Chapter 187: Rune Warrior
[A new path of Ascension has been added]
[The subclass: RW### has been acknowledged]
[New fusion paths have been added]
[New equipment, skills books, and blueprints have been added to the loot]
[New trial grounds have been created]
The announcements repeated similar texts yet no one took them lightly. Each new line was just as if not more impactful than the other.
Even Zyrus who had lived a thousand years was seeing such drastic changes for the first time. He had expected it to some extent as having a new class wasn't a simple matter, but still, things were way out of his expectations.
The cube had floated up on its own. It interfered with the system's text and did something that could be described as 'Hijacking'.
Zyrus was sure that the change would be beneficial to him, but he was worried that he'd lose out on the generous rewards from the sanctuary. It wouldn't be a lie to say that the whole sanctuary would benefit from his hard work. The rewards given in return should be proportional to that.
The way to acquire this subclass was too unique. He doubted then anyone except his own subordinates would achieve it. However, things were different for skills, equipment, fusion paths…etc.
Be it a subclass or a main class, it would have numerous skills based on how it was made. A class that worked on laws and runes would most likely be at the top when it came to the number of skills. Each player had developed identical yet unique rune formations that suited them best. Overall, this subclass had more quantity than quality. Its skills and equipment were bound to be spread across all rings.
This was the price Zyrus had to pay if he wanted the aid of the system to improve his strength. But now, he hadn't even named his subclass, much less seen its effects before it was being taken over by the cube.
*BZZZTttt*
As if it had sensed that Zyrus's mood was about to turn sour, the cube hurried up and finished its thing. Nothing had changed except the screen being different from before. The pure golden black screen was now surrounded by a hazy and static cubes of different sizes.
'Now's not the time to think about that,'
[Congratulations! You have created a subclass]
[You have earned the achievement: Founder of Runes (EX)]
[You have gained the Skill: Rune Vision(Unranked)(Can not be upgraded)]
[You have obtained special privileges as the creator of subclass]
[Additional rewards will be given each time you obtain the blessings of order]
There were no stat points that were awarded this time; what replaced them was something that was the most valuable thing in the entirety of the sanctuary– the Blessings of Order. Any rewards related to the blessing of order were extremely precious.
There was also another EX-ranked achievement and the unranked skill Rune Vision. Before he could look into that though, there was a more important thing to do.
[Please name your subclass for it to be effective!]
Zyrus rubbed his hands and pressed his claws on what looked like a tablet of alphabets. Just because he didn't pay much attention to this round of shatar didn't mean that he had forgotten about the players. On the contrary, he was confident that they could win as long as he did his job as the leader.
He had spent enough time on developing their mentality and built a sturdy foundation for them. Now, it was time for them to leave the nest and spread their wings.
'Consider this as my gift for graduating,'

Zyrus pressed 'Confirm' and changed the name of his subclass. Strictly speaking, this wasn't exactly his subclass.
Thousands of players also received the same notification as he did.
[You have activated the subclass: Rune Warrior]
What made this subclass special was the fact that despite having the same name it had different introductions and effects for each player. The one thing that remained unchanged was also what Zyrus wanted the most– a way to upgrade this class.
'Void that is infinite and nonexistent at the same time…indeed, the answer was there all along,'
Zyrus sighed in admiration as he looked at the status screen that showed his subclass. Even he had no idea just how much time and effort this would save in the future.
[Class: Rune Warrior]
You have seen the birth of laws and forged the runes of will. As the founder of this path, you shall pave the way for your followers.
Effects:
Passive (Exclusive)
Rune Ancestor: Those who have this subclass cannot surpass your progress in this class
Merit of the laws: Additional buffs will be given each time you reach a new rank in this class
Rune link: You will gain skill proficiency and damage buffs based on the number of players who have obtained this class, and their progress in it
Zyrus was pleasantly surprised after reading just the first part of his subclass. These passive skills were exclusive to him alone. With this, he wouldn't have to worry about facing others who were using the subclass created by him.
And this was just the starter for his grand feast of rewards.
Passive:
Symmetrical acupoints: Regardless of how your body evolves in the future, you will always have the same number of acupoints at similar positions.
Talisman Emperor: When using runic talismans created by you, their might will increase by 50%
Rune Order: You can assimilate with The runes(Inactive)
Of the three passive skills, the one Zyrus really needed was the symmetrical acupoints. His current void body cultivation was based on his humanoid shape. With the way his Sylvarix bloodline worked, even he had no idea what he would become in the end. It would waste a lot of his time if he had to get used to the acupoints in his new body and modify his subclass each time. These passive skills might as well be exclusive because apart from Zyrus, there was no one who had the bloodline of Sylvarix.
'Finally, it's time for the main dish,'
Passive skills were good on the long run, but what increased one's powers in the short term were the active skills.
Active Skills:
Vanquish: By using void runes you can erase an equal number of other runes. Works on every living and non-living object. (This skill is unaffected by level penalty)
Sphere of Infinity(Rank 1): You may summon void spheres based on your current level and comprehension. The skills effect will scale with your control over the surrounding runes.
There were only two active skills, but still, their might was far above any rare class in the sanctuary. Nothing much needed to be said about vanquish. A skill that could inflict damage on anything regardless of the circumstances was in a league of its own. Spheres of infinity were essentially the spell Zyrus was practicing before by kicking out the laws of five elements. Now that it was turned into a skill, he could use it with more efficiency.
It was a pity that the most important part– the way to progress in this subclass- was not revealed to Zyrus. Just like the previous times the reason behind that was that they were still in the second ring, an 'incomplete' world.
[You've finally done something helpful in this life, but I'm afraid I can't allow you guys to relish in this feeling]
Matope's words poured hot lava above Zyrus's head.
Literally.
Crimson clouds broke apart in the sky and filled the whole region with a drizzle of flames. The yellow gold flames didn't have much temperature, but the issue here was their quantity. Not even the imp king and Zyrus were spared from the environmental changes, much less the others.
The fight between the Vajeers and the imps was going on at full swing, and the outcome was as good as decided. It was simply a matter of seconds before the players clinched a victory. Nonetheless, no one was looking at the stat boosts or the battles right now. Every player had their eyes set on their new subclass. One group stood out like a sore thumb in the playerbase– they were none other than those who were going to use the flame elemental seed.
They had no choice but to watch others obtain subclasses while they waited for the event to be over. Perhaps their desperate wishes were heard by Matope as the gigantic slime had sped up the holmgang by adding environmental debuffs.
There was a reason why so many fire attribute buffs were given as blessings in this round of shatar. The rain of flames didn't show any signs of decreasing; instead, its color was slowly changing from yellow to orange. Things were still bearable right now because the players could survive on the platforms. Once the final phase began, all hell would break loose.
<Don't hesitate to use your subclass. Even if you are unfamiliar with it, its might should be greater than most skills in your possession>
"Yes, your majesty."
*BAANG*
The players' reply overlapped with strongfist's attack that shattered the imp's heart. That was the final blow that marked the end of this round.
[Ding! The first phase of Shatar has concluded]
