The SSS Legendary Dragon Chose Me On Rebirth

Chapter 179: But

Vacuse studied him... her?

He had never seen a creature like her before, and it wasn't surprising. There were hundreds of different races in the world. The most major were the humans, orcs, elves, dwarves, and beastmen.

There were also some minor but important ones like the fairies.

But the one standing before him must be even farther from the minor.

"What race are you?"

The strange creature bowed, mouth opening to reveal rows of small, sharp teeth. "I... am a Morrowling."

"Morrowling?" Vacuse asked with a frown.

The voice was unmistakably male. "Yes. That is what my race is called, but I fear I might be the very last of them."

Vacuse raised his brows. He was getting more and more interested. "And why is that?"

"We Morrowlings are creatures of the Force. We are very good at manipulating and using the different forces of the world. And that is why people hunt us down... our brains... provide a great boost to any Soulbearers... or any kind of Force users."

Vacuse was surprised to hear that, and at the same time he wasn't. After all, even humans could be used in making potions. He couldn't help the sigh that left his lips. "Alright, now that you are free, you can just do what you want."

Vacuse waved his hand in a dismissing gesture, already turning around to focus on other things.

But the Morrowling wasn't done. He hesitated and then went to one knee. "My lord! As the one who saved me, I owe you eternal debt! You are my master now!"

His voice was childlike and yet echoed through the whole room as if he was evoking something.

Vacuse turned back to stare at him, his eyes carrying weight as he looked down at the awkwardly kneeling Morrowling. He smiled. "Interesting. Now... cut the bullshit and tell me what you want."

The Morrowling flinched. "My lord, as my savior..."

"You have five breaths' time." Vacuse's voice was cold.

The Morrowling froze, then sighed. "My lord... the thing is, I am very far from home. So far that I doubt I can even ever get there again. And besides, there is nothing to return to, as we have been hunted to nothing. That is why I have concluded to join you, my lord!"

Vacuse remained silent for a while. "What are you willing to give me? What importance do you hold that I should take you in under my personal protection? Do you want to give me your brain to consume?"

The Morrowling shivered. "My lord... no! But I can provide you with something very good! In the history of my kind, I am the best there is with the ability to use large Force, but it came with a fatal flaw. I can't use it externally! The most I can do is use it above my body.

"And that is why I studied it! My lord, I am a very good formation master!"

Vacuse froze. He couldn't help it; his eyes widened.

Formation masters were rare. Very rare. In the Empire, the Emperor controlled almost all the formation masters, and it was one of his sources of power in the Empire.

If the Western Region could get their hands on a formation master of their own, then they would be able to build war constructs and formations. They would build War Artifacts...

Vacuse took a deep breath, and his eyes shone with savage greed that made the Morrowling shiver and take a step back, already feeling some kind of way.

Vacuse smiled brightly. "Why didn't you say so earlier? Of course you can join me! In fact, you can directly be my attendant and join my inner circle!"

The Morrowling began to smile.

But then Vacuse frowned. "There is but one problem though... who did the Ash Rats want to sell you to before?"

The Morrowling shivered. "It is... the Eastern Region's Grand Duke!"

Vacuse blinked, then smiled bitterly with a sigh. "Of course it is."

And almost at the same time, something collided with the building above them with so much force that the stone ceiling fell with a mighty rumble.

Vacuse manifested his umbrella and opened it above the Morrowling, blocking the falling stones from harming him.

The others simply used their fists or powers to shatter the stones into powder.

When the dust cleared, Vacuse dismissed the umbrella and then looked up at the gaping hole above... and the monster that loomed over it.

It was an octopus, its body like old wet stones, with eight great tentacles that looked like the spines of some ancient monsters. It had a single milky eye on its great head.

And atop the head, five people stood there casually.

All of them had the looks of nobility around them, the casual, powerful arrogance that they expected everyone and everything to bow to.

They wore blue roses with white waves etched on them.

Of all of them though, it was the girl, the same age as Vacuse, who stood at the front that was the most eye-catching. Her hair was a deep blue and fell to her waist.

She was beautiful. Her eyes were a deep blue that shifted and churned as if there was a storm hidden behind them.

"I was wondering what type of Rats dare to crawl into my territory. So it's the gangs. Explain yourself!"

Vacuse frowned as he stared at Eloryna Stormhaven.

The worst possible case scenario had just happened.

Nevertheless, he should introduce himself first.

But Kagerou beat him to it.

"All hail! This is the wings that stir the heavens! The roar that shook the deep! The claws that carve the mountains! This is Vacuse Vorrakyn, this is the Dragon Heir!"

Everyone was stunned into silence. Including Vacuse.

Eh?

Eh?!

What the fuck? Vacuse's eyes went wide. This was the first time he had ever heard all the things that Kagerou just said, and judging by the mischievous smile on his face, the assassin had been planning something like this for a long time.

But.

But, Vacuse was pleased by it as well. Why not? He might as well add more to it. He was, after all, a Dragon.
