Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Secrets in the Tide
Back at their temporary shelter, Divine paced restlessly, her mind racing.
"That figure… they knew me," she said, her voice filled with frustration. "They called me Moonlight, just like everyone else."
Caelan watched her silently, his brow furrowed. "Whoever they are, they're dangerous. And they're clearly tied to your past."
Divine stopped, her gaze locking with his. "I need answers, Caelan. Real answers. Not fragments or riddles."
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Then we need to find someone who knows more about the Moonlit Archives. There has to be someone who can help us piece this together."
Divine nodded, determination replacing her frustration. "I'm not running anymore. Whatever I owe, whatever I've done, I need to face it. But I won't let it define me."
Caelan stepped closer, his expression softening. "You're stronger than you realize, Divine. And no matter what happens, I'll be by your side."
The intensity of his words caught her off guard, and for a moment, the tension between them shifted. The air grew heavier, charged with unspoken emotions.
"Thank you," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
As the storm outside began to subside, Divine couldn't shake the feeling that this was only the beginning. The shadows were closing in, and the secrets of her past were unraveling faster than she could prepare for.
But with Caelan by her side, she felt a glimmer of hope. Together, they would face whatever came next, even if it meant confronting the darkness head-on.
