Traveler of the River of Time and Space

Chapter 20: A Deeper Bargain

If he hadn't encountered this Sun Knight, Su Ziyu originally planned to explore Lothric Royal City a bit.

But now he is quite injured, and there are corpses all around the Lorric City Wall, which might be even more dangerous inside. So Su Ziyu can only choose to retreat temporarily and wait for his injuries to fully recover before proceeding.

Just being near the Lorric City Wall, Su Ziyu saw the corpses of two Giant Dragons and a large number of Warrior carcasses. Not too far off were also many fully armed Knights decapitated. Just his intuition warned him of the slight danger of this place, making it unnecessary to rush into such risky ventures.

——"Twisted Soul of Bordeaux from the Cold Valley (refinable): A soul twisted and bestialized by Pontiff Shalivan. Refinement grants 1100 Energy Value."

——"A large mixed soul (refinable): A large amount of souls absorbed by the Undead. Refinement grants 850 Energy Value."

Close to another two thousand Energy Value.

Su Ziyu thought that if he could clear some of the BOSS-level creatures in this world, he could drink the Jade Dew brewed from the Demon Gourd directly in full, perhaps even store a considerable amount of extra Energy Value.

This world is already on the brink of destruction.

In a way, everything he's obtaining is the legacy left behind from the world gradually collapsing. If he doesn't take it, those Undead Ashes will.

The Space-Time Monitor System's Skill Tree expanded a bit further, primarily in enhancing the Thunder Spear abilities.

——"Thunder Spear (Spiritual Energy): Consumes a small amount of Energy Value to gather a tangible Thunder Spear that deals certain physical damage and Thunder Strike damage to the target, can be attached to Thunder Attribute weapons, with additional damage against dragon-type creatures. Enhanced."

——"Sunlight Spear (Spiritual Energy) [Legendary][Divine Bonus]: Consumes large amounts of Energy Value to gather a powerful Sunlight Spear that deals minimal physical damage and massive Thunder Strike damage to the target, can be attached to Thunder Attribute weapons, with additional damage against dragon-type creatures. Enhancement consumes 30 points of Source Power Value. Pre-requisite mastery of Thunder Spear." [Note: This ability receives additional bonuses from Divinity Value.]

This is the freshly expanded Spiritual Lightning Skill Tree.

The enhancement for the Thunder Spear only consumed 10 points of Source Power Value, but the Sunlight Spear expansion required a full 30 points of Source Power Value.

Su Ziyu's stored Source Power Value suddenly wasn't enough.

But the power of this move was quite astonishing!

The true Sunlight Spear was the Thunder Spear he had just cast under the Lightning Overload state, potentially even stronger than it was then. After all, this was a tactic used by the Divine Race to deal with the Immortal Ancient Dragons.

The Sun Knight with such abnormal Life Force was also struck into a dying state by merely one of his moves.

That's even considering the opponent's remarkable Thunder Resistance.

It's uncertain whether the Sunlight Spear would benefit from the Lightning Overload state; if so, its power would become quite terrifying!

The legendary Sun King- Gwyn once felled an Immortal Ancient Dragon with a single strike!

Su Ziyu temporarily returned to the Undead Settlement.

But upon arriving at the Giant's tower, he was slightly dumbfounded as the Onion Knight's figure was nowhere to be seen.

"He left?" Su Ziyu expressed slight bewilderment.

"He must have left." Nun Fried closed her eyes to sense for a moment then softly said, "The bonfire here has been moved by someone."

"He is Undead."

"He must have his own mission upon arriving here."

"Should we search the area for him?"

Su Ziyu shook his head slightly in regret and softly said, "Forget it."

"He's heading to the City of Sin."

"Perhaps we'll meet again someday."

The most important task for Su Ziyu at the moment is to recover from his injuries. The Onion Knight left, so there's no need to deliberately seek him out.

By the bonfire below the tower.

Su Ziyu watched curiously as Nun Fried ignited the bonfire using a pile of bones then placed a ceremonial Spiral Sword into it, the bonfire immediately emitted a peculiar power.

