The Walking Dead: reborn as Carl

Chapter 137: Chapter 140 Meaning

Progress is rapid.

At just eleven o'clock on the morning of the third day, Sean and his team had cleared all areas except the largest prison area.

After two and a half days of high-intensity fighting, many people were a little tired, which had a great impact on combat effectiveness.

So on the third day, Sean discussed it and decided to rest for most of the remaining day and start cleaning the prison area on the fourth day.

The main reason for this decision was the death of two more people, both on the morning of the next day.

However, the remaining nine people, including Sean and three others, were equipped with a set of explosion-proof armor, which prevented any accidents from happening later.

Thanks to the explosion-proof armor, the mentality of the remaining few people did not collapse.

On the fourth day, at eight o'clock in the morning, Sean and the others stepped into the wall again and entered the final prison area.

Carl was patrolling the barbed wire as usual. With some experience, Carl could use steel bars to deal with the zombies more easily.

Of course, the prerequisite is that there is a barbed wire fence between them.

"Today is the 29th, so maybe we can pick them up on the first day of next month." Carl couldn't help but smile.

Although I was a little bored these days, I missed Beth on the farm and was a little worried.

But it's almost time. After cleaning up the prison area today, there shouldn't be any problems. Even though a few people died, as long as we absorb those in the prison, the impact on our combat power won't be that big.

The only thing that needs attention is that two of the five people in the prison seem to be restless, but Carl is confident.

If I don't even have this little bit of confidence, then all the time I spent thinking these days would have been wasted.

After a round of inspection, Carl used steel bars to kill more than ten zombies. He put the steel bars back to where he usually put them. Usually, his hands would become sore after using steel bars to kill more than ten zombies.

There are only more than ten zombies in the whole circle, and this is the number accumulated overnight. It doesn't seem like a lot, but it is still very annoying when one or two of them pop up from time to time.

Carl's patrol was not just about watching for zombies, he was also observing the terrain, not only inside the prison but also outside the prison.

After a round of inspection, I took a short break and then continued my inspection, because there was nothing else to do.

The sun was not very bright today and the sky was a little gloomy, which made Carl realize belatedly that the sun had already risen to the middle of the sky without him noticing.

It was noon, and Sean and the others should have returned at this time normally, but they hadn't today. Carl didn't think much about it, thinking that perhaps they wanted to clean up the prison area thoroughly at once.

He went to the armored vehicle to get some food to eat, and after eating, he took some more and walked towards the watchtower where Andrea was.

Climb up the watchtower and you will hear it.

"Carl."

Andrea had already seen Carl up there.

"I brought some food. Sean and the others should be back late today." Carl handed the bread and chocolate in his hand to Andrea.

"Thank you, Carl..." Andrea looked a little hesitant.

"It's okay, I'm leaving first." Carl nodded and was about to leave.

"I saw it," Andrea said.

"What?" Carl turned around and looked at Andrea calmly.

"You killed Daniel." Andrea frowned and looked at Carl with strange eyes.

"You're seeing things. Wasn't he knocked down by a zombie?"

"Karl, do you think I'm stupid? I saw it clearly, don't you want to explain it?"

"Maybe I missed it. I didn't notice it."

"Your expression was very calm, you definitely didn't miss the target, Carl!"

Carl frowned slightly, "Does this matter?"

"What do you mean?" Andrea was stunned.

"Is this important? Is there any need to talk about it? It was bitten by a zombie. Whether it was knocked down by a zombie, or I missed it, or I did it on purpose, does it matter?"

"Karl...how could you say such a thing?" Andrea found it hard to accept.

"Being bitten by a zombie means there's no hope for him. You know that too. So, I'm just helping him get rid of it."

"But this shouldn't be done by you. How can you make such a decision without any pressure, or even help him make the decision."

"Andrea, you need some time to think about this."

"Thinking about what?"

"That's it. I have to go."

After saying that, Karl ignored Andrea and turned around and climbed down the watchtower.

Andrea's questioning did not cause any ripples in Carl's heart. It was just a trivial matter.

Leave the watchtower, return to the barbed wire area under your responsibility, and continue patrolling.

It's boring, but at least I'm alive.

After another round, Carl leaned against the wire mesh and squinted his eyes.

"Uh uh…"

Not long after he closed his eyes, more zombies from the outside world wandered over nearby and obviously discovered Carl.

"Do you know you're noisy?" Carl opened his eyes, didn't move, pulled out the Glock, shot, put it back, and squinted again.

"Carl, where are you?"

Sean's voice came from the intercom, Carl opened his eyes and said as he walked back;

"What's wrong?"

"We found those guys, and one of them I'm sure is the murderer."

"I guess his name is Thomas."

"Did you see him?"

"Yes, it can be used."

"We lost another person."

Just from the tone of voice, Karl could already imagine the sad look on Sean's face when he said this.

"Don't you have explosion-proof armor?"

"There were too many zombies, they overwhelmed him. We only found Thomas and the others when we were retreating."

"There's nothing we can do about it. Sacrifice is inevitable. Perhaps you can ask Thomas and the other five to join you. This way, the efficiency will be higher."

"Well, I'll talk to them and then continue, but I'm not sure we can clear out the prison area today. It's very difficult to clean in here.

The light is dim, the roads are complicated, there are doors everywhere, and zombies can appear from anywhere. "

"Well, it doesn't matter if you can't clean it out. You can continue the same thing tomorrow. Be careful. Oh, and pay attention to those people in the prison."

"Notice?"

"Well, Shuangyi, besides being careful with them, you should also take care of them. They have no experience in dealing with zombies. Of course, if they die, they die. I mean try your best."

"Okay then, call ended."

"complete."

Carl stretched and glanced at the barbed wire. There shouldn't be any problem for the time being. It's not easy for something to go wrong. It's still early in the timeline.

Lori's belly is only seven or eight months old, so there's still plenty of time.

An afternoon passed by, neither quickly nor slowly, but it finally passed. At dusk around six o'clock, Sean walked out with the others.

Carl was waiting in advance according to the time and silently counted the number of people. Andrea on the sentry tower also came down when they came out.

So there are thirteen people in total, plus myself, there are fourteen of us, so when compared, there is only one less.

However, there were only four new faces. Karl raised his eyebrows slightly. If he remembered correctly, there should be five people in the prison.

Did the "black giant" still get his lunch box early as usual?
