The Unruly Immortals

Chapter 168: Success

The sudden turn of events caught everyone present off guard.

Master Danyang, having regained his freedom, did not hesitate and, like a fierce tiger descending the mountain, charged directly at the three people in the distance on a dark cloud.

Li Huowang, however, stood still on the spot, watching everything unfold in the distance as if he were watching a play.

Seeing Yi Wan pairs of eyes looking at himself in disbelief

Li Huowang immediately felt a face full of guilt, and slapped his hands together in frustration.

"Oh no! Look at this mess I've made, how could I have let Master Danyang escape without paying attention? I, the junior, lack experience and am truly sorry, I hope the seniors will forgive me," he said.

"You actually dared to deceive me!"

Hearing the other party utter such words, Li Huowang laughed out loud with a spurt of laughter.

"Now I'm beginning to understand why you folks of the Oblivion Path enjoy doing this so much, turns out tricking people is really fun! Hahaha!"

No matter what others thought, the situation began to develop into an irreversible direction.

And when one of the Oblivion Path practitioners' head was split in half by Master Danyang's sword,

suddenly three Gods of Happiness wormed their way out from within the smooth walls of the cavern.

Those three clumps of Chaos were thick and seemed to be pieced together from strings of rotten grapes, forming a translucent substance.

The moment they appeared, the onlooking members of the Ao Jing Sect could no longer escape, and all the mortals present rolled on the ground, laughing insanely,

Their laughter growing more terrifying as the moments passed, with blood flowing from their seven orifices, they died on the spot.

After the Gods of Happiness emerged, they paused briefly to acclimate, then immediately charged toward Master Danyang and Li Huowang.

With another party added, the scene became even more chaotic.

But Li Huowang couldn't be bothered to move any longer and, seeing Master Danyang dismember another Oblivion practitioner from afar, he felt that he had done what he wanted to do, and it was time to end it.

Suddenly, darkness loomed overhead, and Li Huowang was enveloped by a God of Happiness.

As layers of its body scraped over Li Huowang, he instantly felt that many things were being taken from him.

All emotions in his heart, the will to die, despair, and a trace of reluctance were cast away.

A "whirling" sound arose, and some dead worms slipped from Li Huowang's chest and landed powerlessly on the ground.

Dully watching those dead worms, Li Huowang understood that the time of Leap Place Five Elements was almost up.

Overhead, a continuous clicking noise could be heard; the God of Happiness's next assault was imminent, and if nothing unexpected happened, it would be his time to die.

But Li Huowang also did not plan to dodge any further; without these worms and having lost his internal organs, he was destined to die, sooner or later.

However, this was also good, as Master Danyang's plan of body-snatching had utterly failed.

"Ah, I'm so tired, I can rest now," he sighed.

The wind blowing overhead caused Li Huowang's hem to sway continuously; he slowly closed his eyes, welcoming his ultimate end.

"Scram!" boomed a voice like thunder, and Li Huowang, puzzled, looked up to see the back of Master Danyang, his body enveloped in misshapen flesh.

Surrounded by dark clouds, he hovered over Li Huowang's head, firmly resisting the God of Happiness; he was actually saving Li Huowang at this moment.

Scratching his chest, more dead worms slid off, falling to the ground as the lost sensation of pain gradually returned.

"Save what? Do you think by saving me, I can escape death?" Li Huowang remarked.

After saying this, Li Huowang stood bored, watching the drama unfold.

As expected, Master Danyang's fate did not look good, since he could see the other two Gods of Happiness were also approaching.

While Li Huowang stood in place, planning to use the time before his death to watch Master Danyang being tormented, he suddenly remembered something and turned his head to look in the direction of the earlier Oblivion practitioners.

Scattered haphazardly on the ground lay bodies, everyone else had died, but there was one exception.

A man with a square head, clinging to his own stomach, stumbled along the cave, rushing forward.

"Damn! One actually got away!"

Oblivion Path had not been wiped out, a situation more unbearable than his own survival, something Li Huowang could not tolerate.

Just moments ago, filled with intent to die, Li Huowang suddenly surged with vitality as if rejuvenated, charging toward that last survivor of the Oblivion Path.

That Oblivion disciple seemed to have been injured during the fight with Master Danyang, moving rather slowly.

Li Huowang wasn't moving quickly either, because the sensation of pain had returned. With every step, his increasingly hollow body ached as if being pierced by needles, his body collapsing.

As one chased, the other fled suddenly, the Oblivion disciple turned a corner and just like that, disappeared from Li Huowang's sight.

When Li Huowang, dragging his collapsing body, walked past that corner with sword in hand, he was stunned by what he saw behind it.

This turned out to be a dead end, where several women clutching their children, huddled in the farthest corner, shivering.

These people must be the families of the Ao Jing Sect followers, who had been hidden here to escape danger.

The previously fleeing Oblivion disciple seemed to have disguised himself and was hiding among them.

Bent over, Li Huowang staggered toward them, his sharp sword tip dragging on the ground slowly with an extremely grating noise.

And this sound, to those people, was like a death knell, provoking crying and screaming all around.

Li Huowang's gaze swept over each person, searching for the hiding Oblivion disciple.

But this was not an easy task; there were too many people.

With a "crash," Li Huowang's left hand collapsed, falling to the ground and scattering like broken red bamboo slips.

"No good, I'm running out of time, no time to look! If you won't come out, then I'll kill you all!!"

Li Huowang gritted his teeth, raising the sword in his hand towards the women and children in front of him.

"Wait!! Taoist, what are you doing!! They're all good people! They haven't done anything bad!" Suddenly, Monk Huan Jue on the side began to plead.

Hearing this, a flicker of hesitation appeared in Li Huowang's eyes, but then he suddenly gripped the sword hilt tightly and swung down forcefully.

Blood rained and wind howled amidst continuous cries and screams; Li Huowang's Taoist robe became even redder.

Watching the scene of utter inhumanity before him, the Monk cried urgently, hopping on the spot as if he wanted to rush over and stop it, but the Monk could not touch Li Huowang at all.

Amidst the blood and wind, a woman's body twisted, her face quickly changing to a new one, intending to flee amidst the chaos.

But before she could take a few steps, several worms flew out from the blood on the ground, burrowing into her body.

As she fell to the ground wailing, something pushed her flesh up high.

As her struggles ceased, with a "puchi," twisted red bamboo slips drilled out of her distorted face like a screw.

With that, the last Oblivion disciple also died; all six Oblivion disciples who had once deceived Li Huowang were dead.

Looking at Li Huowang, who had stopped his slaughter, the incredibly angry Monk fiercely tore off a piece of cloth from his sleeve and threw it to the ground.

Pointing at Li Huowang with trembling fingers, he shouted, "Taoist! I misjudged you! We are done!! The Li Huowang of old would never have done something like this!!"

Hearing this, an almost spent Li Huowang slowly raised his head to look at him.

As if realizing only afterwards, he suddenly had an epiphany.

First, he glanced down at his own battered body, then his expression suddenly turned to wild joy.

"Right! Li Huowang wouldn't do such a thing, but I would, Master Danyang would, haha! I, the Taoist Master, have succeeded!!"
