Trembling At A High Altitude

Chapter 90 Special Actor

"Not welcoming me?" Anna removed her sunglasses and studied the girl carefully.

"Not at all, I know you can't bear to be without me," Li Teng chuckled.

"Get lost! My newly selected film crew had an issue, and the show was canceled. Film and Television City forced me to return to the original crew; otherwise, I wouldn't have come back here even if it killed me," Anna shot a glance at Li Teng.

"It's good that you're back, if we're going to Hell anyway, at least there's company," Li Teng continued laughing.

"Stop being such a crow!" Seeing the food and clothes Li Teng was carrying, Anna guessed something and a look of disdain appeared on her face, but she didn't spell it out.

People had arrived quite early today, and a few were already seated around the cafe table.

Gao Fei, Huang Xun, Elsa, Du Qing.

There were three empty plates on the table.

"Today's sautéed broad beans are really delicious; it's a pity someone arrived late and missed out." Huang Xun, seeing Li Teng coming over, smugly lifted a broad bean high before extravagantly popping it into his mouth right in front of Li Teng.

Li Teng ignored Huang Xun and, after leaving most of the takeout food and clothes in the cafe, returned to the coffee table with a bag of fried crispy shrimp.

"This is Little Bunny, a newcomer, and she bought this for everyone," Li Teng said as he distributed the fried crispy shrimp and introduced the girl to everyone.

Of course, only Gao Fei, Elsa, and Anna got some, while Du Qing and Huang Xun could only watch from the side.

"Thank you! Thank you!"

The three savored the crispy shrimp, repeatedly praising Little Bunny for her beauty and kind heart, calling her a good girl.

"I hope all of you seniors will take good care of me," the girl quickly made the customary polite remarks to everyone.

"No need for us, he is our ace here. With him looking after you, you won't have anything to worry about. Just listen well to him," Anna replied to the girl with a half-smile.

"Yes, we all rely on his protection!" Elsa chimed in.

"You're new, right? Lucky you to have him bring you in. They're right, you should stick with him. He is our boss, brave and wise, and immensely righteous," Gao Fei continued to pile on the praise.

"Yes, when I first arrived, I ran into some trouble, and thankfully he showed up just in time to rescue me. He indeed is a great guy," the girl, hearing such good comments about Li Teng, promptly echoed a few herself to blend better into the group.

"Even though I am excellent, it's embarrassing to be praised like this," Li Teng quickly said, trying to be modest.

"Damn! What kind of people are these?" Huang Xun couldn't stand it anymore.

"Fried crispy shrimp, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with a unique deliciousness of shrimp. Want to try?" Gao Fei offered a shrimp to Huang Xun, teasing him.

"Dare you hold it closer?" Huang Xun knew Gao Fei was taunting him.

"Even if you want it, I'm not giving it to you." Gao Fei stuffed the shrimp into his mouth and then exaggeratedly chewed in front of Huang Xun.

"Who wants it? Cough! Cough! Cough!" Smelling the deliciousness of the shrimp made Huang Xun involuntarily swallow a few times, and he accidentally swallowed a very hard bean that was still in his mouth. It got stuck in his throat, causing him to start coughing violently.

"Why hasn't Daisy arrived yet?" Elsa suddenly remembered something when she looked at the girl.

"There are only seven of us now; she should be here soon," Gao Fei responded to Elsa, also looking somewhat uneasy.

Li Teng said nothing, already sensing that something had happened to Daisy.

Now it seemed, indeed, something had happened.

The only one missing was the Black-hearted Doctor.

Bunny Girl must have been Daisy's replacement.

"Everyone has nearly arrived; please don't wander around. In a moment, a special actor will join our cast. Once he arrives, we will discuss the plot of this performance," the female director, wearing a metal mask, announced after counting the attendees at the coffee table.

"A special actor? Where is Daisy?" Elsa glanced at the Bunny Girl and asked the director.

Among the group, Elsa and Daisy had a relatively good relationship, and she was the most concerned about Daisy's situation.

"She jumped off the stone pillar; her body has already been taken back to Film and Television City," the female director replied to Elsa, her voice devoid of any emotion.

"She jumped?" Elsa's eyes widened.

"No way?" Gao Fei was also shocked.

Anna wore sunglasses, showing no discernible expression.

Li Teng didn't utter a word. The last time he was leaving, Daisy had given him roasted chicken and a raincoat, and he knew she had made her decision.

For Daisy, it was also a kind of liberation; perhaps it wasn't such a bad thing.

"How could she do this without telling me!" Elsa burst into tears.

"It's all Feng Dahai's fault!" Gao Fei clenched his teeth; he somewhat guessed why Daisy would jump.

The last performance was a nightmare for those present, except for Du Qing, who hadn't been tortured, and the newly arrived Bunny Girl.

It wasn't surprising that Daisy couldn't bear it. Not just Daisy; both Elsa and Gao Fei were left with severe psychological trauma after the shooting.

Not everyone was as strong as Li Teng and Anna.

"The young girl was quite nice, ah, damn, the ones who shouldn't die, die; the ones who should, don't," Huang Xun also felt somber.

"Are you saying I should die?" Du Qing felt something was off with Huang Xun's words.

"No, no! Brother Du, you know who I'm talking about," Huang Xun hurriedly explained.

"Okay then." Du Qing didn't say anything more.

"Don't cry, Sister Elsa." Daisy somehow appeared, placing her hand on Elsa's shoulder as she sobbed heavily.

"You... how could you..." Elsa turned around, grabbed Daisy's shoulders, and shook them vigorously.

"Daisy, you should have at least told us," Gao Fei sighed.

"I'm okay. I just wanted to see what would happen if I jumped. Once I did, it wasn't as scary as I thought. Maybe if I die here and turn into a wax figure, I'll return to the real world. I've made peace with it, don't be sad for me," Daisy comforted Elsa and then smiled at Li Teng, Anna, Gao Fei, and the others.

"Yes, Daisy is actually braver than all of us. She did what we didn't dare to do. Her attempt is a kind of release, no need for everyone to be so sad," Li Teng tried to console everyone.

"Big brother, I love hearing what you say. The happiest thing here for me has been meeting you. You brought me the only joy here, and I am very thankful to you," Daisy looked at Li Teng.

"The one who should be thankful is me. Even though we haven't known each other for long, I will always remember you," Li Teng also expressed his thanks to Daisy.

"You will always remember her roasted chicken," Huang Xun said with a face full of reluctance.

After hearing what Daisy just said, Bunny Girl looked at Li Teng again.

Everyone's high regard for him showed he truly was a good person. It seemed her luck wasn't bad; the meal she had was worthwhile.
