Trembling At A High Altitude

Chapter 758: Chapters 1078-1079: Memory

"What would you like to ride?"

Li Teng turned his head to seek the opinions of Aila and Yang Shunli.

"Whatever." Yang Shunli wore an indifferent expression.

"Let's ride the carousel," Aila said, her tone also rather cold.

Originally, she had had some fondness for the handsome Li Teng, but she hadn't expected Li Teng to say such hurtful words.

This greatly diminished her favorable impression of Li Teng, making her feel that this man was utterly unreasonable.

"I think that spacecraft isn't bad." Li Teng pointed to a spacecraft next to the carousel.

This ride was rather old; after entering the spacecraft, there was a large screen. Tourists were strapped into seats, and then various intense flying scenes played on the screen. The spacecraft would also start shaking, forcibly giving the tourists a sense of presence.

Li Teng chose this attraction because it could just accommodate three people at a time. There were exactly three of them, and they would not have to be with other tourists, which felt relatively safer.

Of course, that was just a feeling.

"I don't want to ride that; I want to ride the carousel," Aila insisted. Her son had loved riding carousels the most when he was younger, and she had many fond memories of the three of them riding the carousel together in a day.

"Alright, then let's ride the carousel. I've observed that these tourists are lining up to enter the attractions; we should probably line up too," Li Teng did not insist on his choice, instead, he walked over and stood behind the tourists lining up at the perimeter of the carousel.

Aila and Yang Shunli followed Li Teng and stood at the end of the queue.

After a while, the spinning carousel came to a stop, and the tourists in front of them instantly disappeared, appearing on the carousel.

Thus, Li Teng and his group also inserted their coins and entered the ride, each finding a carousel horse to sit on.

Riding on the carousel, Aila was filled with emotions.

She reminisced about the happy times she had had with her family riding the carousel in the park.

Regrettably, they were now worlds apart.

She wondered if she would have the chance to return to them alive.

Soon, the carousel started up.

As the carousel moved up and down, more memories flooded into Aila's mind.

These memories also caused her senses to suddenly feel bewildered at one moment.

When she came back to her senses, Aila suddenly realized that the ride had stopped.

But...

Li Teng and Yang Shunli had already disappeared without a trace.

The other tourists inside the carousel had also vanished.

Was she left there alone?

Could it be that she had accidentally fallen asleep? And slept for a long time?

Aila felt a surge of panic.

Looking outside the ride...

The entire amusement park was also deserted!

Even though the earlier tourists had stood still, they still talked and made various sounds, giving an eerie yet lively feeling.

Now, it suddenly became so deathly silent, Aila found it hard to adjust for a moment.

"That man is truly unreliable, having left me behind!" Aila felt even more disgusted with Li Teng.

Not knowing what had happened or where to go next, Aila felt utterly lost and very panicked.

Just then, she suddenly heard a familiar sound of crying.

It was her son's cry.

This voice, it truly tormented her.

Although it was strange that her son's crying was coming from this location, she could no longer care about figuring out what was going on.

"JOHNNY!"

Aila rushed out of the carousel, running toward the direction of the sound.

After leaving the carousel, her son JOHNNY's cry emerged again, and this time Aila could clearly discern where the sound was coming from.

It was that spaceship ride Li Teng had wanted to ride earlier!

"JOHNNY! Don't be afraid! Mommy is coming!"

Aila ran as fast as she had ever run in her life, hurdled over the barrier, and burst into the spaceship ride.

On the row of seats inside the spaceship cabin, she did not see her son JOHNNY.

The screen at the front of the spaceship cabin was lit up.

Her son JOHNNY's crying was coming from the screen.

A video was playing on the screen.

It was a scene of the family of three having fun at the amusement park.

Aila remembered this scene vividly; he was crying because the little plane he wanted to ride was under maintenance, and the staff had told them to play something else and come back another day to ride the plane.

But JOHNNY wasn't willing, so he cried a lot.

