The Unruly Immortals

Chapter 123 Treatment

Shou San spoke with a remarkably calm tone as he said these words.

Li Huowang replied, "Fine! I'll trust you one more time! I don't want to see something like today happen again! Otherwise, if you push me too far, I'll just let Master Danyang take over my body and we can all go to hell together!"

Upon hearing Li Huowang's threat, a trace of displeasure appeared on Shou San's face.

Yet, with considerable wariness, he eyed the Taoist before him and ultimately showed no reaction.

Under the watchful eyes of the Ao Jing Sect followers, Li Huowang reached out and helped Yingzi up from the ground, pulling her along as they slowly made their way back.

After they left, Shou San turned his head toward a completely nondescript member of the Ao Jing Sect and asked in a hushed tone, "Elder Shen Benyou, you've seen it all. Don't you plan to do something?"

The mysterious and prominent Elder, mentioned by Yingzi, was actually present at the scene.

The person watched the direction Li Huowang had left in. "No, this Xinsu is different from the others. You've seen his abilities before. He's much more dangerous than the rest. Let's stabilize him first. I'll take my time to inspect him closely, then decide once I've figured him out."

"Yes, I understand," the subordinate responded.

Back inside the house, Li Huowang seemed to have exhausted all his strength and collapsed onto the ground.

Yingzi, missing an arm, hesitated there. When she saw the blood still flowing from Li Huowang's body, she cautiously approached him. "Benefactor, are you alright?"

"Ha ha... I'm fine, I won't die."

Hearing this, Yingzi's eyes hardened, and she walked toward a wax-wrapped book on the ground.

With one hand, she picked up the book, knelt before Li Huowang, and spoke softly, "Benefactor, bear with it for a moment. I am going to help you heal."

After she spoke, she lifted the book and began to chant something with a peculiar voice, as if imitating the crackling sound of fire with human vocal cords.

"Whoosh~!" The entire wax book in Yingzi's hand burst into flames.

The white wax melted by the fire wrapped around the flames and dripped directly into Li Huowang's wounds.

A sizzling sound rose, and Li Huowang once again smelled that familiar scent.

As Yingzi held the book above her head, the burning wax on Li Huowang's body seemed to come to life. It started to creep across his skin like a flaming slug.

As it crawled over him, white smoke rose from Li Huowang's body, leaving behind charred marks.

This was more than just stemming the blood flow. Burnt flesh stuck together, covering the deep, bone-deep wounds.

Crouched over, the creature had crawled all over Li Huowang's body, almost entirely covering his wounds.

However, the cost was Li Huowang experiencing doubled pain sensitivity. The pain nearly caused him to bite his own tongue off, and he was sweating so profusely it was as though he had been caught in the rain.

Yet it wasn't over, as the creature, looking like a fiery centipede, started to crawl up his skin toward his face. Li Huowang sharply inhaled and instinctively jerked his head back.

"Heh, this method of healing is really killing me."

After taking a few rapid breaths, Li Huowang steeled himself and opened his mouth.

He directly grabbed the fiery creature from his chest and shoved it into his mouth.

Next, Li Huowang felt what it was like to swallow a mouthful of magma.

He felt the molten mass slowly crawl down his throat toward his esophagus.

With continuous "sizzling" sounds, billows of white smoke drifted out of Li Huowang's mouth and nose.

Overcome by the extreme burning sensation, Li Huowang clutched his throat and rolled around on the ground in agony.

When Li Huowang felt that thing nearing his stomach, he shakily signaled to Yingzi beside him.

"Stomach... No need! There's something inside, the Fire Worm won't be able to overcome it!"

Although Yingzi didn't quite understand what Li Huowang meant, she followed his instructions nonetheless.

After the Fire Worm crawled out of Li Huowang's mouth, it didn't dissipate; instead, it climbed onto Yingzi and began burning her bony hand, which was all that remained.

A "clack" sounded as the bone of her hand fell weakly to the ground. Under the Fire Worm's embrace, the gap in her severed arm gradually began to heal.

Having completed its task, the Fire Worm crawled back onto the book, enveloping the book cover once again. As the flames dissipated, the wax swiftly solidified, and the book returned to its original state.

"Does it hurt?" Li Huowang asked, looking at Yingzi who was sweating profusely.

"How could it not hurt? But compared to the day my younger siblings died, this pain counts for nothing..."

Li Huowang's gaze dimmed a bit, then he nodded, "Yes, physical pain can be endured, but heartache truly cannot be."

Yingzi, now with only one arm, gave him a silent glance and said nothing, as she supported him and walked toward the bed.

Looking at the profile of Jiang Yingzi, Li Huowang really couldn't fathom what her intentions were.

Some of the things she did were very contradictory.

He then remembered what Shou San had said, "Who knows how much of what the other party said is believable, but since it's been said, they shouldn't make a move again, right?"

After the two lay down again, the injured Li Huowang fell asleep as soon as his head touched the pillow.

In his hazy sleep, Li Huowang dreamed a lot, so much so.

But when he woke up again, he could not remember anything.

When he opened his eyes, he saw Mantou excitedly circling around Yingzi, whining in a flattering manner.

"How did you get so close with it all of a sudden?" Li Huowang headed to the stone table and began to eat his breakfast with big bites.

With a complex expression, Yingzi watched Mantou and stroked its whitish paws.

"I remember now, it was the dog of someone in my neighborhood; the old dog had seven puppies that year, and this one was among them."

"I thought for sure it was dead too, but to think that it actually survived."

Watching Mantou excitedly licking Yingzi's hand, Li Huowang sighed softly.

"Such a large town, slaughtered until only one person and one dog are left, what a cursed world."

"Benefactor, why did he kill us? He is an Immortal with extensive Divine Skills, and in his eyes, we are less significant than ants. Was it simply because we were an eyesore to him?"

Yingzi's voice carried a tremble as she tried hard to suppress the emotions in her heart.

Li Huowang sighed softly, "Who knows why, the world is just like this, where the good do not live long and the wicked live a thousand years."

Li Huowang chatted with Yingzi off and on; their relation had grown a bit closer after the experience of the previous day.

"By the way, what's the name of the book you used to heal me?"

Li Huowang found that thing to be really quite useful, although the healing process was extremely painful, and horrifying scars remained where the Fire Worm had crawled.

Li Huowang found that, after a night's sleep, he had really almost completely recovered.

Yingzi took out the Wax-wrapped Book from her robe and handed it to Li Huowang with one hand. "The Fire Coat True Scripture, it's yours if you need it, Benefactor."
