The Unruly Immortals

Chapter 893 On the Road

That night, Li Huowang lay fully dressed on the bed, waiting for the other party to arrive.

Just as Li Huowang saw the clock on the wall hit twelve, a piercing metallic scraping sound rang out as someone opened the steel factory doors.

When he took his belongings and walked out of the steel factory, he saw two off-road vehicles parked there, the high beams making it hard for him to keep his eyes open.

"Get in the car." Zhao Shuangdian's voice rang out from behind the blinding white light.

As Li Huowang walked to the car door, he saw not only Zhao Shuangdian and the siblings with the surname Ba but also two men and one woman who were strangers.

After glancing at them, Li Huowang opened the back door and sat inside, but as soon as he sat down, he felt something on the seat.

He reached out to touch it and found two military daggers sheathed in scabbards.

After pulling out the scabbards, Li Huowang discovered they were his own, with the bloodstains still uncleaned.

"Thanks." Li Huowang said to Zhao Shuangdian, who was in the front passenger seat.

The sound of the engine suddenly roared, and the off-road vehicle headed towards the airport.

"You're welcome, the lips perish so do the teeth. Just remember, we are always on the same side; I won't harm you."

Li Huowang picked up the dual daggers and slid them behind his back, "It would be better if there were bulletproof vests."

At these words, Zhao Shuangdian didn't respond, instead, she gently rubbed her forehead, her delicate brows furrowed as if she were contemplating something.

Li Huowang cast his gaze toward the other three people: the man driving had a rugged expression with a scruffy beard; it was just past New Year, and he was wearing a short-sleeve, showing no signs of coldness.

The man beside Li Huowang had a stern expression, was tall and thin, and his agile fingers kept flipping a coin.

As for the last one, it was a girl, thin and wearing glasses, appearing delicate, except her face would twitch from time to time for unknown reasons.

Li Huowang scrutinized them carefully, pondering their identities as Fate Commanders, "That bearded man has a vibe akin to the Military Prime Minister Fate Commander."

"Don't you find staring at others so disrespectful?" The gloomy-faced man turned his gaze from the window towards Li Huowang.

"Li Huowang." Li Huowang extended his hand to him, but the other person didn't take it.

"I know you're Li Huowang; you're so famous, who doesn't know who Li Huowang is?" The man spoke slowly, then turned his gaze back outside.

Seeing their lukewarm demeanor, Li Huowang was not bothered to engage with them, continuing to ask Zhao Shuangdian: "Is it just us then? Seems a bit few, isn't it suicide to rush into another elephant's place like this?"

"Don't worry, there are more people meeting us at the airport." Zhao Shuangdian replied as she closed her eyes.

"How confident are you about this operation?"

"Sixty percent."

"Only sixty percent?" Li Huowang thought about the fate of Qian Fu, who had died earlier, proving what happens with forty percent.

"Don't expect anything to be perfect; if it is, it's definitely someone else's trap."

This thought made Li Huowang's heart sink, hoping the other group at the airport would be more reliable.

"Put on the latex mask, heading to the airport with Li Huowang's face is no different than walking right into the door." The gloomy-faced man tossed a latex head into Li Huowang's hands.

Five hours later, they finally arrived at another city's airport, and by now dawn had already begun to break.

When Li Huowang entered the waiting room with his new face, a few unexpected individuals appeared before him.

Qing Wanglai, dressed in a suit, extended his hand for a gentle shake with Zhao Shuangdian. "The journey must have been tiring."

Behind him, seated haphazardly on chairs, were Zhao Lei, Chen Hongyu, Wu Qi.

"Them?! Are these the helpers you mentioned?" Li Huowang looked at his former companions in shock.

"Why else? Are there other options? Not many people clearly understand their current situation now."

The two groups merged together, gradually leaving Li Huowang, who was frozen in place, behind.

By dawn, as the first rays of sunlight emerged, Li Huowang and the others' plane breached the clouds.

Sitting in his seat, Li Huowang had come to terms with once again allying with Qing Wanglai.

Though Qing Wanglai was a treacherous individual, a past issue with Nana couldn't be blamed on him.

Also given they were all acquaintances, despite not being good people, knowing him well was surely better than dealing with mysterious strangers.

Qing Wanglai sat beside Li Huowang, extending his hand to him, "I never imagined you'd end up on Zhao Shuangdian's ship."

"I had no choice; the last time, the person I followed was too unreliable, had to switch."

However, not sure if Qing Wanglai understood Li Huowang's sarcasm, he pleasantly replied, "Really? That's good then; I thought you subscribed to her theory."

Taking a glance at Zhao Shuangdian, already masked and catching up on sleep, Li Huowang asked Qing Wanglai, "I don't believe in her elephant theory; I think your projection theory is more realistic."

"Oh?! Is it?"

Li Huowang bit his teeth and glared fiercely at Qing Wanglai. "Of course, it's nonsense! What does your ridiculous theories have to do with me!"

"I just want to completely resolve the troubles! Prevent past events from repeating! I don't want to be labeled a lunatic anymore!"

After pondering for a while, Qing Wanglai spoke to Li Huowang, "Perhaps you don't believe it, but I still must explain, I truly haven't abandoned you."

"If this crisis can be safely overcome, I'll help restore your freedom."

"Hah." Li Huowang turned away, expressing disbelief. "Sounds nice, I'm now wanted online everywhere! Tell me, how will you restore my freedom!"

"Once you return to the country, surrender immediately."

After hearing this, Li Huowang gave him a look as if seeing an idiot.

"Don't rush, that's just the first step, you're mentally ill. No matter how many times you broke out of prison, the final punishment will be confined in a mental institution."

"Once you're inside to cool off for a while, I can buy a mental institution, figure out a way to transfer you to mine, then it'll be much easier to decide what to do."

"Haha, Boss Qing, such grand gestures, buying an entire mental institution just for me, truly touched."

Seeing Li Huowang still unwilling to trust him, Qing Wanglai remained silent, getting up to sit next to Zhao Shuangdian, softly whispering to her as she slept.

After staying up all night, Li Huowang was preparing to rest and gather energy for what's to come.

However, just as he was about to close his eyes, his peripheral vision caught a small white dot under the front seat.

Li Huowang frowned and bent down to retrieve it. As he held it up with two fingers before him, his pupils contracted slightly. "Dice?"

Quickly glancing at the others and finding them seemingly normal, Li Huowang quietly asked the white dice in his hand, "Why are you here? In a battle between Fate Commanders, do you really think you're qualified to intervene?"
