Chapter 121: Journey to the Village Hidden by Rain

The Village Hidden by Rain is located at the border of the three great nations of Earth, Wind, and Fire. Influenced by the wars between these major powers, it is in a state of constant conflict.

Its former leader was Hanzo of the Salamander, a powerhouse with the title of "Demigod." However, he was later killed by Pain in a civil war in the Village Hidden by Rain, and the village eventually became the main base of the Akatsuki.

Of course, the Village Hidden by Rain was still under Hanzo's control at this time. Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan were probably not much older than Kyosuke. By chronological calculation, they should have just started their own organization.

Danzo, leading Kyosuke and the others, thus arrived at the Village Hidden by Rain.

Drip, drip, drip.

The rain, which seemed as if it would never stop, poured down on the Land of Rain, and Kyosuke and the others were inevitably soaked.

Feeling the torrential rain flowing down his face through the gaps in his mask, Kyosuke couldn't help but maliciously guess that the villagers of the Village Hidden by Rain probably all suffered from severe rheumatism.

The dark sky above, which had seemed somewhat poetic at first, had, after a long time of looking at it, inevitably become a bit annoying, and... there was a deep sense of oppression.

Influenced by this environment, the buildings of the Village Hidden by Rain were mainly made of steel, although some were made of stone.

Numerous steel pipes of various sizes were erected on the outer layers of the buildings, creating a unique landscape.

Kyosuke thought for a moment and realized that these pipes were probably measures for rain protection and drainage. Otherwise, even the sturdiest roof would probably not be able to withstand the long-term erosion of the rain.

In such an environment, if the Village Hidden by Rain's strength were not insufficient, they would probably be more eager than any other major nation to wage war, in order to seize land suitable for survival and reproduction.

This was also why Pain, after dispelling the rain, was revered as a god by the Village Hidden by Rain.

It could only be said that Hanzo's loss to him was not in vain.

Just as the group quietly arrived outside a massive steel building, a Rain ninja suddenly appeared before them.

"Lord Hanzo is expecting you," the Rain ninja said. He did not show any intention of investigating, simply glanced at the group, and then lowered his head and led the way.

Seeing this, Danzo gave the others a look, signaling them to act according to the situation.

Kyosuke looked at his cautious appearance and couldn't help but laugh to himself. "It seems he's also afraid that Hanzo will suddenly turn on him."

This was not surprising. Since Konoha could think of winning over Hanzo, it was impossible for the Sand not to think of this. It was even possible that the Sand's team had already been here.

So, a certain degree of vigilance was very necessary.

Along the way, the group walked in silence in this somewhat oppressive atmosphere.

Kyosuke, while remaining vigilant, couldn't help but size up the Rain ninja leading the way.

After a brief observation, he could say with certainty that this person was a ninja who was proficient in assassination techniques. From the habitual movements he inadvertently revealed as he walked, and the breathing rhythm that was clearly the result of special training, these things all clearly indicated this.

Perhaps due to this unique environment, the development policy of the Village Hidden by Rain was the same as Konoha's, which was to maximize the abilities of each ninja, rather than developing a large-scale army.

These Rain ninja were very skilled in Water Release and assassination ninjutsu, so they often accepted commissions from other countries to carry out various types of assassination missions.

This was also one of the main sources of income for the Village Hidden by Rain.

The Akatsuki, after taking over the Village Hidden by Rain, had successfully carried this "tradition" to its peak.

Soon, under the guidance of this Rain ninja, Kyosuke and the others arrived at a very hidden small house.

The dim oil lamp could only illuminate a section of the road in front of the table. If it weren't for Kyosuke's extraordinary vision, he probably wouldn't have been able to see the person hidden behind the table.

It could be said that the atmosphere here was full of conspiracy.

Just as undercover agents like to meet on balconies, conspirators like Danzo and Hanzo also usually like to discuss matters in this kind of dark environment.

It was as if not doing so would be unprofessional.

Kyosuke looked at the two who had already started whispering to each other and couldn't help but complain to himself.

However, although he was despising the two of them in his heart, he was still very curious about this Hanzo of the Salamander, who had appeared so rarely in the original story.

Although this person's reputation was great, on the contrary, he was very cautious. Even if his opponents were the unknown Yahiko and the others, he would not have the slightest contempt for them, and would always choose the most stable and reliable method to eliminate his opponents.

As for Hanzo's strength, it could be seen from his title of "Demigod."

It was rumored that in the village where he was born, there was a highly poisonous black salamander. After the salamander died, its poison sac was implanted into the young Hanzo. Therefore, Hanzo's resistance to poison was very strong. Even when he breathed, if he did not control it, the people around him could be poisoned by the gas.

In order not to affect others, Hanzo was forced to wear a mask and breathe through his mouth.

In the original story, besides Sasori of the Red Sand, Hanzo was probably the most skilled at using poison.

It could be said that although Hanzo's swordsmanship and summoned beasts were also powerful, if he did not have the ability to use poison, he would never have obtained the title of "Demigod."

After quietly observing Hanzo for a while, Kyosuke suddenly felt a sense of boredom.

He then gave a look to Rei, who was standing quietly on the side, and then slowly walked out.

The reason was simple. Since he had the duty of a guard, it was normal for him to patrol the surroundings to see if there were any abnormalities.

Rei looked at the escaping Kyosuke, and the corner of her mouth, hidden beneath her mask, couldn't help but twitch. In the end, she could only choose to ignore his existence and continue to stand there, defending her post as a door god.

And so, Kyosuke began to wander around this seemingly abandoned steel building.

And with this wandering, he actually discovered an unexpected situation.

In another room, a few corridors away from the room where Danzo and the others were, there were a few other ninja.

From the looks of it, these people were probably not Hanzo's subordinates.

Kyosuke, who was quite curious about this, quietly released a few small snakes, preparing to send them to check the situation.

The image transmitted back by the small snake surprised Kyosuke, because the room was full of Sand ninja.

After thinking for a moment, Kyosuke rejected the guess that Hanzo had teamed up with the Sand to ambush them.

After thinking about it, he could only think that it was a coincidence.

But no matter what the real situation was, he had to report this discovery.

Otherwise, if he guessed wrong and Hanzo was really preparing to launch an attack, it would probably be too late.
