The SSS Legendary Dragon Chose Me On Rebirth

Chapter 151: Left to you

Vacuse raised his brows, then shrugged. "…do what you want…"

Rith did not reply, but he spread his wings. The wings were small, but the instant they appeared, they began to enlarge. Darkness seemed to fuse with them as they grew to two hundred meters long.

What followed was an intense rumbling sound that shook the ground as Rith let loose a shockwave of pressure that shook the minds of everyone.

A Dragon!

The Soulbearers, no matter if they were Commanders or ordinary warriors, all felt awe at the sight of the Dragon wings. It was the first time they had seen such a thing appear before them.

Although nobody said anything in the silence that no one was willing to break, they were all suddenly solemn. The depressed air was still there, but at least there was something else as well.

Vacuse did not go for a speech. The war was not the type where speeches were needed. Everyone knew what they must do. So he only said three words. "We will win."

The voice was near a whisper, but it reached the ears of everyone present. They all heard it.

Then Rith folded his wings and appeared around Vacuse once more. And that was that.

The army settled. They were still depressed, as one might expect from those who saw their doom, but at least their spirits were lifted a little, and their eyes burned with embers.

The Dragon Lord and his siblings touched down, then the waiting began.

The sun was hot, and standing for too long made everyone less weary about the upcoming fight. In fact, some began to look forward to it.

Intel kept pouring in.

"So they are this near," Drenvar said, holding a card that was etched with runes. "It seems they have been at it since dawn. Will they not let their men rest before they throw them at us?"

The sun was almost at the middle of the sky then.

And they had been waiting since morning.

Drenvar sighed. "At least a little bit of their depressed mood has turned into anger for making them wait this long.

"Alright. All eleven Commanders, prepare for battle."

A horn blasted in the air.

The forces woke up.

All their initial battle formations and war constructs had been destroyed. What they would rely on now were the Dragon construct and formations brought by the High Commander.

The High Commander of the wilderness border bowed and went to his place. Skya also went to what remained of her Brigade.

And like the very tip of the spear, the Dragon Lord and his heir stood there with their handful of guards.

Before long, the ground began to shake and wild explosions filled the air as the vanguard of the combined Dukes' army swept forward.

The vanguard was made up of Soulbearers of the third stage, and their job was to make sure the way ahead was ready for the main army.

Already they had intentionally triggered the explosive formations placed in the ground by the Vorrakyn.

Drenvar smiled when he saw this. "They really are in high spirits, are they not?"

Vacuse did not say anything as his eyes were glued to the vanguard.

They wore armor with patterns of different colors, and they held long wood etched with runes, made to detect the formations buried in the ground.

The reason Vacuse was studying them, and studying the whole battlefield at large even the day before, was so that he could learn. In his past life, there was nothing like him going to war. He had been nothing but an unimportant afterthought.

But now things were different, and he wanted to learn. He needed to learn. "Should we start attacking the vanguard?"

Drenvar shook his head. "Vacuse, this is not supposed to be a war if you look at it from the perspective of the two Dukes. They are only coming to slaughter us.

"That is why they sent their vanguard so far from their main army. Originally, they would not dare do such a thing for fear that we would wipe them out.

"But this? We are just waiting to be killed, that is why they are doing all of this."

The vanguard soon settled down and began to lay the formations, keeping cold, contemptuous eyes on the Vorrakyn's army, who dared not do a single thing to them.

The waiting continued.

And then the main army arrived.

They flew in the air in the thousands and shook the ground with thousands of hooves and feet.

They brought their central command on a floating platform where two flags and two men stood.

"If this were war, Vacuse, they would attack us immediately, and we would meet them even before they did. But this is a slaughter. We are to wait while they gloat and humiliate us before they cut our heads."

Drenvar looked at his son, at his expressionless face. "Does that make you angry?"

Vacuse thought about it for a while, then shook his head. "No. I would do the same if I was in their place. We are Soulbearers and humans. We all have ambitions, and it is our luck and unluck that we are in this situation."

Drenvar showed a slight smile. "Good, good. You must not think in terms of what is fair or unfair, not in this type of situation. You have to think in terms of what the other wants and what you want."

Vacuse nodded.

By the time they were done talking, the two Dukes' army had moved into ranks. At least the front wave had settled themselves.

Then a loud voice that shook the whole battlefield came from the platform. "You Vorrakyn are actually so arrogant that you even dare to point the fangs of your army against us. Is this what you want to do, Drenvar?"

Another voice joined after a cold snort. "Instead, you should throw yourself down at our feet, Drenvar. Instead, you should beg to keep your life. If you crawl from that place to our place, then we will consider letting you keep your life."

Vacuse turned to look at Drenvar.

Drenvar looked at him and nodded. "The remaining thing is left to you."

Vacuse clasped his hands and bowed.

Then he took a deep breath and stepped forward.

The war.

It is about to end, one way or the other.
