The SSS Legendary Dragon Chose Me On Rebirth

Chapter 173: should be dead

Vacuse smiled as he saw them approach.

He didn't move to avoid them; rather, he simply gestured and the threads began moving. They blurred through the air, the translucent parts cutting through the destructive orbs, leaving them aimless as their intent and memories were cut.

After all, everything is made of intent and memories!

Although the memories of nonliving things were abstract, Vacuse could still cut them up and make them disappear temporarily.

That is one of the powers of the "erase" strand of Void energy.

Then Vacuse himself began to move. He ran into his threads, shooting through as if he were running in empty space, his eyes entirely purple now.

On the other side, Blood Spike grinned, her hands covered in the destructive force that looked like flame. She also shot into the enlarged bundle of moving threads, heading toward Vacuse with blinding speed.

The reason she was able to move so smoothly was that she wasn't just running—she was using her strange flash that propelled her across distance in a blink.

And then... they clashed again.

Boom!

Vacuse didn't dismiss his umbrella.

He swung it as if he were wielding something much heavier, like a hammer, and when it met her fist, the wind whipped around them and caused the threads to tremble.

Vacuse grinned, his face voracious, his purple eyes slitted, giving him an inhuman appearance.

She grinned in return, as if enjoying it, but Vacuse pressed his feet firmly on the ground and then swung his weapon in a horizontal arc, pushing her back.

At the same time, the threads rearranged themselves once again, but this time it was the sharp, gleaming ones that took the lead. They twisted and turned, cutting down with an angry whine.

With her flashing she was able to avoid it, but Vacuse wasn't going to let her go now that she was within his sphere of threads.

The whole web of threads began to move—all of it—as if Blood Spike were now the new center of gravity. The threads collapsed toward her, with her trapped in the middle!

"…Ah! How will you use your flash now? This is made specifically for you, Spike!"

Vacuse watched with anticipation, waiting for limbs and blood to start flying, but just as the first thread was about to touch her… she exploded!

His eyes widened.

What the fuck.

She didn't explode; rather, the destructive energy that clung to her like sweat turned into a puffing fur cloak that billowed upward.

Most of the threads collided with her and exploded into nothing, but at the same time, winds suddenly screamed across the stage as she used her flash to tear away.

Almost all of Vacuse's threads were gone, so he dismissed the rest.

Besides, they had done as he intended.

Blood Spike looked like a beat-up rag.

Black blood dripped down from her wounded hands where the threads had cut to the bone. Her body was just the same, and she was missing an ear where one part had been sliced clean off.

She grimaced, her lips split. "That was well done indeed."

Vacuse said nothing. He knew the attack wasn't powerful enough to kill her. His eyes flicked gently around him as the wind picked up.

Behind his head, five spears of Void hovered, swaying gently.

He didn't say anything or make any gesture, but the spears shot forward, turning into streaks of darkness.

Blood Spike grunted, her destructive power flaring once more, ready to disappear again. And with the way her eyes were glinting, Vacuse had an idea where she wanted to appear next.

His only problem was that she was so fast and would appear in an instant—almost too quickly to react.

The best solution in the fight was to stop her from moving entirely!

So just as she was ready to flash, the wind already screaming, she was jerked to a sudden stop!

Blood Spike stumbled, her eyes widening. "What?!"

She looked down and her body instantly went rigid with shock.

A pool of Void had opened beneath her, no bigger than a palm. From within, an abnormally long hand with multiple joints stuck out, its fingers curled around her ankle with an iron-tight grip.

"What?" she asked again, her eyes filled with confusion and surprise.

The reason why Vacuse didn't use his maw was because it was too big and would have alerted her. But even though his Void creature wasn't ready, it could now move some of its limbs.

"Get off!" She angrily kicked the hand, but it wouldn't let go.

It was too late.

The spears slammed into her with wet, crunching sounds and then exploded.

Splinters flew through the air and a crack ran through the stage as it trembled and shuddered.

Vacuse took a deep breath and grimaced.

He was sweating. He had used more power than he thought he would. It was almost like fighting Captain Amros back then, but this time with the threat of death hanging over his head.

But then it suddenly appeared!

With no warning whatsoever, something hazy appeared beside Vacuse. And it brought the feeling of intense danger—so much so that even as fear enveloped him, his body moved on instinct. He raised his umbrella, snapping it open!

He heard a whooshing sound and in the next instant, his umbrella shattered!

Vacuse didn't have time to feel surprise or shock.

The punch continued, slamming into his side! He gasped as he felt something strike him as though his insides were being attacked directly. His ribs cracked and he was sent spinning sideways.

He stopped just before he went over the edge.

But Vacuse was far from being all right. He hunched forward, one hand clutching his side while he tried to get his vision to stop swimming.

It was the most powerful and devastating attack he had taken since being reborn. In fact, he couldn't remember the last time he had suffered such pain since his return.

He gritted his teeth. "Blood Spike!"

He raised his eyes and glared at her. "You should be dead!"
