The Witcher – Uchiha Madara!

Chapter 225 - Oxenfurt.

[Chapter Size: 1900 Words.]

Third Person POV

Redania.

...

...

The University in Oxenfurt, in Redania, was having a quiet night when the moon reached the highest point in the city.

In contrast, the city was quite busy, guards patrolling all the streets much more than usual. After all, the king and his family were staying that day in Oxenfurt to travel through Redania and personally speak with his vassals and even the people.

Inside the university, a shadow easily slipped over its walls, jumping between rooftops without making a sound. The shadow looked toward the university while some guards were patrolling inside, but it was all dark at that moment, with only a few windows lit by small lamps, perhaps students reading books or even professors correcting their students' work.

The shadow moved across the rooftops to one of the buildings used for research at the University. The intruder easily opened a window and entered a sort of research laboratory.

He walked forward, ignoring various objects, and continued to a table, finding some scattered items, but what caught his attention was a nearly intact gauntlet. There was also a shoulder piece, while the rest were charred fragments of other parts, but the dagger and shoulder piece were still whole.

He carefully examined the pieces.

"No doubt about them," Madara commented, opening the scroll and beginning to place those two parts of the armor inside it to store them.

Without saying another word after the silent smoke, he put away the scroll and headed for the window he had come through.

It was at that moment that the door to the place began to open.

"What are you doing, Shani?" a voice came from behind, as a girl entered the room.

"I don't know why, but I felt that something was going to disappear from here. It's a premonition," she said in a suspicious tone, stepping quickly into the room until she reached the table where Madara had just been, and looked stunned.

"What is it?" her study partner asked. Both were researchers and were directly involved with the items on that table, studying those strange armors in the records, as it was a request from the king.

"They're gone. Someone took them! I knew something was going to happen!" Shani murmured, looking toward the window, seeing nothing that indicated where the possible thief had gone.

"Maybe some professor took them. We can ask tomorrow," her companion said, while she sighed, feeling she might also be wrong and that one of the professors or university staff could have taken them to study.

Even so, it was too much of a coincidence that she had felt, with her sixth sense, that this would happen.

Either way, Madara wasn't even there to hear the conversation between the two students and wouldn't care about their suspicions, after all, no one else could remove those pieces from him.

He was already leaving the University at that moment and was passing through the city until he stopped at an inn. Entering through the window, he found Geralt standing, drinking.

As they had shared the room, he looked at Madara, raising an eyebrow.

"So... that was fast. Did you get it?" he asked.

"Obviously," Madara replied, in a direct tone.

"I shouldn't have even asked," Geralt muttered, while Madara simply headed to the bed.

"We'll talk tomorrow," was all he said as he lay down. Geralt sighed and stayed awake a bit longer, thinking.

The next morning.

The gauntlet hit the table as a feminine hand picked it up. About four pairs of eyes were watching it at that moment.

"I've never seen anything like it," Yennefer commented, as they all sat in a corner of the tavern, avoiding attention.

It had been almost a month since they had found Yennefer and headed to the coast of the kingdom of Redania, with Yennefer proving to be a welcome addition.

Now the group could enter cities, as she had spells that fooled everyone around — at least as long as they remained discreet and she didn't encounter any other sorcerers who could detect the field of low presence.

But it was good that they could now share taverns, without needing to sleep in forests anymore, even though life had also been peaceful with Madara constantly building houses here and there with mokuton.

Now in Oxenfurt, after securing an inn in a less conspicuous part of the city. Madara wanted to investigate the items that had gone to the university with the news — and stole them.

"That's because it doesn't belong to this world." Madara answered Yennefer's comment.

That made everyone's eyebrows raise — Ciri, Geralt, and Yennefer were there with Madara.

"What do you mean...?" Yennefer asked, with Ciri also looking confused. Geralt, however, was a bit more aware, as Madara had already been sharing some information for some time.

"The Wild Hunt. They're after Ciri," he said, making Ciri immediately choke while eating a piece of bread.

"Ciri? Why...?" Yennefer asked, concerned.

"Because of her powers. Actually, the Elder Blood — the source of her power — was never originally from this world, but rather came from a world ruled by elves. I can't explain the details very well, and there are some things I can't speak of..."

"...but it belonged to an elven woman who fled her world, as she was being used as a tool. She came to our world, where she fell in love with a human and they got married. She is Ciri's ancestor, and I saw in Cintra that her name was Lara Dorren aep Shiadhal."

"Ciri's power is in her blood... and it only manifests in the girls of the family. Because of the fight we had in northern Kaedwen, somehow that drew the attention of the elves from that world... And they have the ability to track the power and even open portals in search of it anywhere, and they will do that to reclaim the Elder Blood."

