Chapter 169 Master Danyang
"Hahaha! So that's how it is, that's how it is indeed!"
Standing atop flesh and blood, Master Danyang, his mouth agape, laughed maniacally, and at that moment he finally understood.
He had thoroughly grasped what the senior of boundless longevity had told him outside the heavens about severing the three corpses; he had always thought that he had to transform Li Huowang into three corpses and then slay them, but he had misunderstood.
Those who seek immortality must first sever the three corpses, becoming tranquil and desireless, their spirit serene and their nature clear.
It turns out there was never any Li Huowang at all; Li Huowang was a part of his past self, his own Heart Demon, one of his three corpses.
It was the part of him tainted with mortal qi that had always been obstructing his path to becoming an Immortal, and now that he had fully become himself, this signified that this one corpse had been cut down.
That time he took medicine before seems to have been when another corpse was severed, which is precisely why he had become a Demi Immortal.
Feeling extremely delighted, he laughed as he lifted his sword and massacred the remaining people. When he felt happy, he wanted to kill.
There was still one last corpse he didn't know where to sever, but Master Danyang had a premonition that he could already pass through the South Heaven's Gate.
The others in the cave were no match for Master Danyang; soon, apart from him, there were no other living people left inside the entire cavern.
Master Danyang, having ceased his killing, looked down at his young body and could not help but let out a laugh, overwhelmed with joy as he said, "Hehe! Taoist Master I am finally going to become a True Immortal!"
In his laughter, the monk illusion beside him vanished with a bewildered face.
However, Master Danyang didn't laugh for long; he suppressed the joy in his heart, as it was not yet the time to be happy.
Without the maintenance of Leap Place Five Elements, the broken body devoid of internal organs that Master Danyang inhabited was about to collapse.
He couldn't die now, not before merging with his original body.
"Hmph! A mere Heart Demon thinking it can ruin my chance to become an Immortal? Taoist Master I am now an Immortal!"
Master Danyang quickly took out a bell from his chest and began to ring it, causing all his surroundings to descend into chaos; several Taoist Bells swiftly appeared before him.
"Zōu hāng hō! Zhēn zhǎng fāng! Fāng jiān chá zhēn jiàng!"
After Master Danyang, full of himself, gave instructions to the Taoist Bells, they rapidly flew away.
When they returned, they brought not only a Cinnabar Brush and yellow paper but also a piece of wood, a clump of earth, a torch, a jug of water, and a Gold Ingot.
The staggering Master Danyang turned his head and selected from the ground the corpses with the destinies of water, fire, earth, wood, and metal, one each, and beheaded them with his Longsword.
He pried open the mouth of one head and stuffed in the Gold Ingot, then immediately sealed the mouth with yellow paper and, holding the Cinnabar Brush with one hand as if clutching a fist, began to rapidly draw on the yellow paper.
As he finished the final stroke, the head issued a creaking sound and began to shrink and wriggle until its skin, hair, and features had fallen off and the head had shrunk by half.
Master Danyang picked up the head and shoved it into his chest with a push and a pull.
Following the same method, the remaining four heads burrowed into Li Huowang's hollow chest, taking the places of the original organs.
Once the last head took the heart's place, Master Danyang nodded in satisfaction, for the Evil Method he had stolen from the Lion Dance Palace, albeit unsustainable for long, would serve him for just a moment.
The self-satisfied Master Danyang took out the Heavenly Book once more, looking at it with a touch of sentimentality, even though he could not recognize a single character on it, but it was what had led him to become an Immortal.
"I wonder if I will still encounter that Immortal once I pass the South Heaven's Gate. If I do, I must express my profound gratitude," he thought.
It was only with his help that I was able to enter the Southern Heaven's Gate and become as eternal as heaven and earth.
"What a fucking waste!"
The sudden curse left Master Danyang's expression frozen as he quickly turned his head towards the source of the sound, but the surroundings were empty, and there was no movement.
"Who's there! Come out, and if I'm in a good mood, I'll leave your corpse intact!" Master Danyang's angry voice echoed through the cave, yet there was no response.
With an expression filled with malice, Master Danyang huffed and picked up the Heavenly Book before walking toward the entrance of the cave.
This cave was oddly strange, and the God of Happiness he encountered before was no easy deal; it was not wise to stay here long.
It was better to leave this place and find a quiet spot to wait for the return of his true form.
No matter who it was, as long as I became a True Immortal in the end, everything in the Mortal World would be as insignificant as ants!
When Master Danyang walked back to the battlefield from inside, he found that it was eerily quiet outside.
There was not a single living person left in the entire cavern; everyone was dead, and the entire Ao Jing Sect stronghold in these mountains had been completely annihilated.
"Leper! You think you can become an Immortal? You, this damn thing, are not worthy!!"
With a "whoosh," the longsword thrown by Master Danyang fiercely stabbed into the hard cavern wall, quivering with a buzzing sound.
This time, Master Danyang could no longer sit still. "Ring, ring, ring!!" The shrill sound of bells filled the air, and Taoist Bell whirled around Master Danyang.
At his command, Taoist Bell began to frantically search the surroundings, looking for the person who had spoken before.
But after searching for an incense stick's worth of time, the Taoist Bell, capable of soaring to the sky and burrowing into the ground, failed to find anyone, not even under the ground or within the walls.
"What exactly is going on? Could it be that the Oblivion Path has laid an ambush for me?" Master Danyang thought to himself, his expression changing uncertainly as he looked around the unfamiliar surroundings.
After two such events, Master Danyang was now careful not to let his guard down again. With a point of the Taoist Bell in his hand, the Taoist Bell swiftly flew out of the cave to seek his true form.
And I stood there holding the sword, waiting.
When two hours had passed, and Master Danyang heard some noise outside, he immediately turned his head with a surge of happiness in his heart.
However, what he saw walking in from outside the cave was not his true form but a very strangely dressed woman.
Having traveled north to south for so many years, he had seen a lot, but he had never seen a woman dressed like this anywhere.
Her clothes seemed to be made of silk, and under her arm, she carried a peculiar square box, with her hair up in a bun.
She looked to be in her forties, with a round face, big eyes, and short hair, looking a bit tired.
"Who is this person? Were those two shouts earlier from her? Coming here at such a crucial time, could she be an old enemy of mine?"
Just as Master Danyang was guessing wildly, he saw the woman smile apologetically at him.
"My dear son, I'm late because the hospital had some procedures to take care of. Your external injuries are mostly healed, so your dad and I have found you a new hospital."
No sooner had she spoken than Master Danyang saw the bright cavern around him quickly collapse and change color, a bright white rapidly filling the surroundings.
I, who should have been standing inside the cave, began to have things rapidly accumulate on me as well.
