Chapter 991 White Jade Capital
The Nuoxi ahead continued to dance, and under the distortion of the few bonfires below, the bamboo frame swayed incessantly.
Seeing this scene, Li Huowang sighed with a hint of helplessness, shaking his head. Faced with the immense pressure from Fusheng Heaven, people here were evidently at their wits' end, trying anything whether it would work or not.
Da Nuo indeed had some believers in Huo Shu, with a wide audience, but hoping for a deranged Fate Commander to step in was ultimately unrealistic in terms of easygoing tolerance.
"Do they think it's useful just because they believe it is? Do they really think everyone is like Xinsu? So superstitious, let's go." After saying this, Li Huowang walked past the Astrological Bureau of Da Liang, leading Gao Zhijian towards the Imperial Temple of Da Liang.
Clad in a golden Dragon Robe, someone followed behind, and after some consideration, spoke to persuade him, "Brother Li, do you really intend to proceed like this? White Jade Capital is extraordinarily perilous; even with the protection of Dragon Qi, safety is not guaranteed."
"Then tell me, what options do we have left?" Li Huowang retorted.
"Should we just sit here idly, waiting for others to attack?" Li Huowang, with a heavy expression, looked up towards the sky, attempting to see beyond the heavens.
"Even in ordinary battles, scouts must be sent to gauge the situation, right?"
"Don't worry too much, at least the Fate Commander in White Jade Capital is on our side; they owe me a favor from the past."
Though some of his memories were lost, he hadn't forgotten the trouble with Fusheng Heaven.
Simply staying below and pondering strategies wouldn't do; he had to personally inspect White Jade Capital to see what exactly was going on there.
With the enemy and ally unclear, he at least had to ensure White Jade Capital hadn't split again, to ascertain how far they had progressed.
They couldn't just bury their heads in hard work while the enemy was already knocking at the door, oblivious to the current situation.
Moreover, within White Jade Capital, time had no concept; if they could find something from the future within, it would be all the better.
Understanding the situation, Gao Zhijian nodded knowingly, "Alright then, I wish Brother Li a safe journey; everything below will be handled by me and Sister Bai."
"Zhijian, I know you care about the Dragon Veins, but in matters like these, don't hesitate to use them. Fusheng Heaven also has Dragon Veins; as long as we win, we can have as many Dragon Veins as we want!"
Li Huowang paused for a moment before continuing, "Also, I suspect the Dragon Vein is part of the Heavenly Dao of order. If there is a Heavenly Dao of order, then it's very likely there is a Fate Commander governing it as well."
"If Fusheng Heaven's Dragon Veins can't be used, I assure you, I will find the Fate Commander of order, tear apart his Heavenly Dao, create a new Dragon Vein, and restore clarity to Da Qi, Da Liang, and Tianchen."
"Alright, Brother Li. I trust you, but additionally…" Here Gao Zhijian seemed hesitant, as if considering whether to disclose something to Li Huowang.
"What else? This is no time for hesitation." Li Huowang expressed his dissatisfaction with Gao Zhijian's hesitant demeanor.
Gao Zhijian chuckled softly and shook his head, "It's nothing, forget it; just some trivial matters. Right now, the matter of life and death is more crucial."
A frowning Li Huowang looked at him strangely and quickened his pace towards the Imperial Temple. "Speak up!"
"Brother Li, I just wanted to ask, am I considered a good Emperor nowadays?"
Li Huowang looked earnestly at him, pondering for a moment. "Yes."
Gao Zhijian was undoubtedly a good Emperor, a diligent and conscientious ruler. However, his past self was too naive, thinking that having a good Emperor would enable the people to live a good life under heaven.
"Good then, hahaha, I have not failed the trust Brother Li placed in me back then." Gao Zhijian burst into hearty laughter.
Soon his laughter turned into worry. "Brother Li, we are all relying on you now; you absolutely must not die."
"What nonsense, hurry up!" The displeased Li Huowang grabbed the Dragon Robe on him and yanked it hard, making the surroundings shift rapidly until they reached the front of the Imperial Temple of Da Liang.
The giant bronze tree still stood there, with the fourteen Dragon Veins hanging weakly, wailing in despair; they hadn't been brought down since last time.
As Li Huowang rubbed his wrist, two additional arms extended from under his armpits, executing incantations and seals, he began to perform the Dragon-Slaying and Immortal-Executing Formation previously taught by Xuan Pin.
With the Dragon Qi being drawn once more from the Dragon Veins, it was evident how those semi-human semi-dragon Dragon Veins appeared noticeably weaker.
Feeling the Dragon Qi enveloping him, the veins on Li Huowang's forehead bulged as he glanced to his side, spotting Peng Longteng's body.
The slender Giant Halberd rested on his shoulder, using his neck as a fulcrum, forcefully flinging Li Huowang into the sky at incredible speed.
Passing through the clouds, then through the stars, as Li Huowang moved through the twisted, mutated creatures, he once again arrived at the massive Mao's Gate.
Taking a deep breath, Li Huowang looked at the chaotic scene within the gigantic jade gate and dove directly in.
Inside White Jade Capital, it was hard to describe whether it was dark or bright, but the only sensation Li Huowang could immediately feel was the quietness and emptiness.
A place where it was unclear which way was up or down, where there was no concept of time. It was truly too silent.
Seeing this, Li Huowang's heart sank instantly, "What's going on? Where are the other Fate Commanders?"
To test his conjecture, Li Huowang extended a finger and gently slid it across his forearm; the sharp nail easily slit the skin, with the blood from the wound gradually floating outward in spheres.
Although injured, there was no pain to speak of; while other things were uncertain, at least Bahu and Goushen, who governed pain, were absent.
As Li Huowang wiped his hand over the wound, it closed up like a zipper.
He began to move his hands, attempting to navigate within White Jade Capital to uncover what exactly was happening.
Li Huowang's body started to glow constantly, utilizing his cultivation abilities to advance.
However, scarcely half a stick of incense later, Li Huowang came to a halt, as without reference points around, he couldn't even discern whether he was advancing or retreating.
"What is going on? What on earth is happening?" This inexplicable environment began to make Li Huowang feel uneasy.
"Ji Zai! Ji Zai!!" Li Huowang shouted frantically around him.
Yet, unexpectedly, his calls received a response; something was coming.
Though Li Huowang couldn't see it, he inexplicably sensed its presence.
"Who?" No sooner had Li Huowang spoken than the sensation of wisps of hair brushed over his head.
Li Huowang slowly tilted his head upward, looking at the empty space above him, a chill swiftly shooting from his tailbone along his spine straight to his brain. "San Qing!"