"What does that mean?" Ciri murmured, very worried.

"It means you'll be their target. They'll, in some way, be able to track your powers while you use them," he said with a serious tone.

"It can't be..." Ciri murmured, worried. That concern was also shared by the other two people at the table.

"You're saying that people from another world... are after Ciri's power?" Geralt asked, since Madara hadn't given many details before.

"Elves, Geralt. They are elves who usually survive by destroying other worlds. They invade worlds, kill all their inhabitants, establish their society, extract all the resources, and when it's over, they move on to the next world."

"The Elder Blood was a tool they wanted to further enhance their travel between worlds, allowing them to invade much more easily and bring in large armies. That's why they'll do anything to hunt down Ciri and reclaim the blood that once belonged to them," Madara said, while Ciri fell into a thoughtful, worried silence.

"So... I'm being hunted..." Ciri murmured quietly.

"Can you handle this situation?" she asked Madara, hoping he had the answer, as he always did.

"We'll have to be careful from now on. But even so, we'll destroy anyone who dares attack us. And I want to create some measures in case something unexpected happens," Madara said calmly, while Ciri nodded, taking his hand and squeezing it in an affectionate gesture, while the boy just kept his serious gaze.

Yennefer smiled at that, easing some of her concern.

"Well, it's good to know you're confident in dealing with whatever comes. But we'll help too, when they try to take her. Won't we, Geralt?" she asked the witcher.

"Obviously. No one's going to kidnap Ciri," Geralt said firmly.

"Anyway, let's leave that discussion for later. I want to go to the event that's happening in front of the castle this morning," Madara said, and everyone agreed.

In the end, they finished their meal there quietly, not touching on the subject again after Madara stored the gauntlet once more, while the innkeeper seemed unaware of the presence of a witcher, a sorceress, and two youths with distinct features. He simply took their order without question.

In the end, the tavern was paid for, and they left, while the streets were already bustling, with everyone rushing toward the center of the city of Oxenfurt.

There was an announcement from the king scheduled for that morning. Madara, Ciri, Geralt, and Yennefer joined the crowd, all hooded, looking among the rest of the people toward the castle as a platform was being raised for the presence of the king and his family.

"This reminds me of Cintra..." Ciri couldn't help but comment, with a sad, nostalgic look for her homeland.

"Yeah..." Madara simply affirmed.

It was at that moment that the guards up top began to stir, and figures started stepping onto the stage from the castle, while everyone saw a very well-dressed man, with a crown on his head, approaching the edge of the platform.

"Citizens of Redania, this is King Vizimir II!" a herald who had followed behind announced, as more people appeared: a woman and a young man around Madara's age, also very well dressed, right behind — the heir to the kingdom, also known as Radovid, who would one day bear the title of King Radovid V, The Cruel, and would further empower the Church of the Eternal Fire against non-humans more than at any other time in history.

"Citizens of Oxenfurt, I bring you news. Perhaps the war has not ended after all these years…" he began, as the crowd began expressing concern and murmurs.

"Nilfgaard is raising a new wave of soldiers to march against Temeria. Therefore, we will be expanding our armies even further. If we must fight for the North, we will unite with the other kingdoms and will not let a single bastard from the South set foot on our lands!" he roared, as applause spread throughout the crowd along with the king.

The king went on to speak more about Nilfgaard's possible movements, and how they were preparing. Madara ignored the king — he already knew all that information — and turned his gaze to the group behind him, disregarding his family and the university scholars present.

There stood Sigismund Dijkstra, along with other advisors and the sorceress Philippa Eilhart. He was the head of espionage for the kingdom. As his gaze swept over the crowd, he searched for any signs of suspicion.

It could even be said that Dijkstra's eyes briefly met Madara's for a moment, before the man moved on, continuing to scan all directions.

"Who's that sorceress?" Ciri asked Yennefer, looking at another woman — Redania's royal sorceress.

"Philippa Eilhart. Very ambitious… but seems to serve the Redanian regent well…" Yennefer commented.

"Well, let's go. We have nothing else here," Madara said, wondering if he would ever return. If he wasn't there by chance in the future, he'd probably be there to kill Radovid. But he would leave that for the future, still unaware of what would truly unfold in his journey.

They began to leave the area.

Dijkstra's gaze seemed to fall on them, noticing four hooded figures discreetly slipping away from a corner of the crowd. He raised an eyebrow.

In the end, they left through the city gate easily, traveling north, already close to their next goal, and advanced directly to Novigrad, the largest port city in the North, where their search for a ship to take them to Skellige would begin.
