Chapter 14: God's gift
As Temorsth started to learn new weapons time passed quickly.
"Let's try something small first." His father showed him daggers...
"This isn't it...Then this..." followed by longswords...
"Alright, let's try something much heavier..." and then greatswords.
"Ugh... it's not comfortable..."But every time something was not exact, something was not right.
"I like this it's heavy but... my body is too short..."Of the three, he liked the greatsword the most but his body was still too underdeveloped to use it effectively, so they changed it again.
"Hm... no problem, let's see something else... If we don't find a better one, we'll look back at it later..."
And while he learned these from his father, he learned how to use various nimble weapons such as rapiers and scimitars from his mother.
"Ugh, it's too light... rather than these I just use my fists instead..."
"But...hm..." 'Why is he... strangely adequate with them... why is my baby so agile...? Didn't he only train his strength with swords...?' Thoughts of oddity crossed Elah's mind.
"Okay, let's leave the nimble blades and go to bows for a little, sweetie..."
...
'Why...?'
"Pull... hold... release..."
'Why...?'
*TWANG* "Hm... did I hit the middle...?"
'I don't understand, he is agile, dexterous, and accurate... then why...?' It turned out that he was exceptionally good with long and great bows, but the problem was that it was clear that he was not a fan of nimble blades and preferred melee combat over ranged.
Temorsths only spoke after he undreastud the basics of each weapon they threw at him. "I don't know... somehow I feel weak when I use them... I feel vulnerable, why is there no strength in nimbleness, why is there not agility in strength...?"
'Hm...?' As the words were heard by both Elah and Xalier it caused questions to arise in both of them...
'Dexterity in strength... strength in agility...?'
"OH!" After some thought, Elah came up with something, a weapon that was both dexterous and required a lot of strength to wield with one or both hands.
"Baby let's try this…" Elah said while two things appeared in her hands, one was a long eight-foot-long weapon the other was a longsword-like weapon but with a longer handle and shorter blade.
"Hm..." Seeing those Xalier thought and he also realized, "Yes, that's a great idea, Honey!"
"Are these... spears?"
"More specifically, a spear and a short spear or javelin."
"..." Temorsth's face looked confused, he knew what spears were but not to use them he hadn't even seen one before this was the first time.
'It isn't looking promising...' it wasn't anything great at first glance.
"Ah, let's give it a try." He walked to his mother with the words, standing before the long spear he looked it up and down.
Since each weapon took over a month to understand and learn, so much time has passed that by now Temorsth was over six years old and was close to becoming seven.
Though his body showed an even bigger difference after he started using Mana actively his body started growing even faster, he was much taller and muscular, and at around 150 cm he looked more like 12 or 13 years old.
'Wouldn't this be hard and uncomfortable to carry, not even speaking about training with...' But even with that, he was only slightly taller than half the size of the spear... he took the short spear instead and looked at it.
'It looks like a strange longsword.' At first, he tried holding it like a sword, but it felt strange to his hand, so he switched to holding it with only his left.
He held it to his side with its hilt touching his shoulder blade, he tried side cuts, but it felt weird...?
'What is...' or instead, was it too natural...?
He tried to use it in different ways, slashing and stabbing... 'It... it feels good... too good...' It was light, but it was heavy when he held it that way...
'It is a javelin right...?' Glancing at the form of the short spear he smiled 'Should I throw it...?' he changed his grip and raised the javelin over his shoulder, 'This will do...' he found a target tree twenty meters away.
'It is the same so... pull' As he never threw anything the like, he used what he learned with the bow...
'Hold...' Flexing his muscles while aiming, his left hand was behind his head...
'Release!' As he took a step forward the javelin was brought ahead, releasing it only when his hand passed his head... and it happened just as he let go.
[Notice: Acquired Skill "Javelin Mastery"!] The system called out.
"What?"
*Bang...* *Puff* Hearing the loud sound, both his parents and he looked in the direction of the sound...
"..." They saw a split tree, the javelin he threw was made of wood, but it caused so much destruction... it was terrifying.
