Chapter 122: Who is it?
These intertwined iron nails looked like some sort of concealed weapon.
When Li Huowang saw these things being expelled from his mouth, he immediately realized that the "liquor-filled chocolates" he just ate were these objects.
He had just lifted his right hand when he suddenly felt a pain in his shoulder.
Li Huowang trembled as he looked at his arm and saw a wound that revealed chilling white bones.
That spot was exactly where Yang Na had struck him with her shoulder bag!
"Someone tried to kill me while I was trapped in an illusion!" Li Huowang instantly understood.
Enduring the pain, Li Huowang glared around with bloodshot eyes, only to find the rows of Ao Jing Sect followers, standing like tombstones, silently staring at him.
Li Huowang's expression turned ferocious as he reached behind with one hand, and the Great Thousand Record quickly unfolded on the ground, his blood continuously dripping onto the red bamboo slips.
With a "clang," Li Huowang drew his Longsword, pointing it at the surrounding Ao Jing Sect followers.
"What do you mean by this? Is this how you follow the rules? Do you really think I'm so weak that you can squash me as you please?" Li Huowang roared.
Li Huowang's voice echoed in the cave but failed to elicit a single question from anyone.
So the Ao Jing Sect followers still stood in place, observing Li Huowang with mocking curiosity and confusion.
Just as Li Huowang thought they were ready to face a desperate struggle with him, a teary Yingzi rushed out from the crowd, laboriously helping him up.
"My benefactor, let's go, let's leave quickly, don't look them in the eye," Jiang Yingzi urged urgently, addressing the blood-covered Li Huowang.
Li Huowang turned his gaze to Yingzi, his cold eyes saw no difference between her and the others.
He slowly poured several blood nourishing elixirs from the gourd at his waist into his mouth.
Supported by Yingzi, Li Huowang passed through the stares of the others and returned to his own cave.
The pain inside his body had not subsided, and Li Huowang obviously knew that having ingested those things, his stomach and esophagus must be in terrible condition.
However, he couldn't do anything at the moment but lie in bed, enduring the pain, waiting for his body, with its enhanced healing ability, to heal itself.
Once things quieted down, Li Huowang realized not only did he have internal injuries, but there were also knife wounds on his body, as if he had been slashed.
He recalled the illusions, which matched exactly with Yang Na hitting him with her bag.
Yingzi, standing beside him, struggled with her expression as she looked at Li Huowang's wounds and then pulled out a wax-wrapped book from her robe. "My benefactor, bear with it for a moment, I'll help you heal," she said.
Just as she was about to approach, Li Huowang's right hand swung out fiercely, sending the wax-wrapped book flying.
"Just now, only you were by my side, tell me, what exactly happened?"
Yingzi clasped her robe tightly with trembling hands, her demeanor one of extreme panic. "I... I can't say... they will kill me," she said.
Li Huowang looked at Yingzi, who had been hanging her head the whole time, and realized for the first time that he had never looked her in the eye since meeting her.
"Lift your head and look at me."
Hearing Li Huowang's words, Yingzi became even more nervous and apprehensive.
She kept her head down, her gaze dodging, never daring to meet Li Huowang's eyes.
"What exactly are you afraid of? Are you actually an undercover agent planted by those people by my side?"
"Was everything you said last night made up? What is the purpose of you masochistic evildoers?"
"It's not like that, not like this..." Yingzi's breathing was erratic, as if she was enduring something.
"If you're not with them, then who the hell hurt me? Speak up! Aren't you people all about rules? Is this how you follow them? Will you die if you don't commit evil?"
Upon hearing this, Yingzi's expression was one of extreme struggle, and she even bit her lips until they bled.
Just as she was about to say something, there was a knock at the door.
Li Huowang and Yingzi both turned their heads at the same time to see two towering figures, one in a black robe and the other in a white robe, standing silently like door gods at the entrance.
Yingzi, clearly more familiar with what these two giants signified, trembled as she walked towards the door.
"What's all this about? Not even putting on an act? Are we completely tearing our faces off now?"
Li Huowang closed his eyes again, attempting to recover as much as possible.
He couldn't let the wound get any worse, for if it did, Master Danyang would be forced to come out.
Suddenly, he felt something stir on his wound.
It wasn't until he opened his eyes that he realized it was Mantou.
Mantou, with its ears drooping, had crept over quietly and was gently licking Li Huowang's wound with its tongue.
"Mantou, oh Mantou, next time don't stay at home, just follow me. I really can't do without someone by my side," Li Huowang murmured as he stroked Mantou's head.
All of a sudden, Mantou's skinny body shrank abruptly, and its head turned to look towards the door.
After realizing there was nothing there, Mantou continued to lower its head, licking Li Huowang's wound.
Li Huowang also looked towards the door with a furrowed brow.
He understood what had just happened with Mantou; it had heard a scream.
Li Huowang, whose hearing had become much sharper, had also heard that faint sound, which seemed like a woman's scream.
Thinking of Yingzi who had been taken away earlier, it wasn't hard to guess whose scream it was.
A hint of hesitation appeared in Li Huowang's eyes, but eventually, he pressed down on the dog's back and, grinding his teeth against the severe pain, he stood up.
"Every damn day, it's one thing after another! Can't I just have a moment of peace?"
Staggering like a torn sack, Li Huowang slowly moved toward the outside.
The screams grew louder and louder until eventually, Li Huowang found them in a cavernous grotto echoing with the sound.
Two spiked hooks pierced through her Pipa bone, suspending the naked girl entirely in the air.
The tall white-robed follower of the Ao Jing Sect, who had garnered attention earlier, was now orbiting her with two blades thin as cicada wings, flying up and down.
"Whoosh—" Li Huowang's nail flew out, directly severing the chain holding Yingzi.
The girl, her body a blur of blood and flesh, fell heavily to the ground.
Li Huowang walked in front of her, blocking the view of others.
He then turned to Shou San, whose body was charred black, and questioned sharply, "How do people of your Ao Jing Sect manage to treat words like farts? I'm asking you, does our deal still stand or not?"
Shou San, seeing Li Huowang's unexpected appearance, was somewhat surprised, and then a playful look crossed his face.
"I still have to give face to the Master. Of course, our word is our bond, and the deal remains valid."
