The Unruly Immortals

Chapter 335 Collapse

"Master Xin Chi, are you certain you haven't made a mistake this time?"

Perhaps the Astrological Bureau could kill the innocent just to get the job done, but Li Huowang could never get over that hurdle in his heart.

As soon as Li Huowang's words were spoken, the little girl who had been praying to Buddha shrank her body, leaving only a set of clothes in her place.

"Er Jiu! Why don't you listen to the poor monk's words?" Li Huowang sneered at the sight of Xin Chi, who now looked as fierce as a wrathful Buddha.

He walked over to the pile of clothing with his knife, forcefully stabbing it into the yellow meditation cushion, accompanied by a whimper like that of a puppy, as bright red blood gushed continuously from the cushion.

The thing that had just attacked them hadn't left; it had merely shrunk its body to an extremely small, flat size and hidden inside the cushion.

"Master Xin Chi, if you were always this accurate, I wouldn't have to make my own guesses," said Li Huowang.

He also didn't want to be used as a pawn by others, especially when the other party was such a detestable being.

Noticing the tense atmosphere between the two, Record of Appearance immediately intervened.

"Enough! Our boss isn't dead yet! All you kids behave yourselves! Don't forget what we've come here to do!"

Although Record of Appearance always looked amiable and easy-going, neither Li Huowang nor Xin Chi thought he was a pushover. Seeing him speak up, they said no more.

Time ticked by, and they had already spent half an hour turning around in the Buddha Bone Temple, but apart from the ambush they had encountered earlier, they had found nothing.

It was unclear whether Oblivion Path had left early or was deliberately hiding from them.

Even though so much time had passed, Record of Appearance, as the leader, was not in a rush at all; instead, his eyes were getting brighter and brighter.

This further confirmed Li Huowang's previous suspicion that Record of Appearance had come to the Buddha Bone Temple with another purpose in mind.

Just as they entered another Buddha Hall filled with mummies, suddenly, Record of Appearance's expression turned to one of ecstasy.

As his fingers moved faster over the abacus, creating afterimages and little sparks begin to emerge from it.

"Quickly, come here!"

Record of Appearance stepped on the marble floor in a certain pattern, and after circling in a highly complex manner three times, a painted image of a Bodhisattva meditating on a column eerily moved on its own.

Seeing this, Li Huowang became even more convinced and said resolutely, "I wasn't wrong in my guess! Record of Appearance is here to find something! The so-called cleanup of Oblivion Path is just by the way!"

Then, the Buddha portrayed on the column aged rapidly, withering within moments into a mummy.

The mummy's hands reached into its ribs and slowly pried open its own abdomen.

However, as Record of Appearance, who had been looking expectantly at the mummy painting on the column, raised his head, he froze.

The belly of the painting was empty, void of anything.

"Where is Heart Turbidity? Has someone else beaten us here? But that shouldn't be possible; this place could only have been found by our group."

Heart Turbidity? Hearing this name with the character 'heart' in it, Li Huowang, as a Xinsu, was particularly sensitive.

"Could it be that there are others like Xinsu, human-shaped spiritual treasures of heaven and earth? If Xinsu represents confusion, what are their side effects?"

Just as he was about to ask Tuoba Danqing, standing beside him, a long, deep rumble made everyone raise their heads simultaneously to look at the beams above.

Before everyone could react, Hong Da, dressed as a beggar, suddenly spoke up, "Run! The hall is going to collapse!"

The moment after his words fell, a trembling sound followed, and the massive beams, along with thousands of pounds of tiles, crashed down heavily.

After a loud crash, dust billowed and enveloped everything.

"Ouch." That was Li Huowang's feeling, as right now his entire body was in pain.

A hazy fog made it impossible for him to see where he was. He tried to move, but his body felt like it weighed a thousand pounds, as if he were pinned down.

As he pondered how to extricate himself, accompanied by the sound of tumbling rubble, a burly figure emerged through the dust before him.

When that person lifted the main beam weighing a thousand pounds off of Li Huowang, Li finally felt that he could move.

He wriggled out from under the tiles, shook off the dust on his body, and turned to the person, saying, "Thank you, Tuoba brother."

Tuoba Danqing, equally covered in dust, put the roof beam down from his shoulder, "Hey, what are you talking about? We're brothers who have drunk and enjoyed life together. How could I stand by and watch you die?"

"Are you all right? Where are the others? The temple collapsed, it must be the doing of Oblivion Path." Tuoba Danqing was also patting the dust off his body.

Li Huowang nodded, "Who can say otherwise," he said as he stealthily moved a few inches away from Tuoba Danqing, always keeping his face towards him.

While the two were talking, noise arose from the distant fog, and an extremely tall figure walked out from inside—it was Xin Chi Monk.

The moment he saw the two standing together, his expression turned grave instantly, and his thick fingers pointed sharply at Li Huowang.

The very next moment, Tuoba Danqing, as if he heard something by his ear, retreated repeatedly, quickly creating distance from him.

Suddenly the three of them stood in a triangle formation, with Xin Chi Monk and Tuoba Danqing now eyeing Li Huowang as if they were predators.

Under this circumstance, Li Huowang immediately deduced that Xin Chi Monk must have used telepathy to say something to Tuoba Danqing.

Just as they were preparing to attack, Li Huowang looked at Tuoba Danqing and said, "Tuoba brother, you may suspect that I am from Oblivion Path, but why don't you suspect that this Xin Chi is fake?"

"Stop lying, would Oblivion Path know telepathy?" The previously enthusiastic Tuoba Danqing had clearly become extraordinarily cold.

"Why wouldn't Oblivion Path know telepathy? They steal every divine skill from others!" Li Huowang's face was unsightly as he drew his sword from behind.

"We've known all along that you'd try to sow discord among us, but the Record of Appearance had calculated that even if he learned telepathy, it would take half an hour, so he is real and you are fake."

Faced with false accusations, the fire in Li Huowang's heart could not be suppressed.

"He is clearly the fake one!" Just as Li Huowang pointed his sword directly at Xin Chi Monk, a familiar voice sounded beside his ear, it was the telepathy of the monk.

"Not so. I am real, and I know Er Jiu is real too, but right now my word is the truth. Whoever I say is fake, is fake."

"What?!" Li Huowang's pupils dilated to their extremities, staring in disbelief at Xin Chi Monk before him.

He had thought of many possibilities, but he had never considered that he would be ambushed by his own people upon coming here!

"You're starting an internal fight at this time? Have you gone mad? Just because I stood up to you earlier?"

After a slight smile curled up at the corners of his lips, Xin Chi Monk's expression quickly returned to one of indifference, "Indeed, I can be petty like that."

With that, he stomped his foot and charged at Li Huowang in unison with Tuoba Danqing.

"You madman!" Li Huowang roared, his guts nearly splitting with anger, decided in his heart, and drew his Purple Tassel Sword to rush towards Xin Chi.

As Li Huowang got closer, a glint of cold light pierced through the thin fog beside him, aimed directly at his neck.

It was a rusty short knife held by the loan shark, Hong Da.

Li Huowang was being attacked from three sides and found himself in an extremely passive situation.

"What in the world is this?! Have they discovered my identity?! Is this a trap set just for me?"