"This..." Before anyone could say anything more Temorsth turned to his mother, and looked at the wooden spear in her hand, taking a few steps towards it he took it from her.
'I have to make sure I'm not dreaming.' He stood in the same position with the spear in his left hand and the shaft of the spear on his shoulder blade.
'Why is it...?' He was trying to use the spear with one hand and was surprised at how easy it was to use it, 'Mana...' Energy gathered in his grip, both blue and sliver, it was sowing his two elements of metal and water, and as he began to feel his arm getting stronger from the Mana and magic, new notifications came.

"..."
"..." No one could speak.
Temorsth was too shocked after what he had seen and heard, and both Xalier and Elah were surprised, not because of the destruction, but because they felt Temorsth's existence growing stronger, much stronger.
Silence ensued for a few seconds...
"Looks like we've found it…" The voice of Xalier broke the silence.
"Yes, it looks like…we did..."
But as just the mood finally started to lighten it became tense again, but this time not because of the surprise.
[Attention!]
[Attention!]
[Warning: A 'Great' creature is observing the Host!]
Both Xalier and Elah turned their heads to the sky, a presence too strong to ignore.
[Notice: The Great being has revealed his name.]
[The Great God of Spear is looking at you!]
"Interesting, truly interesting!" The very earth shook with the sound, so loud and powerful that it was painful to stand there and listen.
"Your talent... you're really worthy... you're truly worthy of it..." *HAHAHA* The laugh sounded like thunder.
"Will you be the one...?"

[Warning: Quest deletion commencing!]
"Hm? Oh, I see... Let me give you a suitable gift for our prospective friendship." You could hear an even louder sound, something came towards them, and very quickly at that.
"Huh...?" Looking up at the sky a bright light like a shooting star came towards them, it was far away, "Uh...?" but as they blinked, it was already there in front of the barrier.
"Don't forget to repay it to me when we meet someday!"
[Notice: Legendary quest "Repelyment to a God" has been acquired!]
[Congratulations: The Host can aquiver Quest from now on!]
*Agh* *Kgh* The barrier only stopped the light for a millisecond, as it broke through it, both Xalier and Elah fell to their knees.
*BANG* *PUFF* smoke and dust rose into the sky.
*cough*cough* 'What is...huh? This is...?' In front of Temorsth, a long wood or stick-like thing was edged into the ground.
"Grow, grow more, and be strong, let's fight one-day little child!" The voice was heard once more before it slowly died out.
...
"What was that...?" Until the voice was gone, Temorsth could not speak.
"MOTHER, FATHER!" When he saw both of his parents kneeling on the ground, he paled. Rushing to his mother, he touched her shoulder and looked her up and down for injuries.
'What happened!?' No visible damage could be seen, both she and Xalier looked physically fine, but they did not stand up, and their faces looked in pain.
Temorsth didn't know what to do. "What happened, can I help?"
"..no...nothing...don't worry...just give us... a few seconds..." The breathing was ragged and the words were smooth but there was no pain in the voice.
*sigh* Hearing this, he calmed down a bit but did not ease up fully... 'Who was that... what was that... A Great God...? Ultimate quest...what is that...?' His mind was in question, he didn't know anything so he was extremely confused.
After a few minutes, his parents were finally able to stand up and explain. "The barrier protecting the house was built with our magic and energy, when it broke it damaged our power as well, sending it into rampage and disharmony."
*sigh* Understanding the situation, he was no longer worried, 'Huh... broken?' but as he thought through what they said, he looked around.
Seeing the world around the house, he saw the woods he remembered, looking further, he again saw the devastation caused by the war. 'Not much has changed since the last time... the land is just as barren and desolate as it was back then.'
'I don't need much more time...So now instead...' Instead of continuing to look at the gruesome scene of destroyed land and death in the distance, he turned to look at the 'gift' he had received.
'What is that Aidana...?' With the question, Aidana showed its name in front of him.
[Heart Wood Spear]
[The Host should go on and touch it.]
