Thriller!Me? The Death Knight

Chapter 29: Blood Beyond Naming

Wrapped in the cool, comforting embrace of the "Promotion Tome," Yi Bai felt a sense of unparalleled bliss.

His head gently rested on the shoulder of the "Promotion Tome," savoring the rare moment of peace. It was hard to say whether it was the transformation into a vampire that caused it, but the eerie, almost suffocating aura that emanated from the spirits around him seemed to have no effect on him now.

Exhausted from a full day of work, Yi Bai soon drifted into a steady, peaceful sleep, holding the "Promotion Tome" close.

Lina, observing this, seemed to have recalled something, a faint smile curling at the corners of her lips. She gently cradled Yi Bai's head in her arms, her touch as tender as a whisper.

Such a scene, if witnessed in the human world, would no doubt have shocked anyone present—Yi Bai could have easily become the "living Ning Caichen," a figure immortalized in legend!

For now, though, he was just a tired man, resting quietly. The world of horror had brought much death, pain, and despair to humanity, but in this fleeting moment, Yi Bai was simply at peace.

How long had he been asleep? Yi Bai stirred slightly, feeling a tingling sensation in his legs. As his eyes fluttered open, the first thing he saw was Lina's alluring, delicate face.

Instantly, an ancient, powerful dragon seemed to awaken within him, its wrathful spirit erupting like a great force. The long, coiled serpents of his legs shuddered violently at the sudden movement, retreating into stillness, frozen in place.

Dragon might spread through the room, and the temperature rose rapidly, the heat almost palpable.

A strange, somewhat embarrassed sound escaped from Yi Bai's stomach, breaking the tension of the moment.

Lina, ever attentive, immediately perked up. "Yi Bai, you're hungry, aren't you? You haven't eaten all day. I'll get something for you right now!"

With a swish, she was gone, a chilly breeze following in her wake.

Yi Bai let out a resigned sigh and patted his stomach. It seemed that before he could feed Lina, he'd need to feed himself first.

A few minutes later, Lina returned with a large plate of wheat bread and a small cup of milk. She looked at him with a hint of apology. "Sorry, there's not much in the way of food in the Horror World. This is all that's available in the Third Hospital."

"No problem," Yi Bai said with a smile, not picky at all. "I'm just grateful to have something to eat. I don't know how I got so lucky compared to the other players!"

He took a piece of the rough wheat bread and began eating without hesitation.

One piece... two... three...

His speed picked up, and before long, he was devouring the bread like a man starved. His eyes, which had begun to take on a faint reddish hue, showed signs of impatience.

"This... is strange..." Lina quickly noticed something off.

The bread she had brought him was more than enough to fill any adult, let alone just one meal, but Yi Bai was devouring it like a beast, getting more frantic with each bite!

"Wait a second..." Lina's eyes narrowed, and she seemed to understand something. She rushed to grab Yi Bai's arm.

"Mm! Hah!" Yi Bai kept shoveling food into his mouth, mumbling incoherently. His eyes had completely turned a blood-red shade.

"Awakened... he really has awakened! This speed... this suddenness..." Lina's face held a look of shock.

As a Death Angel in the spiritual realm, she was privy to many unusual phenomena. She knew that the first transformation into a vampire—known as Embrace—was no simple feat.

It was far from the process of creating a mere thrall; the one who was Embraced had to go through a long period of settling, fusion, and even potential death, before they could be fully transformed into a true vampire.

During this time, the one Embraced would awaken their unique bloodline abilities.

"Grrr!" The Ghoul, in a panic, began growling anxiously. Yi Bai was his only friend, and he couldn't bear the thought of anything happening to him.

"Don't worry. He's fine. It's just his bloodline awakening," Lina said, trying to calm the frantic Ghoul down. But the creature wasn't reassured.

Lina sighed, her ghostly aura intensifying as she quickly suppressed the Ghoul with her powers.

"Water! I need water! Give me water!" Yi Bai cried, his body feeling like it was on fire. The blood in his veins, each drop of it, seemed alive, surging through him in a wild, uncontrollable rush.

His heart pounded like a powerful engine, its rhythm shaking the room with each beat.

"Water! Water!" Yi Bai muttered weakly, his sharp fangs fully visible now where once were his canines.

Lina instantly understood. Yi Bai didn't need water—he needed blood!

And the blood needed to be of the highest quality to help him awaken properly.

"The higher the quality of the blood, the better the chances of Yi Bai awakening rare bloodline abilities…" she thought frantically.

She wasn't a vampire; as a Death Angel, she had no blood to offer. Her frustration mounted.

"Wait! The Rose Countess! She can help!" Lina suddenly remembered the key figure—Rose Countess, the one who could provide what Yi Bai needed.

Just as Lina made up her mind to use the phone in the consultation room to call her, a strange, ominous aura filled the room.

The air grew thick with malevolent energy, almost as if it were alive. Lina's Death Angel instincts immediately activated, her wings of gray spreading as a dark aura filled the room.

But she held her ground, turning to follow the source of the sinister energy.

Her eyes widened as she realized what had caused the disturbance: a single drop of dark red blood appeared on Yi Bai's palm. The eerie, unsettling energy radiated from that tiny drop, as if something twisted and grotesque was trying to break free from it.
