Trembling At A High Altitude

Chapter 188: Go with the Flow (Extra 2288 Chapters)

The female manager was very displeased, but under the current circumstances, she had no choice but to lie down on the bed fully clothed.

Because of their fear of ghosts, the lights in the room were not turned off.

After the women had gone to bed, the men took seats on the chairs in the room.

The general manager, feeling overwhelmed, took out the pack of cigarettes and lighter he had found on the bus, and both he and the salesman lit up a cigarette and started smoking.

"Put out those cigarettes now!" the female manager, smelling the smoke, immediately got up and charged over to the two men.

"We won't put them out, what are you going to do about it?" the general manager exhaled a puff of smoke into the female manager's face.

The female manager snapped out her hand with lightning speed, snatching the cigarettes from their hands, and then forcefully crushed them under her foot.

"Are you freaking out of your mind?" the salesman exclaimed angrily.

"Stop arguing, it's you who are in the wrong for smoking in the room in the first place," the accountant rose to support the female manager.

"Yeah, I also hate the smell of smoke, and it's harmful to health." This time the secretary also stood by the female manager.

"Alright, it's our fault, I apologize; let's not argue with them," the general manager surprisingly changed his attitude, taking the initiative to admit his mistake and calm the situation.

The salesman gave the general manager a strange look, but since the general manager had backed down, he didn't say anything more.

The female manager opened the window, took a good long breath of fresh air by it, and then closed the window before lying back down.

When she lay down, she still gave the general manager and the salesman a fierce glare.

...

The night grew deeper and deeper.

The exhausted women, one by one, fell into slumber after they had laid down.

The men seated in the chairs were also listless and sleepy-eyed.

Li Teng was also dozing off, but he struggled to keep himself awake.

He had stayed out of the previous disputes, as an aged and weak old man, he did not want to quarrel with anyone or take sides—he only cared about survival.

After seeing the women asleep, the general manager whispered to the salesman by the door.

"The script is actually quite simple; there will always be someone who dies, but those who form a group will never die, only the isolated ones will," the general manager murmured softly.

"Yes," the salesman agreed with this perspective.

"Are you interested in forming an alliance with me?" the general manager proposed to the salesman.

"An alliance? Sure," the salesman nodded.

"Do you want that despicable and stupid woman to die?" the general manager leaned in closer to the salesman's ear.

"She... indeed deserves to die," hesitated the salesman, moving closer to whisper back to the general manager.

"The rule says only one person dies each night, and if just one person dies, then Ghost Film will leave, this night is still very long. If she dies, we'll be safe, and we can sleep alone without any further danger. What we need to do now is very simple; just don't wake her up, and convince everyone else to leave this room…" the general manager whispered again into the salesman's ear.

"Indeed, it's a good idea; such a woman is only harmful when kept around," the salesman agreed with the general manager's suggestion.

After discussing their plan, they went their separate ways to persuade Li Teng and the driver by whispering to them.

The driver hesitated under the general manager's persuasion but indicated he would follow the opinion of the majority.

Li Teng said he was old and hard of hearing, unable to understand whispers, and the salesperson didn't dare to speak up, so they gave up.

After the salesperson and the general manager reconvened and discussed, they believed that by persuading one or two more people, they could sway the driver. As for that old man, he never dared to speak up and always just went wherever there were more people; they weren't worried that he wouldn't follow them out when the time came.

So, while making a hushing gesture, the general manager woke up the secretary and whispered to her that the four men had reached a consensus: to leave the female manager alone in the room and hoped she would comply with the majority's decision to leave with them.

The secretary, worried about being left behind, quickly agreed to follow him.

With this method, the general manager also convinced the female supervisor.

Finally, he woke up the female accountant and proceeded to persuade and intimidate her.

Either she could leave safely with them or continue to follow the female manager and become part of the rejected minority.

The female accountant didn't have a particularly strong relationship with the female manager; she had previously only tried to prevent an argument among the group. Hearing the general manager and seeing that the female secretary and supervisor were already preparing to leave, she worried about being isolated and quickly agreed to the general manager's request.

Since the female secretary, supervisor, and accountant had been persuaded, the general manager became the overwhelming majority. The driver did not dare to offend most people and indeed had some resentment towards the female manager's prior behavior, so he silently followed the steps of the others leaving.

Uncle Li also did not come as a surprise to the general manager; seeing them leaving the room en masse, he hurriedly got up from his chair to join them.

When leaving, the general manager even quietly turned off the light in the room.

The group returned to the yard outside.

The general manager and the salesperson walked over to the window of the room, and with the help of the moonlight streaming in, they looked at the still soundly sleeping female manager, oblivious to her solitude.

Sure enough, a ghost appeared in the room.

Like the ghosts commonly seen in movies, it had disheveled hair and was clad in a flowing white garment.

It went to the bedside of the female manager and extended its Ghost Claw towards her face.

The female manager awoke, and by the moonlight coming through the window, saw the ghost with a sallow face and blood dripping from the corners of its eyes, nose, and mouth. Scared out of her wits, she let out a piercing scream.

The ghost's two Ghost Claws violently grabbed at her body. Amidst the female manager's harrowing screams for help, the ghost tore her body into pieces bit by bit.

The screaming lasted a full half-minute before it stopped.

Then, the ghost floated away.

The wall next to the bed where the female manager lay was stained blood red.

The general manager and the salesperson watching the gruesome scene from the window were somewhat petrified.

Watching Ghost Films on television can never compare to the terror of experiencing such a real-life Ghost Film!

Against the supernatural existence of ghosts, ordinary humans have no power to resist. Even if not asleep, being awake would only lead to the same brutal end.

In the yard, the female secretary, supervisor, and accountant huddled together timidly. Although they had not witnessed everything that happened in the room, the mere sound of those screams allowed them to imagine the brutality of the scene.

In their eyes, although the female manager was irrational, temperamental, and unreasonable, she didn't deserve to die.

But... in times like this, it's better to go with the flow. If they were to stand up for the female manager and anger the majority represented by the general manager, becoming the next target to be abandoned or attacked would not be worth it.
