Transmigrated into the Most Hated Scum. My Wives are Plentiful!

Chapter 72: A Deal for Freedom

Koul didn't want to end up being summoned by the judges while inside the office.

He hurried out and gave word to Kanstiv, asking him to get maids that would attend to his wives.

Then he ran to his chamber, locked the door and flopped down on his bed.

"Fuuu~~!" He exhaled aloud, releasing his fatigue.

I need sleep, but it's better I handle things with the judges first.

He wanted to stay awake to await the judges' summon, but he was too fatigued to keep his eyes open.

His eyes gradually drifted close and he was enveloped by sleep.

But he hadn't even slept far when a grating noise pierced his ears.

His face contorted instantly, and his hand immediately flew up to cover his ears.

The fuck…?

He slowly peeled open his heavy eyes. And the first thing he saw were figures cloaked in black, the judges.

A knowing look took over Koul's irritated face.

Finally! I was starting to think I needed tickets to see you guys now.

|| Will you regard us so blatantly or will you bow to greet us? ||

The same agitating voice as always.

Why should I bow to greet any of you?

Koul's eyes swept around to look for the woman with emerald eyes. When he sighted her at her usual seat, he felt satisfied for some reason.

Seeing as Koul ignored the judge who asked for greetings, their faces twisted uglily with contempt.

But before they could speak any further, Koul spoke.

"Since when did you care for measly things like this?" He questioned.

"You summoned me here for a penalty, right? Let's hear it then. The reason I deserve a penalty."

The judges flared up, wanting to unleash their anger upon him. But the woman with emerald eyes whom Koul was always conscious of, cut in.

|| Do not drag things. Get it done with so he can get out of our presence. ||

Koul dragged his gaze toward her, cold and stern for a brief moment before it turned cryptic.

Say all you want, you'll be within my reach soon. All of you.

Although displeased and dissatisfied, the judges relented. Only their faces portrayed their rage.

From far up, a male judge held up a scroll and started reading.

|| Young king of Munrhal, you have acted out of ways the real king would act. You have shown affection to women he didn't care about. You have also established their honor and presence in the palace. And many more minorities that don't align with his character. ||

The judge paused for a moment, grabbed another scroll and resumed.

|| For all this, you have incurred a penalty and shall be punished. ||

A wave of murmur from the judges displeased with Koul immediately followed.

|| I hope it's something brutal. ||

|| Good. That would wipe that smug smile off his face. ||

|| That will teach him, haha. ||

Koul, however, remained calm. He simply raised his hand, signaling he had something to say.

This further displeased most of the judges who thought mortals shouldn't have any opportunity to speak in their presence.

And certainly not KOUL.

"I cannot quite understand the reason for this penalty. I mean, it is unfair."

Low gasps of surprise surged through. The judges' faces wrinkled with annoyance.

"Are you saying a husband shouldn't care for his wives?" He questioned sternly.

He was serious. He already considered the judges to be scums, but couldn't believe what they were insinuating.

|| This isn't about a husband's responsibility toward his wives. It is about you acting out of the real Koul's character, || a female judge replied.

"Hmm? But is the real Koul right here now? Is he the one in the body?"

Before they could take offense to this, he continued.

"You say I showed affection to my wives when I only coaxed them to sate my urges. You say I established their honor and presence when I simply put things in order inside my palace. Is a king not capable of all this?"

His eyes pierced them directly. They were cold and stern. His expression wasn't anything warm.

"Why should I get punished for returning order to my own home? Is it not their rights to be respected for the mere status of being my wives? I have simply done what any reasonable person would do, so I think you're all just doing too much."

Honestly!

The judges kept silent. They simply stared, while some whispered among themselves.

The silence stretched a bit long as it seemed they were trying to come to a decision among themselves.

After some while, their decision was announced.

|| We will lift the penalty for today. But bear in mind that you will not be pardoned another time.||

Yes, yes.

"That aside, there's something else I would like to discuss with you all," he said.

His system that was aloft beside him panicked. It stared at Koul in panic, silently questioning what he wanted to talk about.

The judges, who were still quite bitter and found it insulting to hear Koul out, delayed in giving their response.

But a male judge gave him a go ahead.

"It is more like a deal, I'd say," Koul continued, further infuriating them.

A female judge's face tightened with severe irritation. Her tone came harsh and contemptuous as she spoke.

|| Are you saying you'll dare stand before us to strike a deal with us? ||

"Yes,"

Koul replied curtly with no atom of fear.

|| How bold, || she hissed.

But another judge gestured at her to wait.

|| Let's hear it. ||

A big smile bloomed across Koul's lips.

"Just to build a common ground, I know you are all clueless as to how the real Koul died," he blurted.

GASP!!

Some of the judges shot to their feet in shock. Their faces were pale with undeniable surprise.

They snapped their gazes to Koul's system and it cowered backward.

[I.. I didn't. It wasn't me.]

Koul glanced briefly at his system then back at the judges.

"What's with this overwhelming shock? It wasn't the system who told me, I've known it for a while now."

Yeah well, it took some time because I thought of you all as gods who knew everything.

Plus, before deciding to strike this deal, I've thought it out.

The fact that the judges rule this world and know everything that goes on but not this, simply means there are other supernatural powers at work.

This gives way to guess there are other supernatural beings controlling the strings somewhere.

The judges are like gods. If there's something they didn't know, it would mean their eyes were purposely veiled to not see it.

It might actually be one of them. A traitor in their midst. Who knows? Who cares?

And I'm sure they know this as well.

Unwilling to drag things further, the judges took back their seats and returned to their calm demeanor.

But what caught Koul's attention more was the woman with emerald eyes. Since the start, she had remained calm with little to no movement.

As if she was unfazed by everything.

|| Mortal! You will pay dearly if the deal is blackmailing us about exposing this, || a judge growled.

Koul sighed lazily.

"Rest assured, it isn't."

To whom will I even tell it to?

|| Then let's hear it, this deal of yours. ||

Koul's expression instantly turned from casual to stern.

"In exchange for my freedom, I will tell you how Koul Abner Ysmay died."
