Chapter 3: Ghost Gate (Part 2)
A bit strong.
The other party seemed to be guarding this place. When Su Ziyu opened his Spiritual Vision and saw Ghost Capital, she also appeared in his line of sight.
"Lord Yama forbids mortals from entering the Ghost Capital!" The eerie woman in front drew her sword and pointed it at Su Ziyu, saying sternly, "Leave now! Or die!"
Yama?
Some useful information was gained.
Su Ziyu frowned slightly as he glanced at her. He held no intention to act hastily, not because of the eerie woman herself, but because of the Lord Yama she mentioned.
In a world he still didn't understand, he didn't want to provoke obviously formidable beings.
It seemed that Aoandon had a significant status in Ghost Capital.
"I'm just passing by here." Su Ziyu smiled and turned away from Rashomon.
As the power of Spiritual Vision faded, everything he saw gradually disappeared.
The eerie woman was gone, and everything within Ghost Capital was gradually concealed, leaving behind nothing but a collapsed city gate.
A hurried sound of footsteps approached.
"Already here so quickly?" Su Ziyu draped on the Invisibility Cloak and swiftly vanished from the spot.
Half a minute later.
Three men dressed as Yin Yang Masters appeared, accompanied by a pretty-looking witch. They quickly checked the injury of the Yin Yang Master lying on the ground, then sighed with relief, "No problem. Rong Sheng is just unconscious."
"Yoshihiko."
"You take him back. I'll search for traces of the enemy."
Among the arrivals seemed to be a pair of brothers, both handsome and apparently quite capable, summoning several Shikigami with a wave of their hands.
These two seemed to be the sons of Abe no Seimei.
The witch beside them wasn't very clear-cut, but seemed strong as well.
Su Ziyu watched from the shadows for a moment before leaving. It wasn't yet the right time to meet with Yin Yang Masters. He was waiting for a suitable opportunity to meet Abe no Seimei, reputedly the most powerful Yin Yang Master of this era.
Recently, it seemed Abe no Seimei had been staying at the Imperial Palace, valued highly by the Fusang Imperial Family.
Feeling idle.
Su Ziyu went to the north of Kyoto, where the aristocrats lived. Originally, he intended to experience the Fusang Peace Era and admire the beauties of this era. However, upon seeing a group of people with their teeth painted jet black, he immediately lost interest.
He almost forgot that the aristocrats of this era in Fusang had the custom of blackened teeth, with some women even shaving their eyebrows completely.
Su Ziyu couldn't quite appreciate it and left after a brief stroll.
However, observing the customs of Kyoto wasn't too bad. It seemed Fusang people loved cherry blossoms. Along the way, Su Ziyu saw many cherry blossom trees and vaguely smelled a hint of demonic energy.
Presumably, it was demonic energy.
Su Ziyu wasn't adept at distinguishing such things, but demon hunters, ghosts, and monsters all had a distinctive scent. The scent on demon hunters was unique, probably stronger than these demons. If Van Helsing came to this world, he might be mistaken for a human-shaped Great Demon.
The number of demons in this era was truly abundant.
Kyoto was a place where humans and demons coexisted, yet during the day everything seemed relatively normal.
Some merchants had arrived at the hotel.
Su Ziyu had a simple meal and prepared to act once it was dark.
During the day.
The demons appeared to be hiding. The Clover Emblem reacted several times, but Su Ziyu couldn't find the target.
Nightfall.
As darkness slowly descended, the number of people on the streets greatly decreased.
Every household was tightly locked, the entire street was empty, and the inns were closed early. Not even a patrol was visible, and the silence around was excessively serene.
"Something's off!"
Su Ziyu frowned and looked around. He felt as if he had returned to Ghost Capital, yet he could faintly hear voices and see distant lights.
It was as if Kyoto and Ghost Capital overlapped once nightfall came.
—"Spiritual Vision!"
Su Ziyu's visual field showed an overlapping phenomenon, seeing Ghost Capital in Spiritual Vision, and Kyoto in normal vision, with ghostly flames gradually emerging. It seemed numerous little ghosts were running rampant within Ghost Capital.
An invisible spatial barrier separated Kyoto and Ghost Capital, yet it seemed fragile, as if a gentle touch could break through.
He walked leisurely along the street.
Just as Su Ziyu was planning to look elsewhere, a clear female voice suddenly reached his ear.
"Lord Su."
"We meet again!" Aoandon, wearing a light green kimono, stood smiling not far away, lazily leaning near a faintly burning blue lantern.
Tonight, there were two maids behind her, also dressed in kimonos. One wore clothes embroidered with birds and flowers, and the other with cherry blossoms, both with eerie ghost masks and a humble expression. Their long black hair hung down to their waists, their expressions were extremely reverent, their arms falling crossed over their abdomens, and their sharp black nails retracted slightly.
"The night is quite lovely." Su Ziyu forced a smile.
Encountering Aoandon again.
He had clearly flicked off the ghost flame she planted on him, yet he never expected Aoandon to still find him.
Had this Great Demon set her sights on him?
"Hmm. Tonight's moon is indeed beautiful." Aoandon looked up at the blood-red crescent moon in the sky, saying with an ethereal and cheerful tone, "Since we parted last night, I have missed Lord Su dearly."
"So tonight I couldn't help but come to invite Lord Su for an outing."
"Would Lord Su honor me?"
Having said that, Aoandon looked at Su Ziyu, the green flames flickering in her emerald eyes.
Could he really decline like this?
Su Ziyu thought for a moment with a frown, then asked, "Where to?"
Considering there was plenty of time left in this world, there was no rush to complete tasks, he could take this opportunity to understand the demonic situation in this world.
"There's a wonderful hot spring near Danbo Mountain." Aoandon, like a fairy, floated down gracefully, a swarm of moth-like flames emanating from her sleeves. She smiled charmingly at Su Ziyu and said, "Why not have Lord Su join me for some fun tonight?"
Danbo Mountain?
Su Ziyu frowned upon hearing this. He'd heard about this place during the day, supposedly home to a Great Demon named Jiutun Tongzi.
Interesting.
What exactly did Aoandon plan?
"Sure." Su Ziyu suddenly smiled.
Since he must visit this place, and given the beautiful night and the inviting company, why not go see for himself.
Jiutun Tongzi.
A renowned demon in Fusang legend during the Heian Period, leader of the Ghost Race, said to be a demon with the appearance of a handsome youth. It was rumored he would lure maidens, and once in his grasp, would devour their flesh and drink their blood.
Known as Jiutun Tongzi for his love of alcohol.
"Please." Aoandon, upon Su Ziyu's agreement, grinned, making a gesture of invitation.
A ghostly carriage, surrounded by ghostly flames, rushed forward.
Aoandon lightly touched down and sat inside, looking towards Su Ziyu with a faint smile. The ghostly flames flickered unpredictably, and in front of the carriage was a paper horse ablaze with ghostly blue flames.
Su Ziyu got on the carriage, a chill making his muscles tense slightly.
The carriage raced along the streets through Ghost Capital, exposing numerous demons and spirits along the way. Some were little ghosts in straw raincoats, some were shadows lurking within walls, and others were single-eyed demons drifting in the mist. They all steered clear of Aoandon's carriage, seemingly very afraid of this Great Demon.
