Chapter 5: 5. Cute dog?
Chapter 5
After several hours of silence since our last conversation, we arrived at the Hellsing estate. Stepping out of the helicopter, Integra turned to me and said.
"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, the head of the Hellsing family that runs the Hellsing organization. As you might have guessed, my family and I are very possessive of what we have." She said with a chuckle, and then continued. "You will be staying at the Hellsing estate until you have completed your training and are ready to be used as one of our soldiers, is that understood!?"
"Yes sir!" I replied.
"Yes, Walter."
"Ma'am?" the butler asked for further instructions, stepping forward.
"I would like you to show Lady Victoria to her quarters for the foreseeable future. It is almost dawn, and I imagine she is very tired after tonight. - Integra said with some caution in her voice.
- Yes ma'am. - Walter answered, and then looking at me continued. - Come, Miss Victoria, I will show you where you will sleep.
Meanwhile, when we left.
- Isn't she interesting? - Alucard said with a charming smile appearing behind Integra.
- Yes, indeed she is. I have never been yelled at, not even by my parents. But when she did, it was almost like a child's tantrum.
- Believe me master, she is like that only on the surface, under this childish appearance hides a formidable creature that is just waiting to be released. - The vampire said as if he could see the future and liked what he saw.
- Really? I guess only time will tell how it will be in reality.
Meanwhile, Walter was having trouble getting me into the room.
- Ah! All these paintings look so beautiful and expensive. Hey, Walter? Can you show me around before you take me to the room?
"Sorry, Miss Victoria, I'm only following my Master's orders, I would never disobey." Walter replied with a grim smile.
"Walter! I never said not to take me to the room, but you can do it the long way. That's not breaking orders, right?" I said, trying to imitate puppy dog eyes.
After a few seconds of silence, Walter feigned surprise and replied.
"I think so. Master never told me how long it would take. Plus, the basement where you'll be staying is easily accessible from the third floor." He said with a smile.
"See! Now please show me where everything is. I want to know everything I need to know before I go to bed. This is my first time in a house this size! I can't wait!"
"By the way, Walter, why can you address me as Sir Integra, ma'am?" I thought I was going to get shot in the chest twice that day when I did that.
- Well, that's because I practically raised her. I have a little privilege, so to speak.
- I see... Oh! What kind of painting is this? She looks so beautiful! - Having said that I understood, I was distracted by another painting.
"What a strange girl. All she cares about is research and why I can call Integra ma'am. How could Alucard turn such an innocent girl into a vampire?" - Walter thinks to himself as he opens another room of the Hellsing mansion.
30 minutes later.
Before they had even walked a tenth of the mansion, Walter could be seen carrying a sleeping girl on his back.
- God! If she's so tired, why are you so eager to look around!? Making the poor old man carry her. - Walter complains, wincing from the pain in his back.
- Are you having fun, Walter? - An echo sounded as Walter passed by the mirror.
- Ah Alucard. Can you take Miss Victoria away from me, my back is killing me. - Walter says laying the girl down on the floor.
- Mom... Dad... - Seras whispers in her sleep, and a bloody tear flows from one of her eyes to the ground.
- Hm!? A crying vampire? I never thought I'd live to see such a day. - Walter said with shock on his face.
- Walter?
- Yes?
- Investigate what happened to her parents and let me know when you find out. - Alucard said with a hint of anger.
- And you, as it turns out, care about your pet much more than I thought. - Walter said with a Cheshire grin.
- Shut up, we can't have a crying vampire, especially when I myself gave birth to her! - Said Alucard, calling his Baskerville to carry Seras to her bedroom.
When they step outside the mirror, Walter is left alone.
- Has Alucard become kinder? No, impossible, most likely it has something to do with the girl.
Meanwhile, when Alucard and Seras had already gone down to the basement, the girl woke up a little.
- M... Master?
- What?
- Is this your pet? He's so cute! - I said, hugging the dog and rubbing my face against the soft, silky fur.
- Cute? HA-ha-ha-ha-ah-ha, cute!? You think the Baskerville dog is cute!? - Alucard laughs so much that he grabs his stomach.
- Oh yeah? Isn't he adorable? - I said, starting to scratch the dog's neck.
At that, the Dog closed all six of his eyes and growled with satisfaction. Then, after a few seconds, he rolls over onto his back and lets me rub his belly.
Aren't you a cutie?! Who's the cutest? That's right, you are! - I said, rubbing the belly of the surprisingly cute hellhound.
Howling with happiness, the dog began to lick my hands.
"Is the hound really behaving like a normal dog with her?" - Alucard thought in surprise.
- Master? - I called hesitantly and with a slight tremor.
