Chapter 355: Quest Complete
-----
Because I ended up sleeping a bit more than I had planned, I woke up much later than I should have, and when I opened my eyes, I was alone in bed, mom and my little brother gone!
"Ugh…"
I looked around, feeling still quite sleepy and tired; what happened yesterday was a bit too heavy for me. My Cosmic Heart Core almost exploded into pieces, and if it wasn't for Sepa and Bastet, I would've probably lost all my cosmic powers.
The burden of becoming their avatars was also quite strong, but I think I am already beginning to adapt just fine. I looked at my hands, suddenly sensing my cosmic energy.
It was a bit… gold?
And it resembled little grains of sand?!
"Huh?"
Is this the effect of being the avatar of two Egyptian Constellations?
Well, in a way they also merged with my soul and also my Cosmic Heart Core.
So I suppose part of their essence has become one with me.
It looked quite majestic.
And it felt like I was overflowing with it.
Although the maximum quantity of Cosmic Energy didn't seem to increase stat-wise, its regeneration speed had become incredibly fast.
This means I might not have to be so careful anymore when handling cosmic energy, because I always end up saving it for the last.
Maybe I could use it more actively and fight foes with it better, perhaps, maybe.
"Hahhh…"
I looked at my system, but there wasn't any notification at all regarding skills or anything.
Weird, I guess the system seems to think I didn't change at all!
Perhaps internal changes like these cannot be easily reflected…
Well, whatever.
There was another new notification, though, something I had not seen before.
A quest completion notification.
Ding!
[Congratulations! You have completed the Class Change Trial Quest: [Heal the Heavenly Empress and the Heavenly Demon]!]
[Through the combined efforts of the friends you've made along this journey, you were able to finally free the Venerables of this world from their curse, the destructive power that would have consumed them and ultimately killed them.]
[If it wasn't because you believed in Zero One, if it wasn't because you had mercy for the robots, and if it wasn't because you wanted a brighter future where both factions could live in peace and harmony, none of this would have happened.]
[If you had chosen to slay her in that moment, if you had chosen to never try to understand the machines and destroy them all, your masters and your adoptive parents would have never been able to survive past a few more years.]
[Now, as the pillars of the World of Bestia's Heavenly Dao, the World itself is beginning to heal, and even the Heavens might one day regenerate back to normal, although it might take thousands of years.]
[Now that your family is safe, and now that they had been freed from the nanomachines, the only thing left to do is take down the other two Mechanical Trees.]
[With the help of Zero One and her sister, recruit the machines that desire peace and stop those that desire destruction.]

[The climax of this Trial is finally coming along; will you be able to reach it?]
[An even greater reward awaits you upon completion.]
[You Received The Following Quest Completion Rewards]: [200.000 Plot Points] [Heavenly Yin & Yang Elixir (S+++ Rank)] x5 [Black & White Heaven Pearl (S+++ Rank)] x5 [Martial Arts Evolution Scroll (S+++ Rank)] x1 [Skill Evolution Scroll: Yin & Yang Theme (S+++ Rank)] x1 [Random Spiritual Arts Scroll (S Rank)] x2 [Random Sorcery Arts Scroll (S Rank)] x2 [Mechanoid Themed Treasure Chest (S+++ Rank)] x1 [Heavenly Empress Divine Ring (SS+ Rank)] x1 [Heavenly Demon Demonic Ring (SS+ Rank)] x1]
The rewards were amazing this time, with two rings and several new goodies I hadn't seen before. A scroll that can let me directly evolve a Martial Art for example, sounds pretty crazy.
Also four scrolls to learn random Spiritual Arts and Sorcery Arts, the "magic" of the Murim Worlds, which doesn't use Mana, but Ki of various elements combined with Spiritual Essence, and sometimes even the energy of the world or the heavens themselves.
Also a Skill Evolution Scroll, that's new too, I think? It comes with a "Yin & Yang Theme," though, so whatever it evolves into, it becomes one of those two elements themes. Interesting.
There are quite a lot of amazing possibilities if that's the case.
Also got another Mechanoid Themed Treasure Chest, this one is S+++ Rank in quality, unlike the previous one that was only S Rank.
