven’t had even that opportunity.
“You’re going to get car sick. Look at your phone when we get home.”
“It’s fine.”
It didn’t take long for me to take my mother’s warning to heart.
“… I think I’m going to throw up.”
“Sigh, that’s why I told you not to look at your phone. Let’s get inside quickly.”
To be honest, since I became a girl, my health has been through the roof, and I think I let my guard down.
I thought I wouldn’t get car sick anymore, but it turns out car sickness is nothing to sniff at.
“Open the window and drink some water.”
“Okay.”
As I drank the water from the thermos, the refreshing feeling spread throughout my body, and it seemed to ease my car sickness a bit.
“Phew…”
Feeling the cool breeze coming in from the window, I looked at the surrounding scenery.
People, people, people.
There were a few less than at the department store, but still, there were plenty of hustling people.
Fortunately, since I was observing from the car, it seemed easier to view the countless crowds as part of the landscape, so I didn’t feel the panic I used to anymore.
‘Huh?’
While I was watching the scenery around me, a giant sign caught my eye.
[Legend Park]
It was the arena of Legends of League.
‘So that’s what it looks like…’
Since the images of the arena in tournament videos were all interior views, this was my first time seeing the exterior.
‘Someday…’
I promise.
Even if it’s a promise with no deadline.
Someday,
I will return to this place.
*
After arriving home, I showered and immediately lay down on my bed.
I needed to sleep soon since Rainbow would be starting the solo rank stream soon.
“Aren’t you eating dinner?”
“No, I’m going to sleep.”
“Okay then.”
My pattern of life being all over the place wasn’t a new issue, so my mother didn’t say much.
“Goodnight.”
After my mother stepped out of the room, I glanced at my smartphone a few times before drifting off to sleep.
Maybe because today was intense, I felt quite tired.
.
.
.
“Ugh…”
When I woke up, I habitually fumbled for my smartphone at the head of my bed.
– AM 1:12
I had lain down on my bed around 7:30 PM, so I must have slept just under 6 hours.
Considering my average sleep time, that’s definitely less than usual, but I soon got up from my bed.
From the moment I woke up, my heart began pounding as if it was about to burst.
“Phew…”
I pressed the power button, and while my computer turned on, I lightly stretched.
Since I had gotten healthier, I needed to manage my body in some way.
Finally, when the computer powered on, I immediately logged into Legends of League.
‘As expected.’
I spotted one of the usernames on my friend list and smiled slightly.

As expected, Rainbow was online.
