The Unruly Immortals

Chapter 992 San Qing

Li Huowang, with his bangs covering his injured eye, sat on the stone pedestal at the entrance of the house, his brows furrowed as he gazed intently at the dense forest in the distance. His only good eye was unfocused, clearly deep in thought.

Only he knew what he was contemplating at that moment.

"Here." A can of soda was handed to Li Huowang, who took it with some surprise, noticing it was chilled.

"Where did you get this?" Li Huowang asked, taking a big gulp before handing it back to Yang Na.

"From the small shop. You wouldn't believe it; even in this rural area, there's a small shop. Though it looks basic, it has a bit of everything," Yang Na said smugly, holding the can with both hands and taking a tiny sip.

She turned her head slightly to gaze at Li Huowang's somber face, offering comfort in a soft voice, "Don't worry, we can win. After all, we are the Fate Commanders controlling the Heavenly Dao now."

"Last time, Fusheng Heaven sent so many people, yet they suffered at our hands. This shows they may not be any match for us."

"We aren't at such a disadvantage. They lost so many Fate Commanders, yet only a few of us fell. Who will win is really yet to be seen."

Ever since she adopted Li Huowang's worldview, Yang Na had not exhibited any signs of depression. Her spirits seemed much lighter, and she was happy every day.

Though Yang Na tried to comfort him, Li Huowang's mood didn't improve much, especially when he recalled Qing Wanglai's words before leaving.

Regarding the Oblivion Path's words, neither fully believing nor disbelieving them is wise. It's likely that truth and lies are intertwined in those words, and he had to discern which parts were truthful and which were deceitful.

In addition to this, the lurking external threats made the next moves of San Qing even more concerning.

Essentially, he was already an enemy. An enemy is not frightening; a familiar enemy is terrifying, as they know some of your weaknesses.

"Stop overthinking it, come inside and eat. No matter what problems we face later, eating well provides us the strength to handle them. Let me tell you, the local free-range chicken here is delicious. I secretly ate a few pieces while helping in the kitchen."

Yang Na pulled Li Huowang into the house where an Eight Immortals table, capable of seating eight, was laid out with home-cooked dishes, with a pot of shiitake mushroom stewed chicken at the center.

The rich aroma wafting from it made Chen Hongyu, sitting nearby, gulp.

Yang Na was right; the stewed chicken indeed tasted exceptional. Picking up a piece with chopsticks to take a bite, the meat was tender yet had a slight chew to it, flavorful with sweet juices, increasingly tasty with each bite. Even the bones were aromatic, completely different from supermarket frozen chickens.

Swallowing down the chicken, Li Huowang picked up the chilled soda and took a big sip.

Feeling the fizz explode in his mouth with a tingling sensation, Li Huowang glanced around the table, searching diligently yet finding that someone very important to him was absent. "Where's Doctor Yi?"

Ba Nanxu took a piece of chicken neck with skin, stuffing it into his mouth and chewing both meat and bone. "He's still in the warehouse hypnotizing himself. Speaking of which, we must thank him; without him, we wouldn't have tasted such good food."

Sighing internally at Yi Donglai's extreme reaction, Li Huowang didn't want it this way, but time was truly running out. Facing Fusheng Heaven, he dared not be careless.

"Let's save some for him. I'll take it to him later, and have a proper chat." Li Huowang reached out with his chopsticks to pick up a piece of bamboo shoot.

Although Yi Donglai treated him once and he hadn't switched again, neither the doctor nor he as the patient could definitely confirm if he was healed.

He disliked this unstable feeling and needed a hundred percent certainty that Yi Donglai had cured him.

"He's a prisoner, give him other dishes. This chicken isn't enough for us." Chen Hongyu said, taking the pot of chicken and pouring the aromatic, rich chicken juice into her bowl of rice, planning to mix it, as this was the best way to eat.

Following each person grabbing with chopsticks, the pot of chicken was left with few pieces, soon to be empty.

Yang Na stood up, reached with her chopsticks to grab the last mid-wing, and put it in Li Huowang's bowl.

Upon sitting down and eating a few bites, she noticed Li Huowang sitting there stunned, his hand not reaching for the wing in his bowl.

"Huowang, why aren't you eating? Don't you like chicken wings the most?" Yang Na asked while biting her chopsticks.

"If you're not eating, give it to me." Chen Hongyu eagerly reached with her chopsticks towards Li Huowang's bowl.

At that moment, Yang Na saw Li Huowang's expression move from surprise to shock, and then to terror, as he started to lean back.

"San Qing!" Li Huowang suddenly rose, shouting passionately.

Taking advantage of Chen Hongyu's distraction, Zhao Lei reached with his chopsticks to snatch the wing.

"Qing Wanglai! What on earth are you up to!" Li Huowang's angry roar reverberated inside the house.

"Ugh, so noisy! We're eating! If you want to shout, do it outside!" Chen Hongyu grumbled, buried in her large bowl of rice mixed with chicken juices.

Li Huowang rapidly drew the military knife from his waist, his expression becoming fiercely obstinate. "You went back to White Jade Capital again? All of us are here! You dare return to White Jade Capital!"

After finishing, he raised the knife, ceaselessly swinging it towards the empty space in front.

"Li Huowang, there's nothing in front of you!" Wu Qi, holding a bowl, asked in bewilderment.

"Of course, there's nothing! Visibly unseen, named Yi; audibly unheard, named Xi; unattainable, named Wei! I've told you before, San Qing itself cannot be seen!!" Li Huowang finished, immediately rolling away.

Looking at others still seated at the dining table, Li Huowang felt frustration boiling within. This sort of occurrence was beyond their help; they couldn't perceive what was happening in the other world.

The only ones capable of influencing that world were himself and Yi Donglai.

Li Huowang never expected Qing Wanglai to be so sinister, seeing this side couldn't be overpowered, he chose a different angle to strike!

Though the experiences on both sides showed Yi Donglai's previous treatment was effective, such actions brought no joy now.

If the other side of himself was truly seized by San Qing, it equated to Ji Zai's body being partly possessed, creating colossal trouble!

Li Huowang's facial expression turned exceptionally ugly as he gazed at the empty White Jade Capital in front, while planning to fight desperately, Yang Na put down her chopsticks, drew a pair of handguns without hesitation, and fired at the empty space before Li Huowang.