"Can you set up these bonfires anywhere?" Su Ziyu curiously asked.

Nun Fried shook her head gently and said, "No."

"There was once a bonfire kindled here by the Undead. I'm merely reigniting it."

Su Ziyu extended his hand to touch the flame, inquiring, "What is it burning?"

The flame continued to blaze.

Yet Nun Fried added no firewood. She gazed intently at the bonfire before her, glanced at Su Ziyu, and spoke slowly, "Souls."

"Only souls can kindle true flames!"

Su Ziyu fell into a brief silence upon hearing this.

The souls in this world are truly cheap, casually put forth to be burned.

Su Ziyu felt an itch on his stomach, looking down he saw his surface wounds had healed considerably. He unscrewed the Demon Gourd and poured Nun Fried a cup of wine, then took a couple of gulps himself.

The Demon Gourd is really useful.

As time passed by slowly, Su Ziyu suddenly felt the Demon Gourd in his hand tremble a little.

The first batch of Jade Dew had been successfully refined.

Su Ziyu picked it up, and upon unscrewing the lid, a strong aroma of liquor spread, even Nun Fried across from him raised her head in mild surprise, seemingly sensed something vaguely.

But this time Su Ziyu didn't invite her to drink together, he cautiously poured it out.

"What is this?" Nun Fried asked curiously.

"Jade Dew." Su Ziyu thought for a moment and explained, "Consider it a more advanced spirit."

Having said that, he drank it all in one go.

A gentle energy surged through his body, Su Ziyu soon felt his Spiritual Energy Limit increased by roughly 3%, even his injuries healed considerably.

Nun Fried hesitated slightly, her eyes showed a hint of longing as she softly said, "I want some too."

Longing.

This emotion hadn't been felt for a long time.

In the past, she only felt such clear yearning when faced with residual fire, even Immortal Brew was nothing more than a slightly interesting drink to her.

Because essentially, Immortal Brew is similar to the Elemental Bottle in effect.

"No more." Su Ziyu looked at her in surprise, sensing Nun Fried's thin longing, he explained, "This is hard to brew. It needs a substantial amount of Soul Power."

One thousand Energy Value is needed to brew a portion of Jade Dew, roughly equivalent to the soul of a BOSS-level enemy.

"I can help you gather souls." Nun Fried's longing grew increasingly evident, she earnestly said, "I hunt strong beings for you, and you give me this."

That's a completely different aura than residual fire.

If longing for residual fire comes from the soul, Nun Fried's yearning for Jade Dew stems from her body. Her form is composed of burnt ash, meant to serve as a tool capable of resurrection, but now longing for the power contained within this fine spirit.

Su Ziyu looked at Nun Fried, pondering whether he should agree to her request.

He knew the effects of Jade Dew.

If Nun Fried were trustworthy, then agreeing to her request would be unquestionable. But if Nun Fried were not, then such behavior would be aiding a potential adversary.

After all, she is unkindled ash.

After absorbing the power of residual fire, Nun Fried's strength had already skyrocketed. Drinking Jade Dew, and absorbing its energy could further strengthen her, so much so that even Su Ziyu couldn't predict how formidable she'd become.

Nun Fried quietly watched Su Ziyu, seemingly awaiting his response.

As time slowly passed.

This time Su Ziyu took a bit longer to ponder, before eventually lifting his gaze to focus on Nun Fried, saying slowly, "Yes."

"But I have one condition."

Nun Fried remained calm, asking, "What condition?"

"Help me against other Lords of Cinder!" The cooperation agreement didn't initially include Lords of Cinder, as they were incredibly formidable foes, and their partnership hadn't reached a stage where they could unite against such enemies.

Facing Lords of Cinder, anyone could perish, possibly being entirely consumed.

This time.

It was Nun Fried who fell silent, contemplating quietly, her expression showed a strand of hesitation.

Refusing may cause a rift between the two, naturally, Su Ziyu aimed for maximum benefit-as Lords of Cinder could drop Divinity Value. If Jade Dew could be exchanged for Divinity Value, then it's undoubtedly a worthwhile deal.

Even if Nun Fried eventually becomes his adversary.