This matter was later resolved perfectly... Her beloved husband used money to expedite the maintenance, and JOHNNY got to ride the little plane, appearing very happy.

After this video, another appeared.

It was a video of the family of three visiting a flower exhibition.

Then another video of the family of three followed...

Aila didn't know why there were videos of the family of three here, but at this moment she couldn't be bothered to think about anything else. She watched these videos while wiping away her tears, completely immersed in the beautiful memories of the past.

Each video captured an essential experience in life.

"Are these videos dredging up my memories?"

Aila occasionally also had some doubts in her heart.

But she didn't delve deeper into this issue.

The videos gradually transitioned to her recent life.

One day, her husband Richard brought home a nanny, Jessica, saying that Jessica would take good care of her and JOHNNY's life.

Along with her husband and nanny Jessica, a female coworker Gemma from his company also came.

Her husband introduced, stating the nanny was Gemma's aunt and was a very honest and reliable person.

The female coworker Gemma also showed her extreme respect, diligently addressing her as sister-in-law.

The next video was somewhat eerie.

Because, in the following videos, she had no memories of these events at all.

It was about the nanny Jessica.

Jessica was at the hospital for a consultation, shockingly at the Tumor Hospital.

The doctor told Jessica that her condition had worsened, there was no point in treatment, and she had at most six months left.

The scene shifted, and Jessica appeared with a young man.

"Mom won't be able to be with you anymore, but I have arranged your future well, someone will give you a large sum of money, and send you abroad to study..."

Aila furrowed her brow; she had never known about Jessica's battle with cancer.

If she had known, she would have definitely given Jessica a large sum of money to help her receive treatment, whether it cured her or not, shouldn't one never give up easily?

Why would such a video appear?

Could it be that this video wasn't her memory?

However, this particular video didn't surprise Aila too much.

The next video, on the other hand, almost blew her mind.

In the video, it was her husband Richard and his female colleague Gemma.

Gemma walked into Richard's office and casually locked the office door behind her.

After closing the door, Richard, who was sitting on the sofa, naturally stood up, walked towards the incoming Gemma, embraced her, and kissed her before they both sat down again on the sofa.

"Darling, I have arranged everything, and if everything goes according to plan, we can be together in half a month," Gemma whispered a few words to Richard.

"Are you sure there won't be any problems on Jessica's end?" Richard asked.

"Don't worry, she would never speak of this matter due to her son, no matter the pressure she faces," Gemma assured Richard.

"That's good," Richard nodded.

"Tomorrow is my mom's birthday, have you prepared your gift?" Gemma brought up another matter with Richard.

"It's ready, this limited edition Senbin Watch is worth two hundred thousand, specially customized through a friend," Richard pulled out a transparent gift box from his desk drawer.

"That stingy? Only a two hundred thousand watch? It's my mom's birthday!" Gemma seemed somewhat dissatisfied.

"Cough, I've been a bit tight on money recently..." Richard's expression turned embarrassed.

Right then, Richard's phone rang.

"That dead person is calling, shush! No more talking," Richard gestured for silence to Gemma.

The voice on the phone was also clearly audible in the video.

It was actually Aila's voice!

"Dear, tomorrow is my cousin's wedding, I've already booked your suit, when will you be done tonight?" Aila asked on the phone.

The incident wasn't too long ago, and Aila remembered it clearly.

"Ah? Your cousin's wedding? Ah..."

"My mom's birthday!" Gemma mouthed the words on the side.

"Darling, I just happened to schedule an important client for tomorrow, I'm afraid... I won't be able to attend your cousin's wedding," Richard spoke with a tone of regret.

"Really? Dear, I told you about this a week in advance," Aila sounded quite disappointed since her cousin was very close to her, almost like a real sister. It was considered very rude if Richard didn't show up at her wedding.

How could Richard have not arranged his schedule for such an important event?

"Dear, the client tomorrow is tied to a crucial deal that is vital for the company's survival, ah... I've been so busy these days, I actually forgot about this. It's hard to reschedule with the client, if I reschedule, I might not get another appointment...

