The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases

Chapter 209: The Elder Bears More Burdens (Part 2)

He remembered that, in the southern desert of the Skanis Continent, there were several nests of Blue Dragons, which he could try to subjugate to provide a sustainable source of experimental electricity.

Dammit, a single Mithril Energy Core could have potentially sorted this out.

Yet all the Mithril Energy Cores in that vast desert of Toriel had been packed up and taken away by those damn Moon Elves to Eternal Gathering Island!

At the thought of this, David was immediately engulfed by [Wrath].

When the Red Dragon flew into a rage, the devils at the teleportation site reacted as if they'd just received a red alert. Legions of fully-armed Blood Armor Demons and Steel Demons surged forward, encircling David and his group of dragons.

For a moment, it looked just like the scene when David and his party first entered Barto Hell thirty-two years earlier.

Only the Dragonkin Succubus, Yolanda, was missing from the dragon group.

He wondered whether that mastermind from the Succubus family, who had lured them onto the blood battle battlefield, had been dealt with?

The frazzled Lesser Demon responsible for the teleportation site's registration and reception hurried over. David was preparing to produce the Dragon King's Decree, a gift from Ephelomon. His plan was to apply for the Dragon Race's diplomatic immunity and compel these rule-bound devils to make way. At that very moment, a familiar voice rose from behind the devils,

"Everyone back to your positions. I've got this."

"Yolanda?" Seeing the newcomer, David immediately brightened, especially when he noticed that she was wearing a lavish yet airy leather outfit with a metal military badge representing Avernus military rank. He then asked with a smile,

"What, you're the highest in charge of this teleportation point now?" It was almost like the feeling of preparing to take advantage of an opportunity to return to one's country, only to find out that the ground staff supervisor who appeared was a wealthy young lady he knew from back in the day.

"Yeah, I'm just taking a turn at the job," Yolanda said with a smile, then cut straight to the chase without beating around the bush with David, "Of course, what's more important is, I heard you were back from Toriel, so I made it a point to wait here for you."

David felt a stir in his heart. For Yolanda to wait here for him with such lowered pride...

He immediately thought of an inconceivable possibility and squinted his eyes slightly, asking in disbelief,

"That old geezer Christoph hasn't come out of the Gloomy Region yet, has he?"

Yolanda immediately smiled wryly, "Correct. The High Elves were afraid that his return to the New Continent would spell disaster for Granyel. They also wanted to use my father's hatred to weaken the Drow Elves to the greatest extent. As soon as my father led his army through the Well of Miracles, they started grand constructions, sealing off the entire Well of Miracles and all the controlled passages with Magic Enigma Locks.

"You know how straightforward my father is. Initially, his successful escape from the Gloomy Region relied purely on brute strength. Once he achieved his goal, he fought to the death. Only his notable combat accomplishments attracted the attention of the Dragon Queen, who then directly brought him to Evil Scale Fortress.

"It wasn't much of an issue at first. My father had always wanted to kill those Drow who had imprisoned him as a way to avenge his past humiliations. For a while, he didn't bother to force his way through the Mystlocks.

"But now, thirty-two years have passed, and the Evil Scale Fortress has already issued a conscription order to the main material plane of Toriel. I fear that if he continues his relentless pursuit in the Gloomy Region, he will miss out on military opportunities..."

Having heard this much, how could David not understand Yolanda's purpose?

So, it wasn't that his return was blocked, but that he'd gotten bloodthirsty and completely carried away...

He then asked with a laugh,

"So, you want me to fish him out of the Gloomy Region?"

Yolanda actually knelt on one knee and formally requested, "Correct. When he insisted on returning to Elariya for revenge, my mother opposed it. However, he sought out Lord Ephelomon and received his approval, which gave him the opportunity to return to Elariya..."

As she spoke of this, the Dragonkin Succubus, seemingly heartbroken over her 'petulant child' of a father, drew a deep breath and lowered her charming face. "I implore Your Highness to fulfill this request. If our family can ever be of assistance in the future, I will do everything in my power to support Your Highness."

"Hmm..." David was actually tempted, but still affected a thoughtful pose, rubbing his chin with his claw.

Because what seemed insurmountable for others was almost effortless for David.

He didn't have to waste any effort figuring out the complex Magic Enigma Locks meticulously constructed by the High Elves.

Using [Arrogance] Authority, he could 'earth-travel' into the Gloomy Region and then lead Christoph and the others out, just as he had done in the Anauroch Great Desert of Toriel.

But from the angle he stood, there was more to consider.

Previously, his strategy against the High Elf immigrants of Eternal Gathering Island had been missing a key element.

That was, when targeting the New Continent, especially Dewensen, he lacked high-end combat power—legendary individuals.

The Duchess of the Silver Wheel, Mirillian, was indeed legendary. However, she was also a High Elf, and whether she would be willing to raise her sword against Dewensen with him was debatable.

He wouldn't necessarily be able to sway the higher combat forces of the Astral Plane's Sed Ponga family in the short term. His only chance would be if the current head of the family was female; in that case, he could directly command her using the Dragon King's Decree in conjunction with the Bloodscale Berserker. However, enacting such orders would have serious consequences. He could end up as the public enemy of all breeding females of Sed Ponga. Then, it wouldn't be impossible for all married Red Dragons to see him as a target for a mob beating...
