Trembling At A High Altitude

They continued forward, and the mountain path gradually became wider.

However, the number of zombies on the path increased.

The two had no choice but to kill zombies as they advanced.

The "Scripted World" was doing everything possible to increase the difficulty of Li Teng and Liu Hui's progress.

And that was not all.

At a narrow stretch of the mountain path, they even encountered a huge Mutant Zombie!

It was three to four meters tall, skinless, its bulging muscles exposed. Upon seeing Luo Bijiao scouting ahead, the Mutant Zombie let out a roar and charged toward her. Such was its size that the ground trembled with its steps.

Luo Bijiao was scared witless.

The Mutant Zombie grabbed her head with one hand and her leg with another, violently tearing her apart before stuffing her into its mouth.

Perhaps finding her too fatty, after a couple of bites it spat her out again.

Then it turned toward the passage on this side and roared loudly.

"Damn! This must have been deployed at the last minute! If it had been here two days ago, those Sentries wouldn't have made it alive to the outpost!" Liu Hui couldn't help but curse.

"Yeah, it must have been deployed after the outpost was set up," Li Teng frowned as well.

If they were to go around the mountain cliff, it would take an extra day or even longer.

Moreover, Li Teng suspected that there would be some setups on the cliffs on the side—a couple of marksmen placed at some dangerous passes. If they were climbing the cliff face when fired upon, they would have no way to dodge.

The area near the Mutant Zombie was relatively safe though, as there was no fear of sniper fire.

Because those Sentry NPCs wouldn't dare to come close.

"How are we going to get through here?" Liu Hui looked at Li Teng.

"This is the last narrowing of the mountain path. Past this gap, we'll be on the wide-open plains. If we can lure the Mutant Zombie away for a while, letting us through this gap, we'll have no problem," Li Teng thought for a moment and then replied to Liu Hui.

"How are we going to lure it? Your bait has been eaten," Liu Hui referred to Luo Bijiao.

"We still have this. Take your gun and follow me!" Li Teng took out a signal flare.

He hadn't planned to use it here, but now there was no choice but to bring it out early.

Fortunately, they still had a good number of signal flares.

Liu Hui didn't understand the plan, but since Li Teng was so confident, she decided to follow him.

Li Teng led Liu Hui cautiously toward the area where the Mutant Zombie was. When it felt about right, he angled a signal flare toward the wide area behind the gap where the Mutant Zombie was and fired it.

The signal flare flew more than a hundred meters before exploding mid-air with a bang.

Upon hearing the explosion, the Mutant Zombie and the surrounding horde of zombies immediately rushed toward the source of the sound.

The passageway ahead was instantly cleared, leaving only a few legless zombies crawling in the snow.

Li Teng and Liu Hui quickly seized the opportunity to dash through the passageway.

Zombies have no sense of territory; once the Mutant Zombie led its group to the location of the signal flare's explosion and found no target, they began to wander aimlessly in the area.

"Never thought a signal flare could be used like this!" Liu Hui gave Li Teng a thumbs up.

Not long after Li Teng's signal flare went off, a signal flare also exploded over the camp of the Black Dragon Association in the distance.

A distant sound seemed to carry from afar.

Clearly, they had taken the signal flare to be one launched by the forward sentry, so in accordance with their prior arrangement, they conveyed this message to the military camp at Point B, where Number 5 was stationed, using another signal flare.

"They're here so soon!" Number 5 squinted his eyes.

In his hands was an extremely detailed map, obtained upon entering the Scripted World.

Obviously, the director had taken special care to provide him with this map.

The map marked all the traps that had been set for Li Teng and Liu Hui on their way from Point A to Point C and then to Point B.

In Number 5's view, it was simply impossible for normal people to successfully navigate through these traps to reach him.

Even those with extraordinary abilities couldn't come so quickly.

Unexpectedly, Li Teng and Liu Hui had just stormed their way over.

"Could it be an NPC soldier who fired by mistake?" the Assault Rifleman, not believing Li Teng and Liu Hui had arrived, suggested a possibility.

"We can't rule out the possibility of an NPC soldier firing by mistake, but that's not important. If they really can breach my camp, then I might as well jump off a cliff and kill myself," Number 5 said, clearly confident in the defenses of his military camp.

As soon as he entered the Scripted World, he used his authority to mobilize a large number of people from the Black Dragon Association to construct the camp, and he gathered most of the elite forces and top-quality weapons of the Black Dragon Association at this camp.

If Li Teng did manage to break into the camp and accidentally killed any of these NPC civilians, the penalty of deducting 10 points per casualty was harsh enough, and if Li Teng didn't have enough points in his account, just deducting these points could be fatal to him.

Li Teng's handguns had only two magazines left, a total of 20 bullets.

The shotgun also had two magazines remaining, totaling 12 shells.

As for the signal gun, there were indeed dozens of rounds left.

He had ignored those useless weapons, as carrying them would have been meaningless.

However, the camp's searchlights had been turned on before it was fully dark, lighting up the entire area surrounding the camp just like daylight, leaving no blind spots.
