Unresolved Issue
Chapter 66 Unresolved Issue
The bewildered witch hat regained its composure when it realized Aleshia was still alive and nearby. It had seen the wolves fighting, and based on that demonstration, she feared that Aleshia might have been seriously injured or even killed.
Lucia examined the marks left on her hat form and used them to determine where Aleshia might have launched the magic. Using her ability to see beyond her physical body, she detected some traces of Aleshia in the area where she was looking, allowing her to pinpoint Aleshia's exact location.
Lucia hesitated to emerge from the shade of the tree and reunite as she didn't want the wolf leader to discover Aleshia's location. She was afraid that the leader would order its wolves to attack Aleshia. Lucia pondered how to reach Aleshia without alerting the wolf leader but couldn't put forth a plan. Suddenly, the wolf leader's voice interrupted her thoughts, "It seems you are awake," it said. Startled, Lucia flinched before turning toward the voice. In a sour tone, she replied, trying to make the wolf forget her slip. "I sure am awake now."
The wolf seemed to disregard her slip and spoke about the recent events. "None of the wolves that had collapsed were seriously injured. Thank the spirits of nature. But the perpetrator did get away. Disregarding that, we should try and fix those distortions over there," the wolf said, glancing toward the distortions that Lucia had made.
Lucia had been trying to put that matter in the back of her mind and had an excuse to leave the matter unresolved. However, when she looked at it again, she saw that they had grown a sizeable amount since the last time she saw it. "Oh my," she said in surprise, unconsciously backing away. "'Oh, my' certainly is an apt way to describe it," the wolf said in agreement.
Lucia agreed with the wolf in need to quickly address the distortions and urgently began leaping toward the location, with the wolf trailing behind. As Lucia got closer, the world around her started to look and sound distorted and wavy, similar to a mirage. She soon arrived near where the distortions were seen the clearest, with the wolf leader behind her. "Alright, so how can I help with this?" Lucia said. "I'm pretty sure I do not know how to resolve this issue." The wolf thought on the matter, giving a rough explanation. "Since you brought this about, you might be able to reverse it. But rest assured, you won't be alone in the struggle to undo this, as I will be helping you.
