Triple X System

Chapter 162: Labyrinth of reflection

Kidnapped by a demon? What does she mean. Kyle wondered, Kimi's word replaying in his head.

Back on earth he was aware Lucifer sent a demon after him. And there was a possibility the demon would make an attempt at kimi, but Lilith was present. And had prevented such from ever happening.

I know it sounds crazy but it's true. I-it had red eyes and massive horns. Kimi gestured imitating the demon's appearance.

Looking at her Kyle had asked snow to scan her for any signs of memory loss or a mind control skill. Which came out negative.

Could she mean Lilith? No.. they hadn't met. He inwardly thought not making any sense of Kimi's word. Slightly shaking his head he dismissed the thought for now saving the questions later.

[Something's not right about her Kyle, don't be naive.] Snow spoke with a suspicious tone.

[Her aura is different from before and there are traces of beast energy surrounding her. She could be a clone or a mimic.] His system inwardly hinted.

A clone.. no s-she's probably been through more horrific scene's. It's my fault this shouldn't have happened. Kyle retorded his voice laced with a bit of anger and guilt.

[Look I know you feel guilty for what happened but it was their choice. They knew the consequences and still obliged. Honestly, they wouldn't have lasted a day on their own so you should be proud.]

Listening to her he couldn't deny snow was right. Yes he'd failed to protect them but separating from them wasn't the brightest of options.

Thank you.

[That wasn't a compliment]

Chuckling a bit he kept a neutral face, his guard now raised. He'd been so happy to reunite with kimi and his parents but had failed to piece together the possibilities.

How were you abducted Kyle? She abruptly asked facing him.

Oh me.. am not sure, it happened so fast. but I remember coming back home and everything suddenly went dark. He lied maintaining his soft poker face.

Am so glad we're together again Kyle. She smiled tightly hugging him. Playing along he hugged her back gently brushing her hair.

Me too.

Moving forward they took the middle hole being the one with the highest energy signature. It was dimly lit like the rest with torches hung on walls illuminating the straight path.

By both sides of the ground were what looked like little blue flower petals. Glowing with a familiar energy.

Mana.. he could vividly sense it's energy having used it just once against troy.

How did it get here? He thought looking front not seeing any signs of a tree nearby. And judging by how they were placed it was certain someone or something put them here.

Wow! they're so pretty.. kimi smiled picking a bunch in her hand.

They're not harmful. A light sigh escaped his lips. Though there was a chance kimi could be a mimic or clone in disguise. There was also the possibility of her being his real aunt kimi.

Come on Kyle, help me with these. She pointed to her head. Placing some to her head something weird happened.

The flower petals on the ground reacted glowing more brightly. Followed by a small gust of wind brushing against his skin.

Huh? W-what's happening. Kimi frighteningly clutched Kyle's arm.

Am not sure.. it seemed to react to you.

What! Me!? T-that's absurd I didn't do anything. She stuttered with a confused look but Kyle could tell she was hiding something.

Boom!

An explosion occured up front sending a huge wave of wind sending them skidding backwards. Lifting the little petals which then spiralled in a certain motion. Heading backwards towards the explosion forming a medium sized circle like portal.

Screech!! Multiple screech sounds erupted from the hole with the emersion of dozens of black ants.

Shit. Kyle grunted seeing the ants charging straight at them. Turning he attempted to head back but the passage was blocked by a wall. Suddenly appearing out of nowhere.

I hate this place. He cursed now trapped between a tough battle. Gritting his teeth he unsheated the katana making the ants quicken their pace in response.

Stay here. He said to which kimi nodded. Shooting out he clashed with the first wave of ants. Swinging his arm furiously he instantly killed two, aiming for their neck.

Leaping up a bit he fired off a dark flame and death's call ball. The flame's exploding on a group of 3 ants upon impact. Further dividing into smaller sparks of flames dealing more damage to surrounding ants.

Screech! An ant screamed in pain under the clutch of the dark chains. Wrapping around it's body like a serpent to it's prey.

Spreading out like vines grabbing onto other marching black ants. Constricting their movements and ability to breathe.

Moving forward he blasted like a rocket utilizing the katana's buff. Sidestepping he severed four of the ant eight legs. Blocking the barrage of claws directed at him with the katana.

I really need some lessons on fighting with katana. He thought stomping his foot and landing on an ant. Plunging the katana to it's heart.