I had yet to fully use the rewards I got from the previous one because I wasn't so sure, but maybe it is a good time to use them, or, well, a bit later, I should go to have breakfast now.
Or lunch? Depending on how late I woke up.
I walked out of my room, quickly hearing giggles and conversation, relaxed conversation.
As I walked through the palace's wooden floor, I continued hearing laughter and cheerful talk.
And I also could smell the delicious scent of roasted meat.
I walked outside the palace, finding all my friends and family together, laughing, talking, and simply celebrating what had happened.
There were also a lot of guests aside from everyone I knew; both mortals and immortals were invited to this party, those that had survived everything so far and lived in the two villages.
Demonic Cultivators and Orthodox Cultivators never got along, but right now they were both drunk and laughing, sharing good food together.
I couldn't believe it…
"Hahaha! You damn orthodox bastards are way too stuck-up! I would've killed the guy that did that to you!"
"Hah, honestly I wanted to do the same, but I abstained myself. Although later I found out his arrogance had become his demise, the man ended up trying to scam a dangerous Specter and ended up being possessed and promptly slain by an exorcist!
"Bwahahaha! Serves him right!"
They were really talking like they were friends, damn. I couldn't just… I could hardly even believe what I was seeing.
"Oh, Anna, you're awake, finally!"
Suddenly, the little white crane, Yu Mingzhu, the one who was master's Divine Will, which now has become "real" by absorbing the Record Fragment, greeted me.
She came from the kitchen, carrying a lot of food, mostly meat; behind her was also Sara, who was bringing drinks, a lot of them.
"Good morning, Anna. Did you sleep well?" Sara wondered.
"Ah yeah…" I muttered. "I'm surprised to see you two together at all."
"Oh, we went to pick up food," said Yu. "Eating as a whole feels a bit weird still, but I'm beginning to like it a lot! I mean, I do have memories of eating from my original body, but still… it's kind of a new thing with this body!"
"I guess you're not wrong; before you didn't even eat?" I asked her.
"Ah no, I didn't eat," she said. "I was just there… observing, most of the time sleeping… It was… it was kind of lonely."
"Oh well, I'm glad you're here now and can be with everyone else!" I nodded. "Sara, how do you feel so far?"
"Good," nodded Sara. "Lately, as I cultivate more and use Meditation Techniques, my ghostly powers have become more… I don't know, manageable? Back then I always had this weird, lingering, monstrous feeling… I guess I am truly an undead monster, huh?"
"I'm sorry…" I sighed. "Maybe that wasn't what you wanted?"
"Anna, please, don't worry about that," she said. "I was just saying. I don't blame you for literally giving me a second chance at life. If anything, I'm really grateful. I've grown stronger in this world you've invited me to. And I think I've met wonderful people too… your masters, for example. I've grown so strong I can hardly believe it myself, for example."
"Really?" I wondered. "W-Well, I'm really happy for you then. It's just a bit surprising; you've become so talkative and lively. You didn't use to be this way."
"Ah… I guess so," she muttered. "I had a rough life, but in here, both through training and meditating, I've kind of livened up a bit. Well, it started the moment you revived me and allowed me to stay by your side and protect you. Still... I suppose my personality hasn't changed too much, though. If anything, I am only like this with those close to me."
She still had that kind of tone of voice that made her seem like she was a lonely assassin girl, which was pretty cool, I guess.
Well! I'm glad she's better now. I just felt so bad when I invited her here out of nowhere… Ugh. But it seemed that things improved, and she had felt much better now.
"Well, you two sure love chatting," Yu muttered, squinting her eyes as she drank some drink; she had already come back from leaving the meat on the grills. "Hm, I've been thinking about what to do with my life so far. What I want to do…"
"Oh?" I wondered. "I see…"
I was surprised she was so open with me too. I suppose she sees me as someone like her friend. I thought she was more closed with her heart, but I guess that's just her cute tsundere personality. She must consider me a friend to talk to me about this.
"And after seeing what happened and how you all succeeded, I kind of got emotional about everything…" she muttered.
It seems she was finally opening up with me.
Hmm, should I sponsor her later?
