Chapter 88: How Did The Real Koul Meet His End?

Koul instantly snapped toward the figure's direction, alert.

The person's cloak had brushed past him as they passed, and stirred up an eerie sensation.

They had deliberately passed by so close to Koul as to make his cloak brush him.

Koul wanted to follow the figure but when he hastily snapped back toward it, his eyes could only catch a glimpse of it.

The figure seemed to have drifted away like the breeze itself.

Koul echoed the whispers in his head, feeling deeply unsettled.

He knew whatever that was, wasn't any ordinary being.

The possibility of it being a mere student with low grade powers is now ruled out. But I still have to find that witness though.

Although Koul had never experienced such a thing or encountered such, he quickly got over it.

He wasn't a child that was clueless or hadn't in a way, gone through similar occasions.

If anything, this mysterious person's appearance made him know the masterminds behind his problem weren't ordinary forces to be taken lightly.

Koul reached his room to meet the mess the school had caused. His bed, table, clothes and everything had been ransacked and poured out.

This awfully reminds me when the cops come in for search warrants.

Seeing how messy everywhere was, he felt even more tired.

He dragged his feet toward his bed and plopped down.

"I'll just leave it for Kanstiv," he exhaled.

He closed his eyes, intending to sleep away his fatigue.

Since I have no ability and have no possibility of awakening, there should be no problem if I miss a class.

It wouldn't hurt if I miss one or two. My best class would be physical health education. That is training with Kanstiv.

Minutes go by, turning into an hour.

But Koul still hadn't slept. He wasn't able to. He kept tossing and turning restlessly.

Ugh… I should be somewhere fucking Hera right now, but this bastards decided to create more problems for me. Sigh!

His chest mounted and fell with frustration. He rested his palm over his face and sighed.

Soon, a gentle knock came from his window.

Koul tilted his gaze toward it, but he said nothing. There was a dark blue curtain over the window but the person's silhouette could still be seen.

The person seemed to be squatting on the concrete window box projection.

With no response, the person knocked on the window again.

But Koul still didn't respond. He had a good idea who it was and didn't want to bother.

After a set of repeated knocks, the person finally spoke up.

"My Lord, it's me," Kanstiv said.

"I know," Koul sighed in response.

"I've come to discuss the issue at hand, but I need to come inside."

"Then do."

"…."

"My lord, the window is locked from the inside. If you'd please come open it and let me in."

"…."

Silence followed next. After a moment, Koul replied.

"Why should I?"

He was so stressed and tired he didn't want to even lift a finger. Kanstiv's request, even though it sounded very easy, felt like the most troublesome request to Koul at the moment.

"Please, my Lord. I wouldn't dare ask you to displace yourself for me ever again."

"Really? Then how would you be coming in here?"

"Uh.. I will find a way to lock it from the outside and open it myself."

"Huh? Isn't that subjecting me to attempts at my life? You're just making it easy for them."

Kanstiv went silent. Because thinking about it, it was true.

A loud sigh escaped Koul as he rose from the bed toward the window. He packed the curtain aside and clicked open the mini squared sectioned glass window.

"Thank you, your highness."

Kanstiv entered and locked back the window.

"So? Have you found the mastermind yet?" Koul asked as he walked back to his bed.

"As of the moment, no. The witness, however, yes."

Koul sat in his bed and gazed at Kanstiv, silently asking him to continue.

"A young boy the same age as you. He also enrolled on the same day as you."

"Have you made him talk yet?"

"No. I haven't even approached him yet. I plan to do that at night while everyone is asleep. Though it will be risky if we do it so soon because they'd know right away it was done by you because he testified against you," he said.

"How about we wait a few weeks?"

"Huh? Weeks? Even if we do it a year later, they'd still suspect me. They'd think I still hold a grudge against him and kidnapped him. Suspending this wouldn't matter."

"Don't carry it out at night, no. Everything will still come back to bite me. It's better you do that tomorrow while I'm in class. So when they realize he's missing, they'd see I'm there and wouldn't suspect me. Since they don't know about me and you, and consider me a loser, they wouldn't guess I sent someone," Koul said.

"Even if they do, I can deny it. Without proof, they can't do anything."

"Right, that's better."

"…."

Koul stared blankly at Kanstiv, questioning his use.

"Thought you were the vice captain. How come you're this dumb and didn't think to do it this way?"

Kanstiv bowed.

"I apologize, my Lord. I've been tired from everything and when I heard about this, I lost my calm for some moment and couldn't think straight."

"…."

Staaaaaarrrre…..

"Isn't it one of a knight's virtue to always keep a cool head in heated situations such as this?"

Kanstiv stared back at Koul, unwilling to make any further excuses as it seemed no matter what he said, Koul wasn't ready to buy it.

"Anyways, prepare to kidnap the boy tomorrow. I don't know how you'll do it but I trust you. Though I think there are higher powers behind this, he's our only lead for now."

"Yes"

Kanstiv bowed.

While Koul went back to bed, Kanstiv took it upon himself to clean up the mess the school made.

It took quite some time and after that, he left through the window.

After encountering that mysterious figure in the hallway, Koul had to rise and made sure to lock his window and bolt his door.

Then he went back to bed and slept off.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _

Late in the evening, Koul stirred awake from his deep slumber. He'd been out for hours.

He turned on his bed. The moment his eyes fluttered open, he met a glowing screen.

He flinched a little, surprised. But when he saw it was the familiar screen, he exhaled.

He looked back to the screen, and his face contorted in displeasure at its content.

[For denying the judge's summon and failing to come on the agreed day, you will now be forcefully summoned to the tabernacle.]

Tsk! Knew this was coming.

A wave of dizziness hit him instantly and he fell back on his bed, unconscious.

When his eyes opened next, he was at the tabernacle with the judges glaring down coldly at him.

|| Now, Koul Abner, let us hear how the real Koul met his end. ||