"I am working overtime this late tonight, and I will be home late, just to prepare the materials for the negotiation with this important client..." Richard explained to Aila.

While Richard was on the phone, Gemma placed her face against Richard's, listening to what Aila was saying on the other side.

Aila watching the video, of course, remembered clearly what Richard had said.

But she really didn't expect that Richard had refused to attend her cousin's wedding because of Gemma's mother's birthday? And that he even claimed it was to talk business with an important client?

Also, why did Richard call her 'dead person'?

"You have worked hard, husband, you have given so much for this family! Don't wear yourself out!" Aila spoke with deep empathy.

"For you, for our son, for the future happiness of our family, no matter how much I give, I will have no regrets!" Richard spoke tenderly.

"Husband, I love you so much!" Aila's voice was choked with emotion.

"Wife, I love you more! Darling, baby, I still have a lot of work, can't talk more now, rest early, don't wait up for me tonight," Richard pledged confidently.

"Mm, husband, you're busy, just take care of your health!" Aila hung up the phone.

"Alright, I'm all yours tonight," Richard said to Gemma after hanging up the phone.

"Shall we go to my place?" Gemma suggested.

"No, let's hold on a bit longer; it wouldn't be good if a colleague walked in on us." Richard shook his head.

"Then let's just stay here." Gemma was somewhat unhappy.

"Alright, is the door closed properly?"

"It's closed."

"Come on!"

The scene shifts.

Half an hour later.

The office was bustling and chaotic, just like a stormy weather.

Aila parked her car in the parking lot, carrying a thermal flask with freshly cooked bird's nest porridge.

Though it was late and the nanny had gone to sleep, she felt sorry for her husband Richard, so she personally cooked this bird's nest porridge and brought it to him quietly.

She hadn't told him, wanting to surprise him.

Soon, she was at the door of Richard's office.

The office door was locked from the inside and couldn't be pushed open.

Aila had no choice but to knock.

"Honey, it's me!" Aila called out as she knocked on the door.

The scene switches to inside the office.

It was a complete mess.

The stormy pair inside was startled by Aila's voice.

"Wasn't she supposed to be asleep?"

"Right! She's out, and why didn't your aunt give us a heads up?"

"What do we do? We're going to be exposed!"

"Hurry and get dressed!"

"She will definitely be suspicious..."

"Quick! We'll do this and that..." Richard quickly came up with a plan.

...

"What is this case you've written? If you don't want to work here anymore, just scram!"

"Boss, don't be like that, I've been working really hard, I'll revise the case if it's not good enough."

"Revise, revise, revise! Is there even time? We're meeting with the client tomorrow!"

The two quickly dressed while loudly talking.

Then, they threw some documents onto the floor and the sofa.

After Gemma had dressed, she quickly ran to the water dispenser, scooped up some water, and dabbed it on her eyes and cheeks.

Richard went back to his desk, set his face in a frown, and got visibly angry.

Gemma then ran to the door, pretending to cry as she opened the office door.

"Sister-in-law, please speak some good words to Richard for me? He's not satisfied with my proposal and wants to fire me. My husband's in the hospital from a car accident, and I'm the sole support for the family. If I get fired, I…I…I…" Gemma pleaded with Aila, grabbing her hand.

"Stop acting pitiful here! Do you know how bad your proposal is? With a proposal like this, how am I supposed to negotiate with the client tomorrow? I've been busy for half a month, and if the talks with this client fail tomorrow, do you know how much the company will lose?" Richard continued angrily, throwing a stack of documents forcefully onto the ground.

"Boss, time is too tight, I really worked hard! Maybe my abilities are limited, but if I could have a few more days..." Gemma collapsed to the ground crying.

"Do I have the time? Where would I find the time? Do you know how tired I am? I have to split each second in half to use! But your case could very likely ruin all of my hard work!" Richard roared.

"Honey, don't be so angry, it's not good for your health, and besides, she's not slacking off..." Aila was deceived by their act and did not suspect or question the fact that the office was locked from the inside.
