The Villain Can't Catch A Break

Chapter 11: Onward, To Brahken

Adam knocked on the door to Henrietta's room.

"Have you packed everything you need?"

"Yes Young Master, I'm opening the door now."

As soon as she opened the door, our delusional maid was bewildered by what she saw.

The voice she had just heard was clearly of the young master, but the man in front of her, while looking similar to the young master, had a completely different aura to him.

It was then that she noticed,

'Madam Hannah's purple eyes.....'

The man in front of her looked as good as if not better than Madam Hannah.

'How can a man change so much in such a short amount of time?'

And so the deluded thoughts poured in.

'Well if it's Madam Hannah's son, obviously he can become much better in such a short time!'

'It seems that even though Madam Hannah is one with the heavens, she still has time to bless this child of hers.'

'Maybe the Young Master awakened after being heartbroken by Lady Cassandra for the 175th time! Yes! That must be what happened.'

It seemed as though an invisible force was urging Henrietta to accept the new reality that was in front of her, the new and improved Adam, as something that had naturally occurred.

Her conscience chose to give up and accept the will of that force, in turn, making it so that Henrietta didn't question for a second how such drastic changes could happen to a person in such a short period of time.

"Young Master, you awakened didn't you?" said Henrietta, as she regained her composure.

"Something like that," replied Adam.

It was well within Adam's calculations that after seeing the drastic change in appearance that took place after gaining the new class, as well as his mother's family's signature eyes, people were bound to suspect something big had changed.

Luckily, there was a plausible and easy explanation for it, 'Awakening'.

Awakening is a process in which a person becomes enlightened after a harsh situation or under a lot of stress.

There are exceptional cases as well where someone awakened while sleeping.

Those cases are few and far between, the most common cases take place during or after high-stress situations.

If Adam were to act like his heartbreak from Cassandra had caused an Awakening within him, that's as good of a reason as it gets.

"If you're ready to leave, come it's time to go."

After they both were ready, Adam made his way to the garage to pick up his ride of choice for this long journey.

It was the luxurious 500k model of the Mcars brand. It wasn't a car made for racing, it was a grand touring car. Adam chose it because of how classical and easy on the eyes its body was.

Adam drove the car out of the estate, as he drove through the highway with his beautiful maid right beside him.

The vehicle had an open roof. Adam chose it specifically because of that, he felt the air as it teased his skin, his hair dancing to the melody that the winds played as he ventured towards his destination.

He turned his head to look at his travel companion, she was admiring the scenery with a bright smile on her face, a stark contrast from when he saw her for the first time after coming to this world.

Even though it hadn't even been a week in his new life, he could already see the positive impact it had on this world.

Adam's happy thoughts didn't last for long.

|| DUE TO YOUR BAD LUCK, THE MANA CORE POWERING YOUR VEHICLE'S ENGINE SEEMS TO HAVE BECOME UNSTABLE AND WILL BLOW UP IF THE ENGINE ISN'T COOLED DOWN AFTER EVERY 1 HOUR OF USE. ||

It seemed like living in this world and frequent migraines went hand in hand.

Adam stopped the car, went behind it, and just started pushing it forward.

'What's the point of having superhuman strength if you're not going to use it?

'System, allocate all my stats into agility.'

Adam now had 74 agility.

"Henrietta, keep the steering wheel straight."

Henrietta turned towards her master behind her with a confused look, then she finally realised what he planned to do.

After Henrietta grabbed the steering wheel, Adam started pushing the car, after he got used to it he started running while pushing it.

After about 5 minutes of pushing the car like this, Adam seemed to not feel too tired, he felt like he could do it for another half an hour.

Funnily enough, the car was going faster with Adam pushing it.

Adam thought back to a road trip he went on with his friends in his past life.

They were traveling a distance of 1500kms in just 1 day in a run-down car that wouldn't start up whenever they stopped to refill the tank at petrol pumps.

He remembered how he had to push the car for over a kilometer on the highway every time they refilled their tank because the car just wouldn't start after it stopped.

If only he had this strength and speed back then, the entire experience of that road trip would have been much different.

But, there was no use crying over spilled milk, it was time to look forward.

For the rest of the journey, Adam didn't even turn on the car's engine even once.

He just pushed the car the entire way by himself, taking breaks in between. He had more than enough power to push the car, his beefed-up agility stat allowed him to go faster than this car's top speed. The only issue was his vitality stat which measured a person's stamina.

Adam repeated these motions again and again until he reached his destination, Brahken.

A metropolitan city, the capital of the domain that was ruled by Duke Ivrea Arlae.

The city had a very unique structure providing a sense of convoluted verticality to it. There was a metro system that ran through the city above ground and underground using mana rails for the easy travel of commoners, to and from their place of work.

Trains connected every territory of every lord in the empire, warp gates existed in every city as well but they were too expensive for the commoners to use, only being used by the rich citizens of the empire.

Adam was too poor for a warp gate and too much of a hater of big crowds to go in the train, a road trip was the best alternative for him.

Before entering the city gates, Adam chose to ditch the car since he didn't have a driver's license as he was only 16 years old.

In the Empire, only individuals over 18 could apply for a driver's license.

While Adam could easily take care of the guards at the front gate, he didn't want any attention drawn towards him. At least not yet.

Adam came to this city because he wanted to take 2 hidden pieces that were in this city and to do side quests until he hit level 10 to regain stat points for a rainy day.

Adam didn't regret spending all of his stat points on agility. This was a part of his plan for the entrance exam all along.

After giving their identity information to the guards at the city gates, Adam and Henrietta went towards a 3-star hotel.

As soon as he entered the lobby, all eyes moved towards him.

It was as if a celebrity had entered their building.

