Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 171 Treasure Allocation and Adaptation_2

The metal surface still carried some warmth, unlike the coldness of true metal.

Jason channeled his faint white Magic Power, and it surged onto the metal surface.

As the Magic Power flowed in, the box didn't repel it as it had with Chadite and the others; instead, it grew quiet.

Is it... savoring it?

For some reason, Alka had this distinct feeling.

"Its ability isn't great, but it's quite picky," Alka couldn't help but complain from the side.

Everyone looked at Alka curiously, not understanding what he meant.

Alka briefly explained.

Soon after, the metal box reacted. Seeing this, a smile appeared on Jason's face.

Patterns emerged on the originally Mirror Surface-like smooth metal, emitting a lava-like red glow that spread across it.

It seems to be forming some kind of design.

The Magic Power also began to feed back into Jason's body.

Jason closed his eyes, his skin emitting a faint orange-red glow, as if flames were igniting upon him.

Seeing this, the others, being somewhat experienced, subtly stepped back so as not to disturb him.

Noticing their actions, Juanlu also hurriedly retreated a few paces.

I feel like I've used up a lifetime's worth of shock on this ship.

After a short while, Jason opened his eyes. He now understood the abilities of the metal box, the Treasure before him.

However, Jason's expression was no longer joyful; instead, his face seemed a bit stiff.

He doesn't look like he can celebrate.

This expression struck the others as strange; it wasn't quite what they expected him to show.

Given Jason's usual disposition, he should have been all smiles.

Seeing this, Alka asked, "What's wrong, Jason? Is there a problem with the Treasure?"

Hearing Alka's question, Jason's expression turned somewhat peculiar. He seemed unsure how to explain, only able to pat the metal box at his feet.

"How should I put this...?" Jason mused, then said, "You all should take a look for yourselves."

As he finished speaking, the originally seamless, mirror-like metal, which appeared to be a single piece, cracked open a seam down the middle.

The seam circled around, splitting the entire metal object in two. The top section, which seemed to be the lid, slowly floated upward.

Its true form inside was revealed.

So, it really is a box.

Furthermore, as the box opened, the space inside and outside it distorted, twisting and changing.

It took quite a while for this distortion to fully resolve and the strange phenomena to disappear.

Regarding this unusual phenomenon, Jason explained, "This box can seal time internally, stopping the flow of time within. So, when it's opened, the effect varies depending on how long it was closed, because it needs to harmonize the internal time with the external time."

He added, "And there's something inside this box."

Hearing this, everyone couldn't help but look inside. The earlier spatial distortion had made it difficult to see clearly.

Now, everything was crystal clear.

Inside the box was an egg-like object.

The egg's overall color was a gradient of intertwined red and blue, blending together and looking quite striking. Its surface appeared extremely smooth, with visible patterns resembling a hexagonal composition.

It looked more like a metallic art piece, its exterior polished to a Mirror Surface smoothness.

Jason walked over, crouched down, reached into the box, and gently lifted the egg out.

The egg lightly adhered to him, then began to float gently.

"Is this egg part of the box, or..." Alka asked from the side. He might have already guessed the reason for Jason's peculiar expression.

Hearing Alka's question, Jason looked up and shook his head helplessly.

"No. Instead, this box was made for this egg. While the box is a Treasure, its only function is to suspend time within itself."

Upon hearing this, everyone fell slightly silent.

"It just suspends time within the box? It doesn't grant you any abilities?" Chadite couldn't help but ask from the side.

If that's the case, this box can only be classified as a powerful Magic Item, hardly reaching the level of a Treasure. Yet, its ability is indeed remarkable, as it can halt the passage of time—even if only within the box. But the box isn't even large enough to fit a person!

Hearing Chadite's question, Jason nodded gravely.

"Really, it only has this single ability."

This means the box truly was crafted just for this egg.

"But logically, that doesn't make sense," Alka voiced his doubt. "It shouldn't open just from anyone inputting Magic Power. Shouldn't it require a specific key or something similar? After all, the box previously acted like a Treasure, repelling some people and accepting others. Though it rejected Pororo, it easily accepted Jason's Magic Power and let him control it. If it was meant to protect the egg inside, that was far too easy. It doesn't seem like it served a protective role at all."

Everyone looked at Jason, waiting for his answer.

However, Magic Power was surging within Jason; his Magic Power level was rapidly increasing.

In just a short while, it reached Three Spirals.

They could feel a Magic Power vacuum forming around him.
