The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 198: Never Take it Lightly

The ground below, battle raged like the surging tide.

Suddenly, a burst of white light appeared, and a group of mountains were pierced through by a horsetail whisk, thundering as they shook the earth.

"Clueless about life and death!"

Immortal Zhenyuan retracted his horsetail whisk and spoke.

The terrifying nature of what Emperor Yao described had Immortal Zhenyuan feeling like he was facing a formidable foe.

But when the Heavenly Soldiers charged at him, he found that they were not as formidable as he had feared—at least he was able to handle them.

The only problem was, the number of encroaching Heavenly Soldiers around him was increasing—

Immortal Zhenyuan shook his head and waited until the Heavenly Soldiers got close before suddenly swinging his horsetail whisk with ultimate strength, sweeping the soldiers into the surrounding mountains, causing rumbles and the land to split and mountains to crumble.

"To have Immortal Laws at disposal yet choosing to use the horsetail whisk as a cudgel, truly 'as iron is drawn to a magnet.'"

Emperor Yao's eyelid twitched a few times before the Heavy Sword in his hand blazed fiercely, slicing all the charging Heavenly Soldiers in twain.

The remnants of these Heavenly Soldiers scattered on the ground, their wounds smoldering with a spell flame.

But quickly, the spell flame extinguished.

The remnants of the Heavenly Soldiers rose again, restored to their previous state.

"This land can drain away our immortal power and infuse it into those Heavenly Soldiers."

Daji descended from the sky and said, "Our spells are about to lose their effect."

These Heavenly Soldiers possessed an undying trait, and they grew stronger with battle, becoming more and more dangerous.

"Everyone gather by my side."

Immortal Zhenyuan called out.

The crowd converged, and Emperor Yao asked, "Do you have a plan?"

"Quite simple."

With a wave of his hand, Immortal Zhenyuan performed the Sleeve Universe, and distant mountain ranges were moved to crush down on the Heavenly Soldiers around them.

"Let's go!"

He led the group to seize the gap and swiftly flew away.

Emperor Yao was momentarily stunned, then realizing the ingenuity, couldn't help but express his admiration: "Good idea."

The earth could absorb their strength, a prolonged battle would reduce even an Immortal to the weakness of a mortal.

In the blink of an eye, the group had flown hundreds of miles. Immortal Zhenyuan looked back to see that the marsh they had been in had returned to its original state, with mountains resettling and the Heavenly Soldiers in pursuit.

"What in the world is this place made of?"

Immortal Zhenyuan couldn't help but marvel.

This land was too mysterious, exceedingly resilient, withstanding even Sun Wukong's full-powered strikes without shattering.

Its regenerative power was shocking; the seemingly lifeless surface teemed with unparalleled vitality, instantly recovering even from massive damage.

"Each Star Palace has a Star Core, the crystallization condensed around the imperial stele."

Emperor Yao said, "They are the origin of life, and the vitality of this land might be stronger than that of hundreds of Three Realms combined."

"Crystallization around the imperial stele? Isn't that somewhat like the small worlds I created?"

Immortal Zhenyuan said in surprise, "Did the Undying simply create this world to snatch away others' strength?"

"I don't think so."

As they flew, Emperor Yao responded, "They too wish to recreate the Hongmeng, just like you all."

The world created by the Undying Emperor was evidently thousands of times stronger than that created by Immortal Zhenyuan, but this was not the Hongmeng World.

An impressive facade could not recreate the Hongmeng, the core within was far more crucial.

Emperor Yao and the others rapidly flew away, and along the way, they saw many Divine Power Creatures battling. Among them was a massive python that spanned the land for an unknowable distance, currently being attacked by myriad Demon Beasts, flayed and blood-drained.

Emperor Yao and the others' eyes twitched.

"Not the least bit beautiful."

Daji commented.

"Those Demon Beasts, just like the Heavenly Soldiers, are products of this world."

Seeing that Demon Beasts were flying towards them, Emperor Yao dared not take any chances and immediately advised everyone to avoid the python and fly westward.

"Boom!"

Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck down beside them, shattering a giant mountain to dust amid the roaring thunder, and nearby Heavenly Soldiers and Demon Beasts were also affected, their souls scattered and bones obliterated.

The immense light illuminated everything, staining the eyes of Emperor Yao and the others a golden hue.

"How terrifying."

This doomsday-like scene was the aftermath of the battle between Sun Wukong and the Undying Emperors.

The sky burned fiercely, and anyone caught by the falling ashes, unable to even struggle, would meet instant death.

The group frantically sought shelter behind a mountain.

"Just now you said your junior brother might lose, but I think it's not necessarily so."

After finding a temporary refuge, Immortal Zhenyuan said, "Right now, your junior brother is at his strongest."

Emperor Yao paused for a moment, then looked up to see a burning scroll unfurled in the sky.

"The Wanling Scroll."

Emperor Yao sensed the immense Heavenly Might emanating from it.

"If the Wanling Scroll is here, it means that the Wanling Heavenly Dao has truly reached the Brahma Void Heavenly Court."

Immortal Zhenyuan confidently stated, "The Wanling Heavenly Dao is a path created single-handedly by your junior brother. As long as it takes root in the Heavenly Court, your junior brother will be invincible here."

Emperor Yao watched for a long while, his expression growing more solemn: "I'm afraid this is also what the Undying Emperors hope to see."

"They wish to see the Heavenly Dao?"

Immortal Zhenyuan was taken aback, "Can the Heavenly Dao be absorbed as well?"

"Most certainly."

Emperor Yao answered.

Sun Wukong's Wanling Heavenly Dao could absorb the Hongmeng Totems, create all things, and even cause the Pangu Sky Splitting Axe to take form.

For the Undying Emperors, this Heavenly Dao carried extraordinary potential.

They would never let go of Sun Wukong.

"You must not take this lightly."

Emperor Yao looked towards the golden light filling the sky.

The battle continued, with a billion rays of light exploding in the sky and falling down.