Adam's attire, demeanor, and temperament all looked extremely out of place in here.

Adam ignored all the gazes, he believed that they were all staring at him because nobody moves around with a maid constantly behind them unless they are of a noble lineage.

Little did he know, it was all thanks to the synergy between [MONARCH'S AESTHETICA] and [ENCHANTING EYES].

Adam made his way to the reception and said to the female receptionist, "A room for two for 20 days."

"Umm sir, are you two dating?" said the receptionist while pointing toward Henrietta.

It was a path of inquiry that he truly didn't expect from the receptionist. Normally, when a customer would tell them about how long they wish to stay, the receptionist would reply with the total cost of their stay.

'I guess this is the difference between game and reality.'

Adam had to remind himself, this wasn't a game anymore. He was in the real world now.

While he thought about this he could hear some barely audible mumbling from Henrietta that he couldn't make out.

"M.. m.. me and the Young Master dating?????? N...n...No, how could that happen??? There is no way the Young Master would choose a lowly woman like me...." mumbled Henrietta, she could feel her cheeks getting warmer and turning red as a reaction to what the receptionist had said.

Thankfully Adam didn't hear what she had said. There were no walls near Adam right now. If Adam had heard what she had said then instead of a wall, Adam would have had to bury his head in the ground instead.

"No, we aren't dating, she is just a dear companion of mine."

'I... I'm dear to the Young Master????? Doesn't the Count also call that woman Brianna as his dear wife???? Does the Young Master want to make me his wife?'

As always, Adam's nonchalant words only acted as fuel to the generator that was our beloved maid's delusional brain.

Whether it was Adam himself or his womanizer trait at play, nobody could tell.

"Sir, what's your name?" asked the receptionist.

"You can put the room under the name Adam."

Adam chose not to give his full name, he didn't want to draw attention to himself any more than he already did.

"Please tell me your mana contact ID?"

"I do not own a mana phone and hence do not have a mana contact I'd."

"What's your favorite type of food to eat?"

"I like to eat food that's savoury, with extra spice in it."

"What type of alcoholic beverage is your favorite, sir?"

"I'm a simple man, gin is good enough for me at any day of the week."

While the weirdly long line of questioning went on and on, the line of customers looking to get a room got longer and longer as well.

After a while, the customers started to make a ruckus due to how long it was taking just to check in one customer.

The ruckus got so loud that it started to annoy Adam who was already getting annoyed with this ridiculously long line of questioning from the receptionist.

"What's your size?"

"My size of what?"

"How do you go to sleep? Are you a silent sleeper or are you a snorer?"

"Excuse me, I don't see what the way I sleep has to do with me getting a room in this hotel.

Can you tell me how much my room costs already?"

Unable to bear with the chaos that was ensuing with the angry and impatient customers and his female partner who was so enamored by the albino-haired man in front of her that she had completely forgotten about doing her job, the male receptionist chose to push her away and send the man who looked like the incarnation of the god of beauty to his room.

"Sir I'm so sorry for the inconvenience my colleague has caused you, please tell me how long you wish to stay."

The gentle smile that Adam had on his face when he first entered this room was long gone. His gaze only represented one emotion, anger.

"A room for 2 for 20 days."

"That would be 40 silver sir"

After giving the male receptionist the money, Adam asked, " Is it normal for the workers of this establishment to waste the customer's time like that woman just now?"

The receptionist tilted his head in confusion looked at the man in front of him and said, "Sir, do you really not know why she asked you all those questions?"

"No I don't, does your hotel have a tie-up with an information guild and this is how you people gain information?"

"Sir, the reason why she was asking you all those questions was because she was attracted to you."

What Adam had just heard made him furrow his brows and increased his anger further.

"Tell that woman, if she wishes to court a man in the future, the first thing that comes out of her mouth isn't a job interview."

After saying that, Adam took his room key, grabbed Henrietta by her arm and took her with him to their room.

The male receptionist went back to his post since there were a lot of customers to deal with.

Adam thought back to his previous interaction with the receptionists, he blamed his horrible luck stat for the tedious and time wasting interaction he had just experienced.

As he entered the room, he snapped his fingers bringing Henrietta out of her daze that she had been in since Adam's 'dear' comment.

The reason why Henrietta was completely unresponsive during that entire interaction with the receptionist was because she was too busy in her own mental world to pay attention to the brazen way, the female receptionist from a third-rate hotel was hitting on her Young Master.

"Henrietta, freshen up and take rest on the bed, it's been a long journey."

"Young Master, how could I sleep on the bed while you sleep on the floor? You should sleep on the bed while I sleep on the floor instead. It's only natural for me to do so as your servant."

"What do you mean you will sleep on the floor? Both of us are sleeping on the bed."

"Young Master..... Is it really okay for me to sleep in the same bed as you?"

'Isn't the Young Master taking things a little too fast?? I mean I know he has changed a lot and he looks really hot and he has become so dependable but things are going a little to fast for me.'

"Ofcourse, it's okay for you, you're literally my only servant. I'm going to freshen up after you go and freshen up, quickly."

With a tinge of nervousness on her face Henrietta went to the bathroom to freshen up.

After she was done, Adam followed suit.

By the time he came back, he saw that Henrietta had already fallen asleep.

He layed on the pillow right besides her and fell asleep as well.

Nothing happened between them that night, the notion of something always happening whenever a man and a woman went to sleep together is flawed.

If anyone wants proof of this, ask yourself.

Do you think something happens between your parents everytime they go to sleep together?

Nothing happens between them. They just go to sleep after a tiring day. Real life is much different from those netflix shows.

Unaware of the random monologue the narrator had been rambling about, Adam slept soundly.

After many trials and tribulations, the master and servant duo had found a place to rest in.
