The Spider:AHero’s Awakening

Chapter 9: Chapter 9: No Way Back.

The nano-tracker was working.

Karen fed me a steady stream of updates as I swung through the city, my heart pounding with nervous anticipation. Osborn was on the move, and I was right behind him.

"Target is currently en route to a warehouse in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Estimated arrival in 10 minutes."

I landed on a rooftop, taking a moment to catch my breath. "Okay, Parker, you got this. Sneak in, gather intel, and get out." Easier said than done.

The Brooklyn Navy Yard was quiet—too quiet. The docks stretched out into the night, fog rolling in over the water, making it impossible to see more than a few feet ahead. I perched high up on a crane, watching as Osborn's convoy arrived.

Several black SUVs rolled to a stop in front of an old warehouse. Men in tactical gear poured out, scanning the perimeter. And then, the Green Goblin himself stepped out, the faint glow of his armor casting eerie shadows.

And he wasn't alone. Doctor Octopus followed, his metal tentacles clanking against the ground. Rhino stood nearby, cracking his knuckles, while Shocker adjusted his gauntlets with a smug grin.

Great. It was a villain family reunion.

"Peter, I'm detecting high levels of electrical activity inside the warehouse."

"Got it, Karen," I whispered, creeping closer along the beam. "Let's see what they're up to."

I slipped inside through a broken skylight, sticking to the shadows as I crawled along the ceiling. Below me, Osborn was talking to a group of scientists, each one looking like they'd rather be anywhere else.

"The prototype is almost complete, Mr. Osborn," one of them stammered, holding up a glowing canister. "We just need more time—"

"You've had enough time," Osborn snapped. "The world is changing, gentlemen. We need results."

I zoomed in with my lenses and felt my stomach drop. Inside the canister, the swirling black substance looked all too familiar. Venom.

Crap.

Suddenly, my spider-sense screamed. Before I could react, a metal tentacle lashed out, grabbing me by the leg and yanking me down.

I landed hard, rolling to my feet. Ock grinned. "Spying again, Spider-Man?"

"Hey, Doc," I said, backing away slowly. "Didn't see you there. Did you get a new haircut?"

Before I could move, Rhino charged, slamming into me like a wrecking ball. The air rushed out of my lungs as I flew across the warehouse, crashing through a stack of crates.

I groaned. "Oof… okay. Not my best landing."

Osborn chuckled, stepping forward. "You just don't know when to quit, do you?"

I fired a web at his face, but he dodged easily, hurling a pumpkin bomb my way. I flipped out of the way just in time, but Shocker was already moving in.

"Let's see how tough you really are, bug-boy," he sneered, sending a concussive blast my way.

I barely managed to web-swing out of the way, my heart racing. I was outnumbered and outgunned. This was bad—really bad.

I needed a plan.

As I ducked behind a pillar, Karen chimed in. "Peter, multiple exit points detected. Nearest is 30 feet to your left."

"Thanks, Karen," I muttered. "But running isn't an option."

I peeked out and spotted the canister containing the symbiote. If I could web it away and get it out of here, I could stop whatever Osborn was planning.

I took a deep breath and shot a web at the canister, yanking it toward me. "Yoink!"

"NO!" Osborn roared.

I ran for the exit, canister in hand, but before I could reach the door, a massive hand wrapped around my chest.

Rhino lifted me off the ground like I weighed nothing. "Where do you think you're going, little bug?" I struggled, twisting in his grip, and fired a web at his eyes. He roared, dropping me, and I rolled away just in time for Electro to fire a bolt of lightning at me.

Pain exploded through my body, and I collapsed to the ground, shaking.

Osborn loomed over me. "You're a persistent little pest, aren't you?"

I gasped for breath. "Yeah… it's kinda my thing."

He raised a hand, preparing to strike, when suddenly a loud BANG echoed through the warehouse. "Step away from the kid."

I blinked. Standing in the entrance, clad in red and gold armor, was Iron Man.

The tables turned instantly.

Tony unleashed a barrage of repulsor blasts, forcing Osborn and his goons to scatter. I used the distraction to grab the canister and bolt for the exit, stumbling out into the open air.

Tony flew beside me. "You okay, kid?"

"Never better," I wheezed. We didn't stop running until we reached the waterfront. I collapsed onto the dock, panting. Tony landed beside me, scanning the canister.

"Symbiote," he muttered. "Great. Just what we needed."

I looked at him, exhausted. "How did you know I was there?"

Tony smirked. "Karen told me. You didn't think I'd let you play superhero unsupervised, did you?"

I sighed. "I had it under control… mostly." Tony sat beside me, looking out over the water. "Kid, you've got guts. But these guys? They're not playing around. You're gonna need backup."

I swallowed hard. "Yeah… I kinda figured that out the hard way."

He placed a hand on my shoulder. "We'll figure this out together. For now, let's get this thing somewhere safe."

I looked down at the canister in my hands, the black substance pulsing inside like it was alive.

Something told me this was far from over. The next day…

I walked into school, feeling like I'd been hit by a train. MJ was waiting at my locker, concern etched across her face.

"You disappeared last night," she said. "What's going on, Peter?"

I hesitated. I wanted to tell her everything—to let her in on my double life.

Instead, I smiled weakly. "Just… trying to keep up with life, you know?"

She sighed but didn't push. "Well, you're not alone, okay?"

I nodded, feeling a little lighter. "Thanks, MJ."

But deep down, I knew the real fight was only just beginning.
