The SSS Legendary Dragon Chose Me On Rebirth

Chapter 119: Challenge

He also adopted the solemn tone that Vacuse used. "Lord Vacuse! We Orcs are honorable, and promises will be upheld! But we must also observe your worthiness!

"One does not come before the other, and one does not disturb the other! Or are you saying we Orcs are not honorable?"

Instantly, the atmosphere of the room turned sour as everyone focused on Vacuse, and he almost grimaced.

'...Ragna... you are good with your words...'

Vacuse had nothing more to say, and so he bowed his head. "The Orcs are honorable."

Ragna nodded with a pleased expression, and then he gestured.

The ground of the hall flared with red light, and the area directly in front of the platform shuddered as it opened up, revealing a concealed fighting pit.

"This is a place where you can prove how worthy you are. We are Orcs, we hear with our axe and spilled blood! We give ears to the voice of the strong that has shown himself!"

The Orcs cheered, more drinks flowed, and they began to demand more meat and females. Their eyes shone with passionate light as they turned toward the fighting pit.

Even the First General had a look of interest in his eyes as he studied Vacuse and the pit. His eyes gleamed as he wanted to see what the Dragon heir was all about.

It was the same with all of the others. They all stared at Vacuse with hungry eyes.

Harkon and Captain Mera took steps forward as if to stop him, but Ragna had already started speaking again. "Does the so-called Dragon want to hide behind the skirt of women?

"I think the Dragon said they are powerful! Why do you not show us the might of the Vorrakyn?"

Vacuse's expression twisted.

He was not really angry that Ragna was trying to set him up for fighting. It was honestly expected. But the fact that he was still going to deny Vacuse what he wanted and try to kill him later was what made him annoyed.

Ragna just wanted to humiliate Vacuse for the fun of it.

Vacuse smiled, then he shrugged casually. "It is not worth it."

Eh?

Everyone blinked. They expected him to say a lot of things, but that? What did he mean by that?

"What are you saying, Lord Vacuse?" Ragna asked.

Vacuse spread his hand.

'...You are not the only one that knows how to talk, Ragna...'

"This is the hall of the Orcs! Do not tell me you are going to make things so easy for me?"

The diplomatic group, Captain Mera, Lyra, and Harkon all looked at Vacuse as if he was drunk or had hit his head on something.

Even Ragna was surprised and a little confused, while the First General raised his brows.

Vacuse continued. His hand went to his ring, and he raised it up. "I am willing to bet this ring that I, Vacuse Vorrakyn, the Dragon heir, will prove how worthy he is!

"Is there anyone here who stands against it and says I cannot prove my worth? Do not just speak, put something on the line! This is nothing but loot of the conquest!"

His voice reverberated through the hall, turning everything into silence that seemed to press against everyone, leaving them deeply stunned by the new change of events.

Then he said in a low voice, "Do not tell me the Orcs are afraid?"

Vacuse knew he could not avoid fighting, but why would he not make a little gain from it as well? His eyes gleamed as he stared up at Ragna, finishing his words, his face calm. "And why does the heir of the Warbines not show me how it is done? He is, after all, the representative of the Orcs!

"Why do the two heirs not show you how worthy we both are?"

A shockwave rippled through the room, and Ragna's face fell. He had sprung a trap, but he had forgotten that the one he was trying to trap was very familiar with how to trap.

Now, the room was so silent that some of the Orcs did not even seem to be breathing. The only people who were happy about how things were developing were the Elders; their faces shone with joy behind the chairs.

Ragna was at a loss for what to do for an instant, and his face went blank before he narrowed his eyes. "I... I have already proved how worthy I am! This night is for you!"

Then, before Vacuse could say anything, Ragna spread his hand to those below. "Anyone who wants to challenge the human should come out now, and I will personally reward them!"

The room rumbled to life, and the Orcs' faces began to gleam. After all, it is not every day that the heir of a High Clan would promise to reward you.

Vacuse noted silently how Ragna had changed attention from himself once again.

But Vacuse had already made up his mind to gain from it, or it was not necessary.

He snorted coldly and then went to his seat, waving his hand in such a way that it drew the attention of everyone. "Captain Mera will handle things then. If you cannot give me a reward, then it is not worth my time."

Ragna's face tightened, as well as the faces of most of the people, but Vacuse only smiled. He knew he would end up in a nasty situation later when Ragna would want to try to kill him anyway.

Why should he then try to play along? Besides, he also needed to buy time for Kagerou. In a way, the fight might be needed.

Surprisingly, it was the First General that made his move. His voice sounded amused as he stared at Vacuse. "Very well. I will reward you for every Orc you defeat."

The room fell into silence.

"And if I am defeated?" Vacuse asked.

"If you are defeated, then one of your group members will die. I will also take your ring. The number of challenges will be seven, and if you are unable to continue, let us say from the third round, then four of your companions will die. Do you agree?"
