Trembling At A High Altitude

Chapter 187: Unrelenting (2258 Extra)

"The driver is spot on, all those horror movies I watched before, when something went wrong, it indeed all started from a bunch of bastards arguing," the male salesman agreed with the driver's statement.

"Who are you calling bastards? Are you f***ing blind? Was it me who wanted to fight with him? It was clearly him who cursed at me first! You call me bastard, you're the bastard! Your whole family are bastards!" The female manager already felt very aggrieved, and the male salesman's comment made her explode with anger.

"Ai, can you even listen to people? I was talking about the bastards in those horror movies I watched, did I say you? The general manager is right, you really are brainless! You can't even understand normal speech!" the male salesman got angry too.

"Can we all just stop arguing? The ghost is right beside us watching! Do we really have to wait until something bad happens, until someone gets hurt, before we stop? Please! We all know it's a trap, so don't jump into it willingly!" the driver said with a helpless expression.

Many experiments have been conducted in the scientific community, putting all sorts of people together; whether students or working adults, conflicts inevitably arise after a certain period of time, and this was no exception.

During the afternoon, everyone was peaceful and friendly, but by night, arguments suddenly started, and then disputes erupted.

It's not just about the few words exchanged just now.

When the general manager and the manager were playing mahjong, the general manager had repeatedly accused the manager of playing the wrong cards, messing up his good hands. Although not explicitly stated, his words suggested that the manager was brainless.

The manager had been harboring some dissatisfaction in her heart for a while.

Of course, there was an even deeper reason.

These extras at the bottom of Film and Television City hierarchy, ordered around daily and seeing no hope for the future, were already filled with grievances and discontent with no outlet for release.

All these reasons accumulated, and at that moment, both parties erupted over the issue of whether to sleep in separate rooms or not.

"I'm willing to stop arguing, but those two owe me an apology! Otherwise, today's matter is not over!" the female manager calmed down a bit after hearing the driver's words and, face cold, she put forth her condition.

"Do you have princess syndrome or what? Who should pamper you? Apologize to your ghost! You are brainless! I'm saying it! You are brainless! People like you shouldn't even be alive—it's unjust!" the general manager had completely lost it. He stood up and pointed at the female manager's forehead, cursing loudly.

"I didn't even mean her when I called someone a bastard, I don't know why she took it personally. Honestly, people like her just baffle me," the male salesman said with a look of displeasure.

"You take advantage of being men to bully others, right?" The female manager felt she had made a concession, yet the other side was relentless and insulting her even more, which made her emotions collapse and she burst into tears.

"Stop cursing, you two, would you? As men, do you really have to fight with a woman to win or lose? Being so petty doesn't shame you?" the accountant tried to mediate.

"It depends on the person! Someone like her deserves to be cursed out! Not just cursed, but beaten! If we weren't here, I would've slapped her already!" the general manager grew even more agitated after being calmed by the accountant.

The female manager, crying, heard the general manager's words, suddenly stood up, and furiously scattered all the mahjong tiles on the table to the floor.

"I'm warning you! You're getting too out of line!" the general manager was sitting opposite her. The tiles she scattered hit him, and he quickly stood up and stepped back.

The female manager glared at the general manager with a dark face and, with a forceful push, also flipped over the mahjong table in front of her.

The general manager was startled and quickly stepped back again, narrowly avoiding his toes being smashed.

"You all saw that! It was that bitch who attacked me first!" the general manager said to everyone around him.

"So what if I attacked you? Are you angry? I hope you're pissed to death!" the female manager fired back immediately at the general manager.

"You bitch, is it never-ending with you? Do you really think I won't hit you?" the general manager, furious, rushed in front of the female manager and raised his hand high.

"Hit me then! Hit here! If you don't, you're the bastard!" The female manager defiantly lifted her face.

"Don't be impulsive..." the others quickly pulled the general manager back.

"Bastard!" the female manager continued to curse.

"Damn it! What kind of trash did we run into?" the general manager kicked the fallen mahjong table next to him several times in frustration.

"You're the trash! Your whole family is trash!" the female manager shot back without showing any weakness.

The driver shook his head non-stop, watching this scene.

Before, when watching horror movies, he thought the directors and screenwriters were brainless. How could the characters argue and bicker so pettily in such dangerous situations, knowing full well there was a ghost, which then led to disaster.

Now, seeing it with his own eyes, even such a trivial matter as a disagreement during discussion had escalated to this extent. If it wasn't for the rules, these two might have already started fighting each other.

Even though he kept reminding them, it was still to no avail.

Everyone was only standing from their own perspective, never considering the feelings of others.

Everything wrong was always the other person's fault. They were always the victims, anyway.

In such a situation, trouble at night had become inevitable.

However, although the general manager and the female manager were arguing fiercely, both of them seemed to be not foolish.

None of them, out of anger, left the others to go somewhere by themselves or locked themselves alone in a room.

Despite the argument, they all still stayed in the yard together with everyone else.

Then, with everyone's persuasion, the situation gradually calmed down.

As for the problem of how to sleep, the final decision was made by everyone voting together, with the minority submitting to the majority.

The general manager's opinion ultimately won against the female manager's with a six-to-two vote.

Only the female manager and the accountant voted for the female manager's opinion; the rest supported the general manager's.

It's a simple truth: in horror movies, the higher the number of people together, the safer they are. Splitting into two groups would surely double the risk.

"Hmph! If anyone doesn't agree, they can find their own place to sleep alone, no one is stopping you!" the general manager was quite satisfied with the voting result.

"I keep my mouth shut, and you still want to stir up trouble, right?" the female manager flared up again.

"Did I mention you? You mean to say you're the idiot?" the general manager continued to curse.

The others quickly stepped in to separate them again.

Although the female manager opposed the general manager's opinion, after most people decided to stay in the same room, she wasn't foolish enough to be alone with the accountant in a separate room. Despite her reluctance, she still silently supported the majority's choice.

After going to the toilet together, the four women went to sleep first, and the four men kept watch.

They would switch at around three or four in the morning.
