Chapter 241: A Bird Startled by the Mere Twang of a Bow (3560 Additional Chapters)
"Damn it! Who's the prey?" Number 5 saw these words on the wall and couldn't help but feel furious.
The Snowfield Hunter clearly referred to them, right? How could this switch of concept be approved by the scriptwriter?
"Bang! Bang!" Two gunshots rang out.
Two elite NPC soldiers beside Number 5 were shot in the head and fell to the ground without a sound.
Above the hall's banister, a man's figure disappeared.
Number 5 and his companions were so frightened they immediately dropped to the ground in a mess.
The Assault Rifleman and some elite NPC soldiers fired wildly at the upper part of the hall, but sadly, they hit nothing.
Number 5's heart thudded wildly.
Li Teng, having just killed the two elite soldiers beside him with two shots without choosing to blow his head off, only demonstrated one thing: this psychopathic cheater Li Teng wasn't killing them, he was toying with them!
"Stop! Everybody stop! Stop the chaos!" Number 5 shouted loudly.
Only then did the others cease firing.
"This area is already under his control, let's slowly back out," he commanded.
Number 5 ordered everyone, his voice betraying his frightened state caused by those two shots.
"Boss, he's just one person, how can he take over such a big building? We have so many people..." the Assault Rifleman objected.
"Who's calling the shots?" Number 5 raged.
"The boss knows best," the Sniper supported Number 5. As a sniper, he needed to be unseen by the enemy to feel secure. If Li Teng suddenly appeared, he wouldn't even have a chance to resist.
"The boss has the final say," the Assault Rifleman quickly backed down.
Under Number 5's command, the group switched from marching in front to falling back in formation, using the flashlights on their rifles to scan the upper areas of the hall while slowly retreating out of the building's main entrance.
"Bang!"
Another gunshot sounded.
The first NPC soldier to exit the main door was shot in the head and fell to the ground without a sound.
The gunshot was on the top of the head, obviously from a bullet fired from one of the upper windows of the building.
The rest were frozen in shock, too scared to move a step further.
It seemed the psychopathic cheater had anticipated their escape and had taken up position there in advance, shooting an NPC soldier in the head with precision.
Three shots, three headshots; his marksmanship was disgustingly accurate. What else could it be if not cheating?
"You are surrounded by me! Drop your weapons and kneel to beg for mercy, or face ruthless killing! Hahahaha..."
Li Teng's voice came from the building, broadcast through a loudspeaker; his laughter at the end carried a mocking tone.
The loudspeaker was from the outpost's supplies, which he had taken to use for psychological operations.
"Boss, we have so many people, why fear a single man? And he's just got two crappy pistols. Surrounded by one man against our dozen? Does he want to be laughed to death?" the younger Assault Rifleman, agitated by Li Teng's mocking laugh, was getting restless.
"We have thirteen soldiers now, sticking together makes us an easy target and it's not suitable to fight inside the building. Let's split into three groups; each leading four soldiers, the Sniper can take one extra, search upstairs and shoot on sight!" Number 5 also hardened his resolve.
With the situation as it was, cowering further was pointless.
They couldn't escape anyway, so were they supposed to just stand in this hall and wait for him to blow each of their heads off one by one?
"Okay!" the Assault Rifleman could no longer hold back and immediately agreed with Opinion No. 5.
The Sniper felt a bit uneasy about splitting up, but considering that moving together would indeed make a larger target and cause more noise, and it would be tough to maneuver inside the building, he ultimately did not voice any objections.
Thus, the three split into three groups, taking the stairs; one group went to search the second floor, another the third floor, and the last one the fourth floor.
"Bang!"
A gunshot rang, and the NPC soldier at the very back, although carefully backing up the stairs, was still hit by a sniper shot.
This time it wasn't a headshot, but it struck his thigh, instantly crippling him as he clutched his leg and screamed in agony.
The scream threw the whole team into chaos. Each person, like startled birds, frantically looked for cover, fear written all over their faces.
And anger at being played.
There was only one person from the opponents!
"Don't fucking cower! Follow me and charge!" the Assault Rifleman, holding his rifle, led several NPC soldiers around him out of the stairs, shining flashlights all around inside the building.
But they couldn't find where Li Teng was hiding.
"If you're so capable, come out! Come on! Fight me one-on-one! Don't hide like a coward!" the Assault Rifleman yelled at the empty air in front of him.
No one responded to him.
In the silent building, only the NPC soldier whose leg had been shot kept screaming incessantly.
"Sir, he seemed to be in that room just now." An NPC soldier pointed at a room on the second floor and reported to the Assault Rifleman.
On the dusty floor, there indeed were tracks leading to that room.
With analysis of the bullet trajectory, there was a very high likelihood that Li Teng was hiding in that room.
"Let's go!" The Assault Rifleman, along with four NPC soldiers, cautiously and swiftly headed to the door of that room.
Under the Assault Rifleman's command, an NPC soldier kicked open the broken door to the room, rifle in hand, and charged in, followed by the others in single file.
Li Teng's figure was nowhere to be seen; it appeared he had already left.
The frustrated Assault Rifleman could only lead his subordinate NPC soldiers to turn and leave.
But just as they were turning around, Li Teng, hanging upside down from a window above with a small mirror in his hand, suddenly appeared at the top of the window, and two pistols "Bang! Bang! Bang!" fired three bullets.
Each hit the thighs of three NPC soldiers.
The three NPC soldiers instantly screamed and fell to the ground, clutching their legs and completely losing their capacity to fight.
The Assault Rifleman immediately turned around, cursing while firing a barrage in the direction of the gunshots.
"He... he..." the NPC soldier stammered, pointing at the window.
"What about him?" the Assault Rifleman stopped firing.
"He has already run away." the NPC soldier answered the Assault Rifleman.
"Nonsense! Don't I already know he's run away?"
The Assault Rifleman looked at the window, tempted to either peer out himself to see where Li Teng was currently hiding or command an NPC soldier to check.
But he reckoned that as soon as anyone peeked out, there was a very high chance they'd be sniped by Li Teng on the spot, so he had to suppress the idea.
The Assault Rifleman, with his gun at the ready, slowly backed out of the room. After leaving the room, he then turned back and walked a few steps forwards, but then suddenly spun around, wanting to confirm that Li Teng hadn't reappeared behind him.
