Chapter 459: Having Tea Together
(From Evan's Perspective)
My health was not as good as I thought it to be. Because of the rain, I caught a cold every now and then.
Alphas got sick very less. But I was not completely an Alpha as I was a dark mage as well. That was why, I got sick sometimes. Because of my sickness, I had to stay in bed these days.
But Blue's knight thought completely a different thing and since I was not sleeping with any woman these days because of more than one reason, I could not help refusing such an accusation right away.
"You cannot be sick, Your Highness, the King of Trouvaille," Knight Perita said, "for you are an Alpha."
"Perita, do not be insolent to Evan. Show proper respect, or I will get really angry," Blue said warningly to her knight. She sounded like she was Knight Perita's mother, despite her being younger and Knight Perita also listened to her like a daughter would listen to her mother.
"My apology, Your Highness," Knight Perita said immediately.
"But, it is odd how you keep on sleeping for a long time, Evan. Are you sure you are okay?" Blue asked with concern. It gave me a sense of peace when I found someone truly worried about my health and being real when I could only see fake people with their fake sincerity around me.
"I won't say I am in a great condition physically," I said. "I caught a cold and got headaches frequently. I felt like the whole world was spinning around me every time I pulled my head up from the pillow." Stay tuned for updates on empire
"Oh my, why didn't you tell us anything?" she gasped. "It must have been bad."
"It wasn't that bad. I was a little lazy too actually," I said.
"If you told us, Doctor Dimitri could have taken a look at you and prescribed you something," she said, ignoring me. "I think it was bad enough as you could not really get out of your room these days. How are you feeling now?"
"Since I have gotten out, I sure am healthy as I was at the beginning," I said. "I have come to find you to have tea with you."
"Ah, right… I haven't had my morning tea yet," she said. "Calix and Perita, would you two like to join?"
"Thank you for the kind invitation, Your Highness, however, Perita and I were to train a bit and now that His Highness, the King of Trouvaille, is here, we would like to practice for a bit," Calix said.
"Alright," she said. "But we will have lunch together. So, come back by then."
"We will, Your Highness," he said and both of them bowed before taking their leave.
Blue ordered the maids to serve us tea and we both sat on the couch near the fireplace to drink tea in comfort. Blue's stomach seemed to have gotten bigger in a short amount of time. Every time I looked at her, I could not help but stop looking at her stomach.
The thought of her carrying King Demetrius's child annoyed me, yet I could not help but feel the need to protect the child as it was a part of her as well. As must as I hated the fact that she was carrying his child, I also could not hate her or her child for it. I probably did not hate King Demetrius as well. I just hated the fact he was her husband.
"The weather change can be quite a burden," she stated. "I have started to get headaches too. It must be the reason you caught a cold, Evan."
"It is. I do get cold sometimes, so it's not a big issue," I said. "What about you? Are you okay? Do you not feel any discomfort?"
"No, it's fine. These days, the baby kicks more than ever," she said. "I got a cramp that day, you know. It was mild, not too bad. But Doctor Dimitri cautioned me to let him know in case my cramps felt abnormal."
"What do you mean 'abnormal'?"
"Well, you know, out of ordinary. I will understand that," she said. "I also could understand when my period cramp felt a little out of the ordinary one day and it turned out that it was not just period cramp, but I also had a gas problem."
"I suppose women will understand this more as they have to face it," I said. "We don't get period cramps or anything like that. It must be bad."
"Not always, but it can be," she said.
"No, no, it has to be bad. It cannot be pleasant to have blood dripping out of your vagina for seven days!"
She burst out laughing. "If you put it that way, yeah, it certainly is not easy," she said, still laughing. "Dem hates it even more than me. He is like, if a period comes to let you know that you are not pregnant and you can be a mother, it can just go right away after showing for one second. He really struggles to accept it as a natural thing and gets angry every month over the same thing."
"It probably annoys King Demetrius for more than one reason," I said.
She chuckled. It gave me the pain to act to be all happy when she talked about her husband so lovingly. I was not angry, of course, just a little sad. But I was happy too. It was probably a mixture of happiness and sadness.
After our tea was finished, we still did not get up and kept talking about various things over some refreshments.
"I also have something to ask you, Evan," Blue said after a while.
I knew she had something to tell me or inquire of me, but I felt I should not push her so she could get herself ready in case she was not prepared or comfortable enough.
"Have you heard of an entity that can take you somewhere and you perceive it as a dream because you did not move from your place at all?"
"What do you mean? I'm afraid I do not understand…"
"For example, you see someone taking you somewhere. Then, all of a sudden, you feel like you have been struck by lightning and you find out that you were dreaming. But, then, there is a twist. You hear from someone that you met in that so-called dream and they say that they have seen you at the exact same time."
"A person has to take me there?" I asked.
"Yes, a person."
"Did it happen to you?"
"Just tell me first," she said.
She looked calm, yet not her usual self. Something surely was bothering her. I had never heard of something like that, but I could not shake off the possibility of something like that existing because I had seen many things that people thought could not exist, but did.
"I will not lie. I truly never heard of something like that, but read about a monster in a children's book once when I was a kid," I said. "That monster was called a fear-eater. It would take the form of someone's friend and enter their dream to take them somewhere. They would follow the monster thinking it was their friend. It would create illusions and cause dreadful nightmares.
But it never connected with real life but dreams only. This kind of creature or monster or whatever you want to see it as, only exists in books, as far I know and I have never heard or read about an incident that involved something like this. I'm afraid I am not of much help on this matter."
She remained silent and was deep in thought.
"Tell me the truth, Blue. It will help me understand more."
"It's not much. One of my maids told me about something like this happening to her and the other night, I remembered it all of a sudden," she said. "I could not get it out of my head since then."
I stared at her, trying to figure out the authenticity of her statement. However, I could not understand much of a thing and decided to believe it to be the truth until proven otherwise.
"That said, have you heard from King Demetrius recently?"
"I did. He is well," she said. "He keeps nagging me saying I need to take care of myself more. Tell me, Evan, do I not take care of myself more than ever?"
"That is so unfair of King Demetrius to ask you so when it is in fact true, that you take care of yourself for the sake of your precious baby more than anyone can do. But, you also need to understand that he is just too worried as he has to stay so far from his dear wife and unborn child."