- Yes?
"I wonder what could make a girl tremble who just rubbed the belly of a creature that even hell rejected?"
- This... can I...
- Faster! Policewoman!
- Okay! Can I sleep in your room tonight, Master? - I said, proud that I was able to muster up the courage to say these words.
- What?
- Well, I just feel safer with you and I will naturally sleep in my own bed!
- Ha-ha-ha, okay! I will allow it. Let's see how long you last, police girl!" Alucard said, disappearing from view.
Interga's office.
"That was strange, ma'am, he seemed genuinely angry about what happened to Miss Victoria." Walter said.
"Is that strange, Walter? Alucard was once human, you know?"
"Well, ma'am, in the half century I've known Alucard, he's never shown mercy, let alone compassion."
"Then perhaps you just have to be the vampire he sired to see a little more of his human side."
As Walter was about to answer, Alucard's voice interrupted him.
"Are you two actually saying that I have a human side? How charming."
"Are we wrong?" Integra asks curiously, looking at the wall.
A second later, a black moving hole appeared in the place where she was looking, and Alucard came out before it closed.
- Of course, all traces of my humanity were erased about 500 years ago. What you see now is a 100% monster.
- What was it like recently, when you asked Walter to investigate what happened to her parents?
- What I see in this girl is a cruelty that is not inferior to my own. If she is properly guided, she has the makings of becoming a great vampire, capable of rivaling even me! - Alucard said with a menacing grin.
- Really? When I met her, she seemed like a happy little girl.
- She seemed quite innocent to me too - Walter replied
- Are you sure my servant was not mistaken?
- Walter, did you get the results on what happened to her parents?
- I got them recently and was just about to tell our mistress when you barged in. - Walter replied irritably.
- What happened to them, Walter? - Integra asked with great curiosity.
- Let's see here now. - Walter said, opening the envelope.
As Walter began to read, his eyes seemed to bulge out of his head, and then he began to chuckle.
- Now I see what you mean, Alucard. She really does have potential. - He smirked knowingly.
- Hurry up and tell me, Walter!
- Okay, ma'am. Both of her parents worked for the government, her father was a police officer who made many arrests and was awarded medals for distinguished service. Her mother was a doctor and worked near the station where her father worked, apparently he got injured at some point and she was his doctor, that's how they met, a couple of years later they got married and about a year later Miss Victoria was born. - Walter pauses briefly to catch his breath.
- And? - Integra asks, starting to lose interest.
- That was a little backstory ma'am, when the girl was 9 years old, both her parents were brutally murdered in front of her. Her father was brutally beaten, and her mother was raped after she was already dead. Miss Victoria saw it all. She attacked one of the killers and stabbed him in the eye, then she was shot in the stomach. The police arrived only a few hours later and found her almost dead from blood loss.
- My God! - Integra exclaimed in shock.
- That's not all, ma'am.
- Not all?!
- No, it actually gets worse: after her parents were killed, she was placed in foster care, and adopted four times. All four families were found guilty of multiple crimes against her. The first three were sent to prison for assault and torture. The last time the police came, Ms. Victoria was found to have been nearly raped and beaten. - Walter sighed, making it clear that he was done.
- All this happened to her? And she can still act like this? - Integra asked, clearly worried.
- Wow, even I can't believe how much she went through. No wonder she was so brave when that vampire was about to fuck and kill her. - Alucard said, laughing to himself.
- Walter, what happened to the ones who killed her parents? Were they caught? - Integra asked.
- No ma'am, they are still out there.
- Alucard, are you sure you can control her after she becomes a true Nosferatu?
- Let's just say that even now she always wants to be by my side, Walter by the way.
- Hm?
- Can you move the policewoman's bed to my room?
- WHAT!? - Integra and Walter exclaimed.
- Why? - Integra asked.
- What can I do Integra? She asked for it herself. - Alucard answered, shrugging.
- You know about my Dog, right?
- You mean the Hound of Baskerville? - Walter clarified.
- Yeah. Can you believe she called him cute and started petting him? He even liked it so much that he let her touch his belly. She acted like he was a normal cute dog. I think you should realize by now that the girl has a lot of screws loose in her head. - Having finished speaking, Alucard disappeared from Walter and Integra's sight.
"I can't wait for my chick to reveal her inner self. She seems so perfect. A beautiful, strong, stubborn and sadistic vampire." - The vampire grins darkly, imagining what she will do in the future.
After a few seconds, Integra turned to Walter.
- Walter! After you move the bed, I want you to tell everyone to stay away from Seras until we get to know her better, I don't want any incidents. - Integra commands in an authoritative tone.
- Yes, ma'am.