Apart from the basic weapons scroll he got from the fox people in vaanderwood. He was basically clueless on weapons and battling with them. A stark reminder of his many flaws back while on earth.

[Just go with the flow. Dueling a weapon isn't just swinging and killing, it's about finding a rhythm. Merging as one soul with the weapon itself.] Snow said making Kyle stop in his tracks.

Jeez.. And to think I was the only pervert. He joked earning a scoff from snow.

Huh, that's new. Kyle thought ducking an ant's claw landing his fist to the beast chest. Potruding out the back instantly killing it.

At first he'd thought death's call skill had levelled up like dark flames but that wasn't the case.

No orb here. A soft sigh escaped his mouth kicking the dead ant back. He was hoping to loot some beast orb from the ants but there wasn't any he found so far.

Weird.. why do I feel weaker? The buffs from the katana was essential in this fight. But for some reason he suddenly felt weaker than his normal stats.

Staring at the katana he finally noticed some of the blue petals clung to it. Shaking it off they refused to budge sticking like leeches to flesh.

[Kyle.. those petals they're feeding off the katana's energy.] His system warned in an alarmed tone.

What! Why! H-how is this even possible? He questioned. Knowing somewhat about mana it was a source of energy. Generated by the will of the universe farmed by ability user's for various tasks.

But never for once had he heard of mana being used as a parasite to feed off mana?

[Am not entirely sure about this but there's a high possibility this is wild mana.] Snow said with a hinge of excitement.

Wild mana? As in unpredictable?

[Yes and no. For centuries mana has been known as a source of energy to use. But over the years there has been rare occurrences of objects containing mana feeding off other mana objects. Now while this might seem absurd it's a possibility.]

Listening to her his expression turned sour.

If they're feeding off the katana then we're not safe. Right?

[Fortunately both your bodies can't store mana yet so you're safe.]

Sighing he heaved in relief glad to know they were exempted from the vampiric petals.

Is it just me or is the hole getting bigger. Glancing at the hole he could've sworn it had doubled in size. Within just 5 minutes after it formed.

Screech! A black ant charged at him. Steading his stance he attempted to severe the ant in two but he hit nothing more than air.

It phased through? His eyes widened in shock seeing the katana go through the ant's body. Inflicting no damage at all to the beast.

Not stopping the ant rapidly ran forward pushing itself more faster heading towards kimi. Attempting to pursue two ants blocked his path.

K-kyle! She called out stepping backwards her back arched against the wall.

Get out! He yelled a vein bulging on his forehead as he swung the katana. Quickly dismaying the two ants which was only replaced by more.

I can't get past them in time. He frowned seeing the ants numbers were incredibly high. The ant closing the gap between kimi within seconds

Looking up he could also see ants on the ceiling. Growing in numbers by the seconds like a black tide.

There's no other way. He muttered gripping the katana.

[Don't tell me you're actually going to do it for her.] Snow pouted not in agreement with Kyle. Ignoring her he took a deep breath steading his breath.

Mhm! He grunted throwing the katana forward with sheer force. His arm recoiling back with a gunshot sound going off.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

The katana cut through the air, not stopping in the slightest killing everything in it's path.

Screech! The black ant let out an omnious low pitched screech. It's gaping jaws wide open ready to devour.

Kimi duck! Kyle's voice echoed in the tunnel. Not thinking twice she immediately crouched down. Just in time before the katana found it's mark in the ant's skull.

Guess you were right snow. His lips curved up into a sly grin.

[Of course I am. Hmph!] She snorted like a grumpy little girl.

Who knew mana could be used as a blockage of skill. He grimly smiled slightly shaking his head.

When snow had brought up the idea of using the mana petals as a blockage he thought it was absurd. But luckily everything had turned out fine.

Screech! A loud screech erupted from the open portal rattling the tunnel. The ant's retreating back into the tunnel like a command.

Whilst the portal reacting by increasing in size covering half of the tunnel in mere seconds.

Boom! Without warning it exploded like a water balloon. Enveloping everything inside the tunnel.

.....

Argh! Kyle groaned sitting up straight clutching his head. Looking round his vision a bit blurry but he could tell they weren't in the cave anymore.

No.. his face went pale realization of Kimi's disappearance dawning on him. Standing up he stopped seeing a figure in front.
