Trembling At A High Altitude

Chapter 108: The Giant Blanket

The seven actors sitting in the hall all started to look a bit anxious.

Only Li Teng continued to eat heartily.

The director had asked everyone to stop what they were doing, not to stop eating.

"Hey, I'm talking to you!" Anna nudged Li Teng.

Li Teng looked up and sure enough, the director was staring at him.

Because the director was looking at him, it caused everyone else to look over at him too.

He had no choice but to stop.

"His hearing isn't very good, and he's a bit slow," Anna quickly explained on behalf of Li Teng, so as not to offend the director.

Li Teng rolled his eyes.

That was a stretch.

"Please follow the staff into the rooms at the rear of the plane, one room per person. Then, with the help of the staff, carry out the preparatory work before the performance," the director announced a few more instructions to everyone.

Eight staff members came over, and each led an actor into the small rooms along the corridor.

After Li Teng entered the room with one of the staff members, they opened several boxes in the room, took out something resembling clothes, and helped Li Teng put them on.

These clothes weren't easy to wear, and it took the staff member more than ten minutes to get Li Teng fully suited up.

Then, the staff member helped Li Teng put on goggles and an oxygen mask and strapped an oxygen tank to his back.

"Wingsuit Flying?" Li Teng looked at the suit on his body, somewhat dumbfounded.

He had never taken on such an extreme sport.

It looked like today's performance involved jumping from ten thousand meters in the air wearing a wingsuit?

In the real world, this was a game for the wealthy, beyond the means of ordinary people, who also didn't have the courage to attempt it.

The staff member didn't respond to Li Teng.

"Right, where's the parachute?" Li Teng may not have tried wingsuit flying before, but he knew that it involved wearing a parachute, which had to be deployed at a certain altitude for a safe landing.

Even though he had never tried wingsuit flying or skydiving, he knew that to survive, he needed to quickly familiarize himself with this gear and understand how to use it.

"There is no parachute," the staff member finally spoke up.

"No parachute? Then how are we supposed to reach the ground? Just smash into it?" Li Teng's eyes widened.

The staff member fell silent again.

"Sister, we can't be playing like this, can we? You're sending us to our death! Jumping from ten thousand meters without a parachute? You're treating our lives as if they're worthless!" Li Teng protested, although he knew it was futile.

The staff member remained silent.

"Sister, I know you have a kind heart. You wouldn't want a handsome guy like me to just crash and die. If you know where I can get a parachute, could you please get one for me?" Li Teng pleaded with the staff member, clinging to a sliver of hope.

The staff member ignored Li Teng.

Li Teng was completely desperate now.

Someone who had never tried wingsuit flying looked like they were going to be pushed from ten thousand meters up.

If you're going to push me, at least give me a parachute. I could study how to play and how to land safely while flying down.

But… there was no parachute.

To crash directly to the ground!

Last time there was a plane crash, at least he was seated in the remnants of the tail section of the aircraft.

The tail happened to roll correctly down the mountain top and into the lake.

That was why Li Teng had survived.

This time, it would be a direct bodily crash to the ground.

What techniques could be used to avoid death?

Li Teng, who had never tried wingsuit flying, was completely clueless at this point.

He wondered if Anna had any experience?

Li Teng wanted to open the door and go find Anna. If she had experience, he could ask for her advice.

But the staff member stopped him, warning him that he couldn't wander around now.

The hallway outside was full of security guards, and if Li Teng dared to defy the instructions of the staff now, there was only one outcome, and that was to have his performance qualification revoked and be directly axed.

So, he might as well accept his fate.

Li Teng didn't know if he would get a chance to talk to Anna when they all gathered to jump later, even a simple piece of advice or hint for this novice at wingsuit flying would be good.

Soon, Li Teng was completely desperate.

The actors did not gather together and exit the room anymore.

There was another door on the other side of the room where Li Teng was.

When the time came, two security guards with oxygen masks walked in, and the staff member took a small can of oxygen and clipped it to his waist, putting the oxygen tube in his mouth. She waited for the room to decompress completely and then opened the cabin door on the wall, letting Li Teng jump down from that door.

Wind gushed in from the outside of the cabin door.

"Jump from here? Could I be burned to death by the engines?" Li Teng looked outside, quickly retreated back into the room, removed his oxygen mask, and turned to ask the staff member.

The staff member's face was full of disdain.

He was certain to die from the fall, yet he worried about being burned to death.

"You really have no sympathy! A vicious woman!" Li Teng was very dissatisfied with the staff member's attitude.

Of course, he only grumbled to himself.

"It's time for you to go down!" The two security guards came over, one of them removing his oxygen mask, and urged Li Teng fiercely.

With no other choice, Li Teng had to put the oxygen mask back on and went to the door.

His hands clung tightly to the cabin door as he looked down.

Below was an endless expanse of white clouds.

It looked like a huge blanket stretching across the entire sky, beautiful, like a paradise in the human world.

But Li Teng knew it was hell.

Although the white blanket looked thick, it couldn't catch a falling person; it was just bunches of water vapor.

The thought of jumping from ten thousand meters high without even a parachute made Li Teng's legs tremble.

Although he had been atop the pillar for so long and had already overcome his fear of heights, but...

Seeing Li Teng's reluctance to let go, the two security guards approached, one of them forcefully prying one of Li Teng's hands away, then together they threw him out of the cabin.

The sensation of being thrown out rather than jumping was very unpleasant.

Li Teng screamed loudly into his oxygen mask as he fell, experiencing total weightlessness, just like in those dream scenarios.

Unfortunately, this was no dream, but a real fall.

Tumbling aimlessly, disoriented.

After falling for a while, Li Teng came to his senses, quickly adjusted his posture, spread his arms and legs, and stopped the disorienting tumbling.

"If I had a parachute, I would consider this a treat, an experience of flying."

"Damn it, wingsuit flying without a parachute is just a journey of death!"

Li Teng was feeling very sad.

After he gradually mastered his balance and flew steadily for a distance, Li Teng looked around and down.

Several kilometers away, perhaps even farther, there were three small dots against the white blanket of clouds, quite noticeable, probably also actors.

The two higher dots were flying, but the lowest one seemed to be in free fall.

Maybe they were too scared and fainted.

The other four people were probably still above Li Teng.

If they didn't jump at the same time, due to the plane's flight, the distance between them might be several kilometers or even further.

Li Teng tried looking upward, but the sight of the sun caused him to become dizzy and unsteady, so he quickly lowered his head again.

"The only chance of survival would be to land in water, right?"

"From such a high altitude, is there any difference between hitting the water surface and crashing onto the ground?"

"What is the descending speed?"

"How much is the impact force?"

"I've never tried this! I have no understanding of this sport at all!"
