The Aftermath
Chapter 54 The Aftermath
The wolves cautiously turned their heads toward the rustling, only to be struck moments later by a wave of sound that left them incapacitated. It was a surprising, previously undiscovered effect of Aleshia's lightning power. The lightning she had infused into the clump of dirt created a bomb with an unexpected special aftereffect that proved beneficial. The lightning must have made a wave of sound that only affected that particular type of creature. Fortunately for Aleshia, it seemed that the explosion stunned the wolves and rendered them temporarily unable to fight back. Aleshia quickly recognized this as a unique effect of her lightning power, noting its peculiarity since her lightning had never exhibited that ability before. Aware of the looming threat of the wolves' reinforcements, she decided to retreat until she could better understand her magic new quirks.
Aleshia carefully observed the first wave of wolves, noticing they seemed disoriented. As she quietly descended from the trees, she was sure to climb down with utmost caution, staying out of the wolves' line of sight. Aleshia knew that her concealment spell might not be foolproof against the keen senses of the wolves, so she took extra care. Aleshia stealthily moved away from that part of the forest, taking an arcing path to Lucia to avoid potential threats.
The group of wolves farthest away, known among the pack for their exceptional hearing and sight, were also affected by the sound wave from Aleshia's lightning-infused bomb. However, they recovered more quickly than the wolves closest to the noise. The scout wolves saw the presence in the trees vanish. When they confirmed their target had escaped, the wolves decided not to pursue. They signaled the ranged wolves to stand down and turned their attention to the melee group. The scout wolves noticed that they were in bad shape. They then instructed some of the wolves in the ranged group, who were skilled in tending to wounds, to go and assist the injured group.
Three wolves from the pack approached the dazed and wounded wolves. These healer wolves could draw energy from the environment with their mastery over nature. They transferred this energy to the dazed wolves, helping them heal quickly. The healer wolves focused their attention on the wounds inflicted by Aleshia's bomb, which had caused internal injuries to the affected wolves. After a few minutes, the stunned wolves snapped out of their daze. One by one, the healer wolves assessed their condition and rejoined the pack.
