Chapter 018 The Two Sisters
Having stood to the side all this time, listening with expressions that changed several times but without ever speaking up, Jin Guoqiang, as soon as he heard some noise, immediately walked out.
Soon, Luo Ziling saw through the window the figures of two girls appearing in the garden.
One was the beautiful girl he had encountered upon his arrival, recognizable from her attire. The other was dressed in a black business suit, but as Luo Ziling looked over, their figures had just hidden themselves in the flower bushes, and he couldn't make out their appearances clearly.
Ouyang Lingyun smiled, "It must be Feifei and Huihui who have come back."
"Huihui?" Luo Ziling then learned that the beautiful girl he had encountered earlier was Ouyang Huihui.
As footsteps drew nearer from afar, the two girls entered the living room one after the other.
The girl in the lead was quite tall; by Luo Ziling's estimation, she had to be at least 1.72 meters in height, her hair done up on top of her head, accentuating her tall and straight figure. But, because of the backlight, her face was still not clear.
Luo Ziling quickly stood up.
The two girls walked up to Luo Ziling and Ouyang Lingyun before finally stopping.
Only then did Luo Ziling get a clear look at the face of the girl in front of him.
Upon seeing the girl's face clearly, Luo Ziling experienced a moment of distraction.
Bright as spring flowers, pure as the autumn moon, willowy like the gentle wind, devastatingly beautiful as if to topple cities and nations—as refreshing as a breeze, as subtle as a stream, as dazzling as sun on winter snow—Luo Ziling actually didn't know how to describe the appearance of the girl before him.
Before, he thought the woman in the photo was the most beautiful in the world, but upon seeing this girl's face, his perspective started to waver. A surge of indescribable palpitation rose in his heart, along with an immense sense of loss—he had actually rejected a marriage to such a beauty, whose loveliness defied words.
If the world knew about it, probably everyone would call him as stupid as a pig.
No, a million times more foolish than a pig.
After their eyes met for a while, eventually, Luo Ziling could not withstand her gaze and lowered his eyelids.
"Hello... hello to you both," he said, forcing a smile, and seeing the other girl poking her head out, said with embarrassment, "I just learned that you are Ouyang Huihui. I offended you yesterday, I'm truly sorry."
The beautiful girl with whom Luo Ziling had had a conflict, disdainfully pursed her lips, "You don't need to know what I'm called."
"Huihui, is that how you speak?" Ouyang Lingyun got annoyed, glaring at Ouyang Huihui, and told her to quickly return to her room.
Having just come in and already scolded by Ouyang Lingyun, Ouyang Huihui couldn't help but pout prettily, "Grandfather, you can't betroth sister to this country bumpkin, he's just a jerk. How could someone like him be worthy of sister?"
Ouyang Huihui's words left Ouyang Lingyun very embarrassed, with his complexion growing even darker.
"If you don't get lost, you'll face family discipline," he threatened in a lowered voice.
Ouyang Huihui was startled and, not daring to say another word, tugged on her sister's clothes and ran off.
"Or perhaps you should speak directly to Feifei about your intentions," Ouyang Lingyun gestured for Luo Ziling to sit, "after all, Feifei is back. Although she wasn't opposed to your marriage arrangement before, I know she wasn't keen on it."
Ouyang Feifei was told, "Feifei, Ziling is here today not to propose marriage, but to break off the engagement."
These words caused Ouyang Feifei's expression to change drastically, and she looked at Luo Ziling with eyes full of astonishment, but she quickly regained her composure.
She didn't speak but went over to the chair opposite and sat down gracefully.
Her posture was so elegant that Luo Ziling couldn't help but glance over at her—it was just out of curiosity.
Ouyang Feifei did not avoid Luo Ziling's gaze, and when he looked at her, she met his eyes without any fear.
Luo Ziling had already felt the oppressive aura from Ouyang Lingyun, and he felt a similar aura emanating from Ouyang Feifei.
He hadn't expected to encounter Ouyang Feifei today, let alone that Ouyang Lingyun would announce his intention to break off the engagement in front of Ouyang Feifei. He felt extremely awkward inside. He hadn't even noticed that Ouyang Feifei's expression had undergone several changes while he talked.
After stuttering through his reasons again, Luo Ziling could no longer sit still, and he stood up, "Sir Ouyang, Miss Ouyang, I have military training tomorrow and need to prepare, so I must take my leave."
"Okay, come over for dinner next time; I'll send a car for you," Ouyang Lingyun also stood up and instructed Ouyang Feifei, "Feifei, escort Ziling out."
"Mm." Ouyang Feifei, who hadn't uttered a word since entering the room, responded softly and then stood up.
Standing beside Ouyang Feifei, Luo Ziling subconsciously straightened his own body.
At about one meter eighty, he was considered tall among men, but standing next to Ouyang Feifei made him feel somewhat short. Women appear taller, and with the added height of high heels, standing beside the one-meter-seventy-something Ouyang Feifei, he felt even shorter.
"Sir Ouyang, I hope you don't mind my abruptness today," Luo Ziling said apologetically to Ouyang Lingyun and then departed.
Ouyang Feifei silently followed at his side, her steps graceful as she saw him out, as if Luo Ziling were her attendant.
Luo Ziling had entered through the cloistered walkway, but when he left with Ouyang Feifei, they crossed the bridge over the pond in the middle of the garden.
There was also a pavilion in the middle of the bridge, probably for watching fish. When they reached the pavilion, Ouyang Feifei stopped her steps and turned to look at Luo Ziling. Luo Ziling also had to stop and awkwardly faced Ouyang Feifei.
This woman was so beautiful that he didn't dare to look her straight in the eye. When he did look into her eyes, he felt dizzy, and breathing in the faint scent emanating from her, Luo Ziling felt intoxicated.
"This is something you gave me fifteen years ago," said Ouyang Feifei in a charming voice, like the song of a yellow oriole, and she extended her open palm towards Luo Ziling, "I've kept it all this time."
Luo Ziling recognized it immediately; it was a small gift he had given to Ouyang Feifei, who had come for a medical visit to his grandfather when he was five years old—a beautiful crystal stone he had found accidentally in the hills behind the village.
To think that after all these years, Ouyang Feifei had kept it all along was very surprising to him.
Seeing Ouyang Feifei continue to hold out her hand, Luo Ziling thought she wanted to return it to him and hesitated before reaching out to take it.
But just as he was about to take it back, Ouyang Feifei withdrew her hand and continued walking forward.
Luo Ziling paused for a moment, then had no choice but to follow!
